@MdoubleHB By now even you should realize that you need psychiatric help. Or you can just admit that are an anti-vegan in disguise. Swayze is being extremely nice in allowing you to express you freedom of speech on her channel and you are squandering it on your abuse towards her and your anti-scientific statements. Please get help. This is not helping anyone, especially yourself.

Goodful also has other videos like "high school student, college student, med student" and "ballerina, bodybuilder, and runner" they do seem to want to show how veganism can fit into any stage of life and any lifestyle. I made the transition only 2 months ago, but seeing videos like theirs has been really encouraging. And seeing your videos has helped me so much to make better informed decisions along the way.

my step father became vegetarian in 90s Poland, for years it was typical for him to get a salad with lettuce and maybe a tomato at every wedding or having to ask 100 times if buckwheat is vegetarian at every restaurant and still having it fried on animal fat he tried every type of disgusting mock meats that came out, ate a lot of tofu and survived all the gross comments about his food choices from everyone around him and then he got to experience the shift around vegan and vegetarian food now, he's vegan (my mum as well) living in Warsaw, 6th most vegan friendly city in the world, with every restaurant having at least a few vegan options and his fridge (and freezer) always stacked with the best tasting vegan mock meats❤️truly what we deserve

My oldest child went vegetarian at the age of seven in 1996. (He is still vegetarian to this day.) We ate a lot of beans, pastas and rices because the mock meats available were not good. Boca Burgers and Tofu Pups were the least gross, but they were not a regular purchase because they just were not that good. Any kind of meat free nuggets was so yuck. Hard no. We did eat a little tvp, but it had a weird sweetness I didn’t like. Soy curls are so much better! Fast forward about 8-9 years and my middle child went vegan. By this time I was a pro at cooking lots of yummy bean, rice, and pasta dishes so I didn’t really care about mock meats, but I started looking at vegan cheese. This would have been around 2004-ish. Omg, vegan cheese was all absolutely disgusting. It was waxy and gross and for sure would never melt. I just didn’t cook anything which required cheese. I did get quite good at making a vegan cheese dip with nutritional yeast, though. When I started trying vegan cheese again over the last few years, I was amazed. There are some really good ones out there. And the mock meats available now are miles away from the weird gross stuff we tried years earlier. For sure the technology has improved, but think the real difference in vegan cheeses and mock meats came when the low fat craze faded out and they stopped trying to make vegan cheeses and burgers and hot dogs and nuggets with zero fat.
@xSwordLilyx
@xSwordLilyx Жыл бұрын
My bf also was like 'mock meat is disgusting', he was raised by Adventists and they encourage you not to eat meat so he had those awful hot dogs and burgers at any function and thought they were terrible. I was like no, it's different now, and then we ate impossible burgers and yes, they are delicious.

That's so cute. I remember when I went vegetarian as a teenager was right when Morningstar started being carried in stores. My family and I had no idea how to cook tofu or where to find it. Eventually I found tvp and "soy nuggets" at an Indian grocery store and those really saved my health and a lot of money. It was so much cheaper.... it's crazy how much you can find now but I only ever see something similar to what I found back then in your videos (the soy curls look really similar) I think westerners forget that a lot of the world is actually used to eating at least vegetarian. It's not that difficult once you have access to the right products and recipes.

I agree with you about the 30-year vegan. I didn't use them as transition food at all. I avoided ANYTHING that looked like or reminded me of animal products. Everything I made was basically a new experience in food from around the world in vegan form. It was a fun adventure and I enjoyed each dish without nostalgia or other emotional triggers that wouldn't be so fun. I do enjoy mock meats and similar products now, but that's because they are so easily available today (11 years for me) and I am also in support of it for people who feel they would prefer familiar food over exotic.

My younger son went vegan at age 15, in 2000. We’ve always had this thing where we’ll try a new food in the parking lot of the grocery store if it’s a food we’re eager to try and if it doesn’t have to be cooked, obviously. Anyway, we bought some vegan soy cheese. I spit mine out on the ground it was so bitter and somehow simultaneously grainy, rubbery, and greasy. It was bad. It sat in the fridge for a while until we both admitted there was no way we were eating that and just threw it away. And, yes, he is still vegan 22 years later.

I've been vegan for 6 years and I actually eat more mock meats now than when I first transitioned into veganism. I'm in college now (I went vegan when I was 13) and mock meats are a super convenient way to get protein and necessary nutrients into my diet without having to spend much time cooking. A lot of the people who say that mock meats are only good for transitioning seem to think that all processed foods are equal, but that's not the case. For example, a gardein beefless patty is miles different from vegan mozzarella sticks. It's totally possible to incorporate processed foods into a healthy vegan diet.

I’m a primarily wfpb vegan since nearly 6 years now. We never thought, that our baby could be a picky eater, bc we ate everything growing up. So it hit me very hard. My baby is a picky eater since he started eating food. He is now 20 months old and he is eating not enough and also nearly no fruit and veggies. I am really well educated about nutrition, but of course I had appointments with specialists, like a pediatrician, specialized in vegan diets, a dietitian, specialized in picky eating… I’m a little bit desperate. I also booked the picky eater course from solid starters…

About keeping food in the mouth - when I was a kid I sometimes zoned out and kept chewing something for too long to the point that it was a gross pulp and I didn't want to swallow it anymore. To fix this situation my grandma told me that if I chew something for too long it turns into a toad in my mouth 🤣. So one time I was walking around in the house and chewing a carrot for too long and I didn't want to swallow it anymore cause at that point I was sure it's a toad, I was thinking what to do with it and suddenly I unleashed a monstrous sneeze and evenly sprayed whole white wall with carrot pulp, ceiling to floor. After this event my grandma dropped the food-turning-to-toad rhetoric 😁

If you like salad, try your greens the way Cava makes their super greens. Kale, brussel sprouts and broccoli. Just pulse each ingredient in a food processor until pieces are pretty small, then mix together and add the rest of your salad ingredients. It’s a way to get in some brussel sprouts and when they’re raw they don’t have that bitter taste.

I hate to be that person, but I just found a channel that critics vegans based on absolutely nothing but her feelings. There's so much dumb stuff and she did a video on some of your videos. She even lies and says at some point that the academy of nutrition and dietetics no longer supports veganism for all stages of life. I know you'd completely debunk everything with *actual evidence.* The channel is Vegan Deterioration or something like that. If you feel like destroying someone with facts sometime soon then perhaps that's the channel to reply to. Then again I hate giving channels like that publicity so I understand if you'd rather not react to the video. But I also know it would be so satisfying to see that video get completely debunked with science 😄

@@Espresso_plz 100%, so I was surprised she has even one person who supports her channel, but apparently there's those corners on the internet that are just full cringe 😅

When I heard her say soak the chia seeds, it reminded me of a news story about a man "drinking" dry chia seeds with a gulp of water and they expanded in his throat and choked him.

The try new things part of veganism is honestly very off putting to me as an autistic person. It takes a lot for me to try a new food and those new foods have to be on their own. I can't cope with stuff mixed together or too many different things on my plate. The messaging of you can just try new delicious foods makes me very anxious. It's overwhelming and my brain just says no.

That sounds really hard! Veganism is about reducing harm - as far as is possible and practicable. So don't feel discouraged if making big changes isn't practicable for you right now. Your mental health matters most. If you're interested in reducing your consumption of animal products, maybe you could pick one ingredient that you feel ready to leave out and commit to trying one alternative per week (or month or any other timeline that suits you) until you've found something that works for you. Once you're comfortable with that, you can move on to the next ingredient. Any change you implement for the long run has a positive impact. :) Good luck on your vegan journey!

I feel like this word is overused as I spend waaay too much time on politic tube lately but clarifying "fortified" plant-based milk was so BASED.

It's her "water closet". It's cool place to film videos there. Besides, she can do two things at the same time.

Hey, I love your videos, they help me so much feeling my best on a vegan diet. In this video you said (16:10) "if you can reduce your child's chance of becoming obese, honestly that's one of the best things you can do for them health wise." Until a few weeks ago I would have 100% agreed. I've been listening a lot to the podcast "maintenance phase" on Spotify, I don't know if you've heard of it. They have an episode called "is being fat bad for you?" which really made me reflect on my beliefs about being fat and the health consequences. I thought obviously you will have higher risks of certain diseases if you are fat. But after that episode I'm questioning this. It appears to be much more complicated than that. I don't know, I was just wondering if you, Swayze, or you whoever is reading this from this smart community has any thoughts on this. Anyway, thanks for the great video and have a lovely day :)
