Nigerian here. I also thought Nwabali's club, Chipa, were wrong to have released such a statement. I just felt he was trying to get enough attention on him so that they can sell him for a good price. Some guy who we were watching the game with, said, right at the beginning of the game that Williams will not perform well in the game especially penalties should the game get there. His explanation for what was then an assumption (but he was very sure), was that usually when the man of the match is the keeper and performed exceptionally well in one game and made headlines, they do not perform well on the next game because they then divert to the normal “guessing” goalkeeping technique with the assumption that the new players they’re playing against would have prepared themselves according to how he (the keeper) performed on the last game.

As a Nigerian, I congratulate the bafana bafana for the way they play. But I want to emphasise that Nigeria have no team but just a squad. No Nigerian believes we would be in Afcon final with this squad but here we are.

Bafana played well. They just were not clinical in front of goal. The Nigerians came up strong 2nd half and it unsettled the Bafana squad. In all, I give South Africa 80%, they exceeded my expectations. Third place is on Saturday, they should bring that home if possible.
