I just got mine in a few days ago and I absolutely love it so far. Build quality is stellar, sounds are stellar, and the features are as well. The oscillators are super lively, and man, the filters are amazing. And I actually think the interface isn’t that bad, I’ve been having fun programming it. Great video btw! Just subscribed :)

Totally agree Igor, Uno Synth Pro has a lovely warm and lush sound. And it can get really gritty too with the saturation. ;) Great for upfront basses, leads and pads!

I absolutely love the sound of this synth and picked my keyboard version up new for almost half the going rate on an Amazon limited time deal for under £300. I actually like that it's paraphonic, as you can get some interesting effects by having different wave shapes and tuning for each oscillator, and you can do chords at a pinch - which opens this synth up for being the basis of a multitrack recording.

Uno Synth Pro rules! A great synth still. Oh a few questions first. What do you want from your synth? Is analog important? Do you want good onboard effects? Do you need alot of polyphony or is a monosynth enough?

Even though i can get something similar from Synt plugins. I loved the sound of Uno in the videos such as yours. So I am looking at the original Synth, Desktop or the Pro.

Hi Mattias, I always get back to this video whenever I need to understand more the UNO Synth Pro, I got mine a few months ago but still experimenting a bit after work! Have a question, what kind of audio cable are you using? I’ve been searching for this colored ones on Amazon with no luck, finally got Hosa estéreo 1/4 (M) - Dos estéreo 1/4" (M), 5 ft It’s a Y stereo dual to single 1/4” TRS but all black Thanks in advance 🤗

I’ve been saving up for a few months to buy this, and I’ve only just now realized that it’s not really polyphonic, but just divides the oscillators, a little disappointing, but I think I’m still going to get it. I was worried about the digital FX, but they sound nice in your video. Another thing I’ve been worried about, is I love how on the original Uno, when you create a sequence, there’s little lights above each note, so you can look and see immediately what notes are in your sequence. It seems like the pro has no way of seeing what the notes in the sequence are. Any thoughts on this??

Hi Joshua, when you have sequenced stuff on the Uno Synth Pro you can hold a step and look at the screen and it will tell what note / notes are on that step. To see all the different notes on one step you need to use the data wheel. The small screen is a bit fiddly, like I mentioned in the video. But it’s possible to see what notes reside on a step. When I occasionally record sequences I just rerecord the steps if I did some misstake rather than diving into the fiddly mini-screen. Yeah its a pity its not a poly synth. But it does sound collossal. Yeah fx sound great. But the meat is in the oscillators, dual filters and the analog overdrive. I think its a nice analog synth take, minus the mod-matrix and mini screen. I mostly use it as a bass, analog floaty pads (2-3 notes is sufficient if you wash it with delays and reverb) it sounds majestic like in my demos. What other synths are you looking at? ☀️

Hey Mattias, you seem to have had alot of experience with the uno line. What's the difference between this and the newer pro X? Aside from knob controls and less menu diving on the pro X? Is the Pro X all of what this is except more? Does it have the same sound presets as this too? I had been thinking about the hydrasynth explorer, and the minifreak, but I liked that ibiza sounds video you did, which has piqued my interest in what Uno has to offer. TY

Awesome, I’ve got the Uno Synth Pro X incoming in a few days. Expect a review very soon. from what Ive heard (sound demos on YT) the Minifreak has a more ”digital” sound to it. Just my opinion. But it looks like a super fun synth. The Unos can be really meaty and gnarly which I love. I already have the cold sound via the Novation Summit. 😂 Can’t wait to try the Uno Synth Pro X in action and see how it compares to the previous gen models. 🤘🎅🥁

Hey Mattias. I have a Steinberg UR22C audio interface with a MacBook Pro M1. Which (not so expensive) keyboard do you recommend using with this? I have doubts regarding the MIDI connections etc.

Do you prefer controls over a big keybed? If so I can highly recommend the Arturia Keystep 37 which I use in my videos nowdays. Very tight and featurefilled package. When I record larger piano / string pieces I use the Komplete Kontrol S61 but its a different (higher) price and a larger keybed (unit). Hope the info helps. Ah yes the UR22C is an excellent low budget alternative the sound quality is top notch. All these new gear work fine with the M1.

I was a bit confused since most midi keyboards nowadays (like an alesis V25) only have a USB port and no midi, but good to see there are alternatives too which can be connected to the interface. The keystep should be a good alternative then

I don't think the Uno is for me, but interesting review anyway, thanks Mattias. I’ll allow myself to ask a question unrelated to the video, if that’s ok with you. I’m currently in the process of organizing my sample library and am pondering on how to do that. Would you be willing to share your thoughts on a practical approach to structuring and organizing a sample library and VSTs? Which programs/plugins/VSTs/samples do you save on the internal SSDs and which on external SSDs? Which external SSDs can you recommend?

Hi Fabrice, thanks. Sure no problem. I've had the same setup for my libraries for a decade or more. I organize my setup like this: On my MacBook Pro laptops I do the following: - Internal HD: Omnisphere, Trilian, Stylus RMX, Logic Pro X (big core library) and all DAWs and their core libraries obviously. But I rarely install all core libraries in other DAWs except Logic (it also has the best core library ever...) - External HD (One single 2TB disc): A few selected Spitfire Libs (Albion, One, Tundra) + a few EW libs... and the libs I use the most, like CInematic Strings, Emotional Cello, ERA + a few I can't recall (I'm heading to bed). On my stationary Macs I have: - Internal OS Disc: All DAWs (Logic, FL, Bitwig, Live, Studio One). - Internal SSDs 1-2TB x 5discs: all sample content I divide the discs for easier access like: All my Heavyocity libs and Spitfire on one disc. One disc for EW libs and 8DIO. Omnisphere, Trilian and Stylus RMX + a few others on one disc. One disc for old weird libraries. ;) ...list goes on. But I've come to use less libraries and more of my own organic recordings. It's more fun. But obviously when it all comes down to orchestral sounds it's mostly Spitfire, EW and 8DIO for choirs. Why when they have plenty room on the Pro is the screen so small? surely it doesn't cost that much more for something twice the size especially if the system requires a lot of menu diving!

Hi , thanks Giacomo. Happy to hear you enjoy my content. I am using two Sony camers, a 6600 and a 6400. Both cameras have Sigma 16mm f1.4 lenses. I also sometimes use a Canona EOS750D with 24mm 2.4 lens, but it's rarely these days when I have two Sonys. You can check my gear here: www.morningdewmedia.com/resources-for-music-production-and-video/ The major work is to get the lighting right. If the lighting is wrong even these cameras will look crap. I make sure the lighting is top notch first. I use primary (front), secondary (side / back) and third lightsources most of the time. And also some fill & ambient lights to taste.

Very fat patches it came with. I feel the basslines you play sound very similar to Carpenter Brut & Pertubator. Very cool. The Uno Synth looks amazing. Would probably just try to recreate Vangelis things with it. The perfect Blade Runner synth.

Thanks Elrinth, yeah I think it sounds very fat. Agressive if you want, and silky smooth if you want. Haha, absolutely, I'm going to perform some Vangelis leads with the Uno Synth Pro in the next video. ;) Excellent synth for Blade Runner 80s sounds indeed! For Blade Runner they used a Yamaha's CS-80 which is an uuuuber expensive synth these days. And very hard to maintain.... old analog synths tend to need tons of maintenance. But you can enjoy the CS-80 as a plugin. But plugins aren't the same kind of fun and hands on experience. ;)
