I don’t need another Fatar keyboard so the Full Size one not really. The Desktop with its Korg Volca like keyboard MAYBE. It’s small enough but the addition of a Moog and a Dreadbox Typhon recently has me hesitating. I even have a fair amount of IK Bucks or whatever they are called and can drop price by about 20% but still hesitating……. I’d likely NOT use it’s sequencer as I’m down the Akai Force workflow DEEP for sequencing.

I like this trend towards 37 key synths and controllers. It seemed weird that basically every mainstream midi controller had a 25, 49, 61, and sometimes 88 key option, but rarely a 37 key version. But for my set-up, 37 keys is like the perfect fit.

The knobs on the Argon8 are a major letdown, absolutely no resistance, which feels cheap and is the main reason I didn’t buy it (I’m very particular about tactile feel). In contrast, the encoders on the Uno Synth Pro are excellent, offering just the right amount of resistance you d expect from a premium synth. The keybed on both synths is fantastic, with a satisfying soft resistance. The Uno Synth Pro chassis is also well made no flimsy plastic here, it’s solid metal that feels premium to the touch. The rubber buttons are another standout feature, offering a far better tactile experience than those on a Push 2 for example. The only trade off that makes this synth more affordable compared to similar models is its limited four knob (no dust or degrade over 2 years i've used it for) layout for controlling functions. However, navigating via buttons is intuitive and straightforward, quite similar to using a Push 2. and this thing is analogue ... nuff said... great vid btw

@novakillbones21403 жыл бұрын
27 minutes and not a word about whether you like it or not. So I assume that means you don't, right? I also find it weird that you bag the Desktop version for feeling "plasticky". I've had mine for a week now and to me it feels really solid and the "fit and finish" is absolutely first rate. I definitely prefer plastic as it is far more durable. Metal chassis get scratched and dented and the paint peels off. I'd actually pay extra for a plastic chassis over a metal one. Both my original Uno and the Uno Pro Desktop feel like they'll outlast any of my other hardware synths. BTW, when I saw your problem with the Mod Wheel, I checked mine and it responds to even the lightest touch so I think that may be a problem with your review unit. For the record, I am really impressed with my Uno Pro Desktop. It is a massive step up from the original and IK have addressed all the major gripes owners had with the first Uno Synth. To be fair, they have created a couple of new issues but I think, overall, that it is a very, very good synth. It's got a much nastier character than my Analog Keys and I think it will give my bandmate's Subsequent 37 a run for it's money, for just one-quarter of the price.
@BoBeats3 жыл бұрын
I actually think its a pretty good synth. Sometimes I just dont feel like putting extensive ”i like this” sections in my videos if I dont have something specific I want to convey. In the video I think I managed to convey I like the sound, the build of the keyboard and that theres a bunch of unique features. Glad to hear you dig the build quality but its interesting that you ask for my opinion, and then question why I have an opinion on the build of the desktop. For the money its ok, but not great. The keyboard however is great. The desktop, compared to pretty much any other desktop synth I own, feels light weight and not durable. Thats just how it *feels* to me. The contrast to the keyboard is massive to me. Its not a 100% objective technical observation about materials and how durable they are, but rather how they feel as instruments to me.
@rodolphep0nthus5552 жыл бұрын
Do you work for UNO or what? How can you say plastic is better than metal? The consensus is that the desktop version is what it is, pretty cheap construction and this is logic, it's very affordable, they have to cut corners. I think you're a bit overdoing it, but don't take it bad, you're maybe a little too enthusiastic

I just hope they improved the build quality. I owned an OG Uno synth. I hated it. The build quality sucked big time. To sweep the filter I had to apply pressure at an angle on the encoder or it would do nothing. I had problems with all the encoders. Also the “keyboard” was not very responsive. I almost had to beat the thing to get any sound. If I was going to spend that amount again I would get a Volca Keys, Bass, or another Crave.

Is this more versatile than MicroFreak?
@BoBeats3 жыл бұрын
No. Microfreak offers multiple engines. But this is analog so its a bit hard to compare

I guess I’m superficial as I just can’t stand the look of it. Function wise, seems like it’s worth the money

Not much different other than layout and matrix to original?

I'm not impressed by either the look, sounds or capabilities of these two 🤷🏻♂️ the desktop version might be fun to have around, but the bigger one does not seem to be worth the investment

$650+tax here in the US and this is comparable to the Sub 37 and Pro 3 at twice the price. I personally think it’s a bargain. The $250 difference between the desktop and keys version was totally worth it to me. Build is rock solid and the keys are the best of anything in my studio under $1k. All these modulations are a sound design dream.

@@RobertSaintJohn agree. Sub 37 and Pro 3 of course have way more dedicated knobs per function. Other than that, the UNO Pro seems close feature wise; on par with the Sub 37 that comes without built-in FX (other than analog drive) and has only 2 OSCs + SubOsc (no 3 note paraphony, limited control over Osc #3), but has a bit better envelope/mod matrix flexibility. I have a Subsequent 25 (VCOs and VCF as on the 37), looking forward to compare it sonically to the UNO Pro, which will hopefully arrive at my door next week. Pro 3 has some extra features like 2 more LFOs, 1 more ENV, tuned feedback; and OSC #3 is digital and can do wavetables ... UNO Pro cannot fully touch this, but large version costs less than half of regular Pro 3 version.

Anyone not interested in any instrument esp a keyboard synth coming out of Italy is a stupido imo

400$ for the plastic toy version is too much, it is overpriced!! For 150$ more I'd rather get a Mini XD. But the keyboard version is good deal for 650$.

Sounds great, but if I have to choose between the Uno pro or the Microfreak... which I do since my birthday is coming, it is not going to be the UNO pro...

Man next to the sleek Circuit Tracks, the desktop Uno really looks like a kids toy. Props to Novation on the upgrade. The old Circuit looked like a toy too.

It sounds good but at 400 international monetary units for the desktop version it is far too expensive for what you get. If it drops to 300, now your talking.
@BoBeats3 жыл бұрын
300 for a 3 oscillator analog… that would make it cheaper than a Microfreak.
@albertswift3 жыл бұрын
@@BoBeats indeed, if not the same price. Although quite different, I imagine they are competing in the same sector of the market.

What's as good or better for the very same money?

Well, it is now at 299.. So we're talking 🤣. It's a very competitive price now for what you get. Pretty unbeatable
