I remember reading years ago that the bigger your house, the less close the family is. When I was growing up we had the smallest house and were so happy! When I got older my parents moved and we had a much bigger house but we ended up not spending as much time together. I think too much space can be a bad thing. I’m sure you’ll miss the house you built, but your family will make your new house a home ❤I wish you all happiness.

Barbara, I am sorry to admit that I actually unsubscribed from Lynn's channel about two months ago because I couldn't identify with the "perfect brand new construction house with the all white kitchen". When I saw her "We're Moving" video, I was intrigued and definitely re-subscribed to her channel. I am excited to see what she does with this character filled home that is more representative of the way so many of the rest of us live. We deleted the KZbin app off of our kids devices long ago and if the littles want to watch something we put it on the big TV so we can monitor. The world is a scary place these days. My husband and I are remodeling since we do not want to move when he retires in December. It was extremely important that he gave his input and what made him happy. So many channels focus on the picture perfect look when in actuality functionality should be focus. Men should have just as much say as the wife…. I have to clean and organise to music loud enough to sing to. I use audible to go to sleep to. I wasn't read to a great deal as I child, because I was taught to read and write well before I went to school, and as an adult i find it incredibly relaxing. I don't count it as reading, though. The new house is coming along great! Remember to take some time for yourself and to process the huge changes you've been through xxx

Lynne, we have moved 17 times over 28 years (been in our forever home for 12 years now so 40 years of marriage). I definitely get the need to unpack quickly and get rid of the boxes. I did the same thing in every house within the first 1-2 weeks, then after living in the home for a few weeks/months, I was able to see our normal flow and adjust things and reorganize as I went. It does not need to be perfect, it just needs to be put away and for the kids, feel normal with all their stuff and routines. As for sharing rooms: our girls shared a room and our only son had his own room and it was the smallest room, the girls are still close in their mid-late 30’s and our son is close to them also. We had 2 homes with separate living rooms and we did the same as you, centered the kids in one living area but we didn’t like not seeing or hearing what they were doing while we were snuggled in the other living room, so the next homes did not have separate living rooms, which usually meant downsizing square footage, but we actually grew closer as a family and tv and video games were limited and family game night (usually UNO, Rummy and Hand & Foot as we are not much for board games) and puzzles. We have found a smaller home with children was much easier to manage and clean and taught us we did t NEED all the stuff we accumulated with a much larger home (which is what started my form of minimalism). You will get through this moving angst and be able to relax !

I absolutely love your new home. The charm is out of this world. Take your time Lynn on these projects. I understand that it can be a daunting task. I watch Merina from fearfully created. Love her channel. There is one video and she said that really stood out to me. She does a lot of diys in her home. She says: she's concentrating too much on the imperfections in her home. She wrote down all the things little things she needed to redo and got them done. She called it loving on your home. For example the house I live in right now that we lived in for at least 12 years still needs the kitchen updated. But instead, I've embraced it for now and I'm going to do little things that will make it function for me and my household. So love on your home girl. Love the fountain and succulents.

I scored 3 Billy bookcases from IKEA with the glass doors because they were a display they had taken down. I’m so happy with them right now. They are two in my living room and one of my craft room so useful they are a beautiful, dark blue. I have another one that is wood coloured in my bedroom I have 1 downstairs for my canned goods

Sweet Friend, I cannot get over how parallel our lives are right now. We just made our 17th move in 22 years & I cannot do this anymore. I turned 40 this year & physically, I just can’t. I was at the point of unpacking 1 box a day too. It was an emotional move for us bc I too loved the little house I was in but my Daddy’s dementia got unmanageable & had to be put in a nursing home which meant my Mom had nowhere to live, so we took her & her neurotic poodle in but then our lil house was way to small. So we bought our dream home on lots of land, finally quiet off busy roads & a horrid HOA. My boy turns 18 @ the end of the year & this one foot outta the nest thing is hard for him to understand he’s not totally grown yet but he knows I moved out when I was 17 yo to start a life w his dad at 18 yo and so he’s got double dose independence dna, fun times right. You are such an inspiration to me & I just love you to bits. I too am a FL girl, right outside Tampa in New Port Richey & when you moved into the new house & savored the evening cicadas in the backyard, gurl, yes I sooo get that, I too am absolutely smitten w that sound. Btw where did Chris get the fountain if you don’t mind sharing bc I have been on the hunt for a porch fountain and this one would be perfect. Oh & we moved into a 1984 house w a million quirks so I totally get the “project list”. I call it our “house bucket list” lol. Alright, I’ll shut up. Love you. Bye.
