I personally don't think Owies would be asking for too much, or more than he is worth(he clearly loves the club and the boys)🤔 He deserves a contract, but as the club has clearly stated, we only have a certain amount of available player positions, so whatever will be, will be🤷‍♂️

I suspect that they are determined to get the Houston deal done without losing their 1st pick. Owies is reliable, kicks goals, doesnt get injured and is our 3rd highest goal kicker for the year. But he does celebrate a goal that is not in unison with the conservative boring player culture that the Club values. If you remember the Zack Williams celebrations when he was shifted to the forward line and started kicking goals. After about 3 weeks of this he toned down his celebrations. A little birdy told me that he was told to tone it down. Players at our club are forbidden from being themselves. There is a very narrow band of behaviour where the players can act and say things. If you look at most clubs there is a variety of characters displaying different types of behaviour. I dont mind that as long as it doesnt affect the score or the team performance - players doing stupid things and getting reported or giving silly 50m penalties away are definitely not a good thing. But that is not what Owies and Zack Williams were doing after a goal. The Hawks are a good example of players displaying a bit of cheekiness and joy after a goal. The Swans mids do it all the time - remember when Warner made fun of our team when he was running out of the middle and turning back and laughing? Who would do that in our team? I think with the Kennedy and Owies rumours of trades, it's about character rather than performance. Kennedy is a super strong character mentally and physically - in the class of Cripps and Doc. But we want to off load him? Why? Stocker also didnt fit the strict player mould - had to go. Liam Jones dumped for showing strong character and sticking to his principles. Out you go son. It appears that the Club has wanted very robotic and obedient characters that dont rock the boat too much. This is not what Cooke pushed at Geelong, so who has nurtured this "football-irrelevant" toxicity at our club? Who? (too much nonsense by Mr Kann on a Wednesday afternoon? Perhaps, but I want to see this club succeed at the highest level, not have a conveyor belt type manufacturing plant at Princes Park that spews out non-aggressive conservative mediocrity and crushes the natural character and spirit of players. 😁)

Loving the passion from the fellow members/ supporters but not sure dissing players and each other is on point. We’re all wanting the same thing. We’ve all got differing opinions. Moat of our players would earn 5 x their salaries in the corporate world with comparable rituals. They play footy because they love it and they are grinding daily to stay part of our club. Let’s just remember what these players give us and sacrifice for us and show them and each other respect. A bit of agro creeping into these comments of Terry’s videos that probably can wait for the games against the filth. We hate Collingwood and Essendon not each other!!

I'm sorry Terry, but what you say are "facts" are not necessarily so. Austin has said there's a list squeeze on and that's why Owies hasn't been offered a contract. That's what he told the media. Has a list manager never lied before? Why would we "list squeeze" out our 3rd highest goal scorer who is only 27 years old? Doesn't really make sense. You claim it's a fact he hasn't been asked for $700-800k. That's not a fact, that's what his manager said. Has a player manager never lied before? For me, it doesn't make sense why Owies hasn't been signed up. Why does Orazio remain? Just pay him out, he's nothing compared to Owies. The high money demand, using Occam's Razor actually makes the most sense if you ask me.

@@BlueAbroad whatever Fantasia's cost is, it's too much. So there's that... If our cap is so tight that an extra 200-300k cannot be found to sign Owies, whilst chasing Houston simultaneously... Than Austin isn't doing his job properly. There's been so mention of an extremely tight cap, just tight list spots and opportunity discussion (which I don't buy). So which is it? Money or spots? Changing the goalposts a bit here for a video about "facts".

You’re asking different questions, which means you will receive different answers. Just because you don’t get the answer YOU want, doesn’t mean I’m changing goal posts. These are the facts repeated for you: - Owies hasn’t been offered a deal at Carlton due to a list spot squeeze. - He hasn’t spoken to Carlton at all about salary because they don’t have a list spot - He has to meet with other clubs because Carlton don’t have a list spot

Club should quit stringing Owies along and just de-list him if he's not going to be an afterthought to some hyped trade. Which is also disrespectful but everyone wants the old school Carlton ruthlessness, right? Maybe something happens on Friday and this will all be forgotten.
@MegaHannaz
@MegaHannaz 18 күн бұрын
Why would we do that?! What a ridiculous thing to say.... Carlton has identified him as someone who is potentially surplus to needs and has trade value - he is also out of contract. There is no harm in letting him explore what opportunities there are for him in the trade market before negotiating a fair deal for both parties. Carlton are finally doing their due diligence on players before signing them up to contracts that will hurt us long term. I like Owies and would be happy for him to stay, but no players feelings should be put ahead of the club's best interests, ever.
@Equality-7-2521
@Equality-7-2521 18 күн бұрын
@@MegaHannaz Owies can explore opportunities if they de-list him just as easily. Looks like they will not be offering him another contract, full stop. The only due diligence going here is Austin and Co. trying to see if they can squeeze a 2nd round pick out of another team. I would prefer to keep him rather than hope for miracles out of his fellow smalls, but accept the team is overloaded there now and none of the others have any kind of trade value worth speaking of. Don't like it at all, but it's reality. Having said that, I dislike a trade system where a Club can simply refuse to re-sign somone and still get compo. Or let him twist in the wind for weeks and then cut him loose with consequences. It should be NBA rules where they either have to work out a sign and trade, meet any offer another team makes, or cut him and get nothing.

Problem is that once this POX starts, the players mindset is never the same towards being loved by the club, even if he stays!
@MegaHannaz
@MegaHannaz 18 күн бұрын
@@Equality-7-2521 I guarantee you that they will offer him another contract if no one wants to trade for him. Trying to squeeze a 2nd round pick of another team for him is the definition of due diligence - to let him go for nothing is complete and utter negligence. I don't like the trade/draft system either, but the club is doing the best they can within the rules. Once again, the club is bigger than the individual.

@@ShinyBlueBoots We have no idea what has gone on behind closed doors. For all we know this was instigated by Owies or his manager.
