Ashton moir for me. He seems to be able to do some “special” stuff so I’m excited to see him do more. I don’t think motlop has “it” ie he often gets caught by the opposition and doesn’t seem to have the ability to do special things

Is it a mini rebuild yet? Wondering about the wisdom of depending on the kids being the new leadership group and deciding our veterans have been holding us back. If Binns, Moir, Wilson, and Smith are playing a bunch of games next year (not counting injury replacement for the purposes of this discussion), it means four other veterans are out. Whom do you see getting replaced? That doesn't seem to be part of anyone's assessment. I am of course excited about what next level guys like Elijah and Motlop can hit in 2025, but it's getting a little weird with all the hype that a bunch of skinny 18 year-olds who have never done anything in the real world are the key to winning the flag now. I know that's not your intent here, but it sure sounds like that's the mood going around. And still no discussion whatsoever on the coaching dynamics and new game style, which can lift or sink all of it. Nick Newman recently said they haven't even looked at the Brisbane fiasco and don't want to talk about it. They subbed Voss out and everyone has swept it under the rug.

Evening Tez, yep good five though for me I think of Ollie more as a proven product, yes I think next year with the postion change he's going to go gang busters but that's already factored in my mind. Elijah is going to prove his draft position was spot on, as you say mate second year comfortable and confident so him i have in my five. Cowans same as Ollie for me, imbedded as senior player and continuely improving each year by some distance but like Ollie a form line I've factored is as expected so not that outside form imput. Mots is part of my list for all the reasons you discuussed, his improved form will be a bonus we didn't have last season. Binns top of the list, I think he showed end of the year he's potentail impact when started from first bounce and in right position. So I've Mots, Ellijah and Binns, I'm tossing up with Lord and Moir, each can have real impact in their positions if they fullfill their form potential. I think I'll pick Lord, his cleanness and lack of panic in the thick of it will be priceless to our centre play, if he can take that next step. My bolter is Billy Wilson, Look at his face end of last season when he wasn't picked, his hungry, he thinks he deserves his shot, he hasn't form in a senior game but you hear the club say his got talent, perfect petagree for a bolter. Like youu mate not putting Jagga up because I think he's ear marked to start the season and the talents undeniable, it why I went lord over Moir. Jagga lives up to expectations, lord takes that next step added to the talent already in the centre line, happy days. So this's my five, Binns, Mots, Ellijah, Lord and Billy Wilson

@PetraKann15 сағат бұрын
The young players need to be shown some faith by the selection committee when their form is strong. They also need to be persisted with and given some genuine game time with well defined team roles. Every position in this team must be earned and getting a senior jumper is about making the team better, especially over the long term. Selection integrity cannot be compromised because it's a guaranteed way of wrecking young player's development and confidence as well as poisoning team culture - and everybody knows where that leads a club to.
@wow_Jones_ikon11 сағат бұрын
Absolutely agree with you Petra, the end of last season and the slowness in making needed change testament to that.
@PetraKann11 сағат бұрын
@wow_Jones_ikon injuries forced the selection committees hand in the last two rounds. It shouldn't need a crisis to reward a few young players during the years. Bins for example played consistently in the reserves and didn't get a call up until the last two rounds. They were making excuses about Moir that he couldn't play out a whole game. Lord was ready to play. They were scared to play inexperienced young talent. I bet the Tigers will show case a few if their young recruits in the opening round next year. We will probably do that with Jagga. Our club has turned into a very tentative, conservative and riskless organisation. They have improved under Vossy and Cookie but they are still scared.....
@wow_Jones_ikon10 сағат бұрын
@@PetraKann Scared seems to accurately some up the feeling in selection I got at times and it showed in the way the season fell away, understanding there was injury but we can't keep blaming that, and in fact as you rightly point out if not for these injurys we'd still have know idea how the young blokes would perform at the next level. Vossy kept talking about selection integrity yet played players struggling with soreness or bring them straight back, not on form but previous reputation. The opposite to bold hence the sense of being scared. Enjoyed this discourse with you Petra as I have at times during the season on the chat, have a merry Xmas and happ new year, look forward to encountering you in the chat next year, Go Blues

Ashton Moir has the x, that's what the Blues need. Those sticky fingers and the poise to advantage from "A" situation is what the Blues absolutely want. With Owies gone, that leaves a certain inflexibility we should/could have taken advantage of to provide balance. Variety on the ground is what Carlton must aim for to blend with the obvious tall forward talent. Re: Owies, let's hope that Jaxon can provide something that we already had.

I agree mismanagement wasted last season as well as some dubious team selections and player positional changes . Cunningham Marchbank and Martin needed better rehabilitation programs. Season 2025 is our change to show the competition was we have got and what we stand for as players and a team .

My feeling is shouting out your frustrations over the fence and screaming to a third generation player like Jsos as an example that he is a disgrace to his family name and the jumper is just not on EVER !! That broke me !!! It’s not constructive and it’s not acceptable EVER!!! I don’t care who you are or how much money you give to the club. That sort of thing cuts deep..to the person receiving that sort of verbal abuse and to everyone listening to it around. How could anyone hurt someone they cheer on and wish the best for do that. Yes I get angry, frustrated and all of the above but I can’t even boo our past players let alone our own !! It’s bad enough the media write and say crap let alone your own supporters. Ppl should stop and think if I wouldn’t have the guts to say it to their face then I shouldn’t on social media .. !!! Also I’ll add that the saying ‘sticks and stones…’ was fine once but today those words are in writing and out there for everyone to see in perpetuity and that’s the difference.

G'day Tez, first thing is as I've said last time it depends on wether its all about the money or not, saying that if it was all about money he would have gone last time. Plenty of money floating about from others then. And the modern player seems to value the enviroment as much as money, How many big talents have left their club until late in carerrs if happy at their club. So mate like you I believe he'll stay, lets face it even staying he'll set himself up finacally for life. The Fremantle deal with their bloke complicates at the manager club level of negoitation I suspect, is the new bench mark is what his manager's going to say but either way he'll get a long one, with us or someone else.I'd be concerned if we went the Fremantle length, he's a ruckman, the body toll is a lot more per game than other positions and he's never going to be a bull type of body to help absorb the punishment. By the end of a extra long contract he'll be a mobile injury room. How long, I'd preferr five years, see how the bodies going and the promise he shows I guess but lets face it he's the upper hand and seven more likely agreeable to both sides if he's serious about staying. Love your work mate, Go Tez, Go Blues

Obviously he's got to be paid a fair amount, and there's a definite crunch with our salary cap. A lot of opposition fans, mostly Geelong fans, have been saying he's as good as gone, but it's clear he loves the group and the club, so with some preparations and adjustments I think we'll be able to put forward an agreeable deal for him to sign on.

I think things are done differently across all business and society in general these days, to what they were. I think that's a good thing.
