Marvel Legends Ikaris Review!!! People are Going to SLEEP on this but I LOVE IT!

Thanks for checking out my review of the Marvel Legends Ikaris!!! I feel like it’s pretty rare for Hasbro to put so much effort into such an obscure character, yeah he’s doesn’t have amazing articulation and he’s light on accessories but Hasbro and Gentle Giant did an amazing job with the sculpt and the detail!

A figure like this leads to a pretty interesting conversation when it comes to collecting habits and priorities: do you prioritize the objective quality of a figure, or your attachment to the IP/source material that a figure is based on? To put it another way: would you rather have a great figure of a character you don't have any attachment to, or a mediocre figure of a character you really like? I'm a hardcore comic book fan (I have shelves filled with TPBs and omnibuses, I make weekly trips to my local comic book shop, I go to cons, etc.), but I have NEVER met anybody who says Eternal is one of their absolute favorite comic IPs lol To me, I think it's very interesting when a lesser-known or unpopular character gets a really solid figure. I think great sculpting and paintwork can entice people to check out a figure they might have otherwise skipped due to lack of attachment to the character. In Ikaris' case, I think it also really helps that his costume design lends itself to sculpt and paintwork due to all of those intricate Jack Kirby details One of my favorite things (maybe my singular favorite thing tbh) about the Marvel Legends line is the depth of the figure selection and how wide of a scope the line has. Sure some of the figures are total duds, but there is no other line out there that consistently puts out C and D list characters for hardcore fans the way Marvel Legends does. In an era where negativity (some of it admittedly justified due to the disparity between quality and price) seems to be the predominant tone of online discourse regarding action figures, I do think we should occasionally take time to reflect on the positive qualities of the lines we collect

I’ll say this: without knowing much of the eternals in general, this figure is so good that it makes me return to the source material to read eternal comics. So I’d def rather have a solid release of a lesser known IP because as a toy collector a cool figure is a cool figure. we as comic fans are fortunate we have that source material to check out.

I will often buy a figure just because I like how it looks. Over the past few years I've bought a bunch of McFarlane Spawn figures of characters I know nothing about purely because I liked the design and sculpt.

This figure is low key my favorite of the wave, truly the care and detail that Marvel Legends put into this character’s figure, when it feels like Marvel Comics has shoved the Eternals aside is very pleasantly surprising. Strongly considering getting a second one to make an “energy eyes” version 🤔

The DC Direct Orion from the Fourth World series (and that while series in general) is spot on Jack Kirby style in 3D form if you want to make a Kirby specific display.

He's a great looking figure! Love it! If you read the original Jack Kirby ETERNALS series as I did in the '70s, this figure does that character justice. Don't need butterfly joints on figures that don't carry weapons. I'm so good with this!

Question: Wade, have you ever done a walk through of your collection as it’s something I’d really love to see. Another great review of a character I knew but wasn’t overly familiar with, I kinda want to know more as he looks really good and your review really shines a great light on yet another great Legends release, they really seem to be putting out some bangers over the last 6-12 months, the face sculpts in particular are fantastic even compared to more high end releases.👏🏼👍🏼

Should've used Vulcan arms and legs, but at least they're not Bucky-Cap. Even though these ones are pinless, the old Spider-Man UK sculpts make the figure look outdated. 8:35 Quasar head swap or a smaller He-Man head swap.

If it didn't have the BAF piece, they could have put a head with eyes shooting lasers and energy effects on the fists. And that back part of the hair I found strange, and I even remembered that he had short hair in his first appearances and in Neil Gailmain's comics.

So nice how you praise Jack Kirby in this review, your idea of Hasbro making Kirby Krackle effects is great & we need that. I like the character & they got close to making this figure great but it’s only just decent to me. He’s simply undersized, you posed him next to Cap & he was small. Ikaris is nearly same size as Cap, it’s easy to find out that info so Legends team are once more falling short.

Hasbro has been doing well with the figures shoulders now .this figure looks Awesome . There should be an eternal cartoon so that Hasbro can continue making more eternal figures based on the original jack Kirby comic book issues .he created most of these characters after all .this Hasbro marvel legend ikaris figure is made in a more advanced pin less Mar-vell buck they used in magneto X-Men 97 wave one and it came out very cool .i like it.
