Thirteen Ghosts gets such a bad wrap but it's honestly one of my favourite horror movies of all time! The glass house with shifting walls containing all these different ghosts is such a creative original idea. Plus Matthew Lillard's performance in it is so underrated with how layered it is.

@@CarolineCP honestly, that was part of the reason I wanted to watch it, to see her kick the bucket. It wasn't because she didn't belong in movies, though. I just couldn't handle the vapid, snobby persona she kept at the time. I'm not that way now.

You had me at Tusk. When Kevin Smith finally decides to hang up his Director’s hat (he’s been hinting about for like ten years) and people are assessing his career there will be a lot more hits than misses. He is wildly under appreciated, particularly amongst his contemporaries of that era. Among the films that will be reevaluated will be Tusk. It’s such a grotesque, yet utterly compelling story. It will probably still be an acquired taste, but those that have acquired it will learn to love it. Furthermore you’re not wrong. “House of Wax” and “I Still Know…” are absolute gems of the genre. 🎉 Have a Spooky 👻 Birthday 🥳

I often say the great thing about horror is that “being bad” isn’t enough to scare most horror fans away. We know a horror doesn’t have to be “good” to be good. A bad drama is just bad A bad comedy is just bad A bad action is just bad A bad horror could still be a great time. The real divide isn’t between good and bad, it’s between interesting and boring. Horrors are rarely boring even if they’re bad. It’s also the most diverse kind of genre imaginable because a movie that’s both horror and (other genre) combined will always be described as horror. A horror- comedy would get defined into the horror section more than the comedy. Like m3gan, if you could only use “horror” or “comedy” to describe that movie, you’d use horror. It’s like horror is black paint and the other genres are other colors. They’re all overshadowed by black.

Here's 2 of mine, a lot of people hate Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 and Halloween Ends but I am willing to admit that I really love both of them. Again very underrated films. I like the story and camera work, and the fact that they decided to do something unexpected with Halloween Ends, and for me Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 is one of my favourites in the franchise, i even went to see it twice at the cinema i loved it that much. With you on Blair Witch II. I'm old enough to have seen it as a new movie at the cinema and enjoyed it as a creepy supernatural story. Appreciate these videos that bring out the diversity of tastes. I'm always more inclined to hear about why people like something I don't; sometimes that makes me go back and sometimes that is mind-changing. One hill I'll die on is the movie Satanic which has a goofy title and even cheesier promo art. It's an effective supernatural story about true-life horror tourists. I know people have rejected it on the cover art alone but they're missing out (I swear :)

Blair Witch II was the first movie that came to my mind upon seeing the title of this video. It was always my “to go” example for hated movies that I love. Recently I re-watched it, after like 10 years, and I was expecting to “finally” hate it, like “I bet now, with distance and no longer a teenager easily fooled by pretty cool girls, I will get why it’s so bad”. Nope. Still had a really great time! The only explanation I have for this movie low status is that, AS A SEQUEL to Blair Witch (which I do love as well), it’s really off-putting and guaranteed to frustrate (rightly so, to be fair) anyone expecting a traditional sequel. Still, I can’t help to see it as a great spin-off of sorts. I wish there were 5 more experimental Blair Witch movies, as different from BW2 as BW2 is different from the original. Like a crazy antology.

Yes! Do the flipside! (I clicked on the video knowing the first and last movies would be on the list lol) The movies that I like that I'm seeing have 5.5 or less on IMDB are Halloween Kills - 5.5 (I liked it just as much as the first one and the original, not sorry, evil dies tonight and all!); Lucky - 5.0 (can't believe this is so low, seriously); Kill theory - 5.3 (this was just fun, come on); Feedback - 5.5; The houses October built - 5.2 (can't believe this one is so low either); Blair witch 2016 - 5.0 (I really enjoyed this one!); Piercing - 5.5. All of these I rated 8/10, except Halloween Kills, which I rated 9/10. And if I go into my 7/10s: Nightmare on Elm St 2 (5.4), My Bloody Valentine 2009 (5.4), Silent night 2012 (5.2), Dashcam (4.6), The feast (5.5), False positive (4.7), 12 hour shift (5.5), Lake Bodom (5.2), The dead don't die (5.5), Slaxx (5.4), Emelie (5.4), Sorority row 2009 (5.1 - CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED), The new mutants (5.3), Kadaver (5.2). In regards to Dreamcatcher it's important to keep in mind that Stephen King wrote it while under the influence of Oxycodone and by longhand because his injury made it painful to type at his desk, so the fact that the story is fairly coherent is very much a miracle when you stop to think about it. King has said that he isn't particularly fond of Dreamcatcher, both the book and film, and honestly I would be down for a revised version. Also, I highly recommend that everyone here go check out Ryan Hollinger's in depth video on the film.

@@bo2720 The following comes from The Great Stephen King Reread: Cujo In King’s On Writing he immortalizes Cujo with, “At the end of my adventures I was drinking a case of sixteen-ounce tallboys a night, and there’s one novel, Cujo, that I barely remember writing at all…I like that book. I wish I could remember enjoying the good parts as I put them down on the page.” For those who are counting, that’s three gallons of beer a day. What writers drink is often more famous than what they write and this comment has overshadowed Cujo’s virtues, probably forever, which is too bad.

@@sebastianevangelista4921 I dont think it overshadows his work at all, most horror lovers and big movie people know the book and/or the movie. The fact he was wasted beyond his mind and still got published and there was a film made is more of a true testament to his work and mind. I dont know anyone who can drink like that or use drugs and sit on a typewriter and just write a book. I think the rabies Cujo got was probably a metaphor for addiction taking him over.

Funny to me that you're wearing a Godzilla shirt for this video, because today I bought the Shōwa Era Blu-ray collection. Guilty pleasures abound in that timeline! Tusk is a damn good one, apart from Johnny Depp's accent. The exchanges between Justin Long and Michael Parks, and the fact that it was inspired by a real wanted ad (which is a hilarious read) makes it worth checking out. I really wanted to like The Lords of Salem, and I agree that Sherri Moon is fantastic, but the direction lost me by the third act. Plus there were apparently important scenes cut that haven't been released. At least the cinematography was brilliant.

Like, I remember watching The Fog or Midnight Meat Train or that ridiculous Jessica Alba thriller and enjoying them because it was a party with my friends. Tusk: Agree. This is a highly original and effective movie. Swim Fan: Mediocre. This teen Fatal Attraction is okay, but left me wanting. Dreamcatcher: Not perfect, but enjoyable. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer: I was underwhelmed by the first one, never mind this sequel. Lords of Salem: Didn't completely fall for this one, but commend its originality. House of Wax: Been a while since I've seen this, but I remember liking it well enough. Communion: A very under seen film. It deserves a bit more love than it gets. Knock Knock: I really enjoyed this one. Don't understand the hate it gets. Seed of Chucky: This is the weakest of the Child's play franchise, but its not nearly as bad as its reputation would suggest. Blair Witch: Book of Shadows: Not necessarily good, but again not as bad as people say. I think people just didn't like it because it wasn't found footage.

I adore Kevin Smith, and I remember the day I listened to him and Scott Mosier discuss Kevin coming up with the idea for a movie after reading a Craigslist advertisement. I was like "haha he'll never do that"....then he made "Tusk". Micheal Parks was a phenomenal actor and he HATED Justin Long when they first met, and I think it adds a lot to their relationship in the movie. For me, it's a horrific movie, that works on so many levels. Also, Kevin Smith's "Red State" is a pretty wild movie with Micheal Parks that people never gave a chance.

I had to hunt for a good pick, as most of the ones that popped in my had actually were rated in the 6’s. I’m going to go with The Order with Heath Ledgers (5.1). This does straddle the line between horror and thriller, somewhat similar to The Ninth Gate. I count it as religious horror though and I have it on my DVD shelf as such.

I remain unchanged. As others have said, you are the one person that has shown us all over the world through the Internet so much film and content out there that we never would have known it existed had you not made any content of your own about it all. I really do not have any objections of different opinions based on the films you have listed here though. So there is that too. And finally,... HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

🥳🥳🥳Happy Birthday, Emma🥳🥳🥳 🥸 Hope you have a great day! I would love to watch Tusk one day, but I don't think I can. I'm just too scared. I thought it was funny when you talked about the main character's progression......I mean, he becomes a Walrus!? I admit I've been intrigued, it's on my "to do" list.....yes, one day I'll get to it.

I also like Tusk (even though it makes me a little sick in my stomach), Swimfan, Knock Knock, and House of Wax (saw it in theaters). I've never seen Seed of Chucky, but I think I will probably like it. A movie I love that I know no one else does Carrie 2- and I'm sure it's because I could relate to the Carrie character at the time - 1999 I was an unpopular girl in high school.

I don't understand the hate for all these movies. I love Knock Knock, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, House of Wax and Seed of Chucky. Constant rewatches. Especially I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Love me some Brandi and heavy 90's vibes.

Book of Shadows was flawed, but also was expected to be more of the first kind of film and people dodnt want a normal film. I agree it's better than most think, and i like it. I actually have a vhs copy still somewhere - which is the rental copy, they sold off films occasionally and i bought it. I remember i had a theory about how the film explained some of the first film, but it has been so long I would have to watch to watch both again to figure out exactly how it worked (and probably realise it was nonsense). But it was essentially everything recorded shows reality as it is, which is what we see in the first film as found footage. In the second film it is a traditional film, and we are seeing from their perspective which is messed up and not what is really happening. Demonstrated by the ending with the police showing the footage.

RE: Blair Witch Book of Shadows. Well, I will say this as someone who has not seen it since its release, I didn't mind it. I went in though expecting it not to compare to the first with tempered expectations, after all, what could possibly live up to the hype and to be fair pretty much the pioneer in the standard of found footage genre so it was probably a good idea for them not to attempt to out do the original. I liked that it was quite different, yes it definitely felt that it was trying a little too hard to tie into the first one and that it was definitely cash in in on the Blair Witch name but I can't blame them for that I guess. Again, not as good or original but I can say while watching there were a few surprises and I liked some scenes for sure. I DO plan to revisit it again sometime soon after which I suspect I can put this one to bed permanently and not watch it again.

Happy birthday!❤ and actually I like most of these movies, except Knock Knock. That movie nearly gave me an aneurysm. But I"ll do you one better. Jason Goes To Hell. Actually love it, brutal, entertaining, well acted, different and shot in an atmospheric spooky way that was kinda lost after The Final Chapter imo. Down vote all you like, but if you rewatch with an open mind that one is underrated!!

Really enjoyed this video and started thinking of my unpopular horror movie opinions. One of my favorites from recent years is Velvet buzzsaw. It has 5.7 on imdb, but I think it deserves a higher score. The actors have so munch fun with their characters and the art world is portrayed in such funny way. I know the story is pretty bad, but I really liked it. Happy birthday!

Well, there are a number of things to cover, so I will start with my quick list of "unpopular horror opinions" based on IMDB scores: FINAL EXAM (1981) - favorite guilty pleasure slasher. IMDB score 4.6, my score 8.0 SHOCK WAVES (1977) - simple story, wonderfully filmed. IMDB score 5.5, my score 9.0 ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS (1957) - love the story and the weirdness of the monsters. IMDB score 4.9, my score 8.0 KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS (1977) - one of the best "nature gone amok" films and very scary for me. IMDB score 5.7, my score 8.0 WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS (1966) - perfect and scariest kaiju film I've ever seen. IMDB score 6.2, my score 10.0 I will give my response to a couple of your unpopular favorites: TUSK - I understand the black comedy, but for me, it's a punishment that outweighs the crime. The sadness of being kidnapped and disfigured into animal. SWIMFAN - The film is good, but when you listen to the commentary, you learn some behind the scenes and film changes that made the film seem more pedestrian. LORDS OF SALEM - Rob Zombie had a great multi-level story planned but had to cut way back due to budget. Wished he could have made his full film. HOUSE OF WAX - I saw it in the theater with friends and we had a blast watching it. Great cast, director on the rise, and plenty of murder mayhem. Audiences may have become tired of Paris Hilton at the time, but no reason to dislike the film. Heck, if someone didn't like Paris, they should have loved her death scene.
