8:17 -- for a lot of my life i didn't have really intense signs of gender dysphoria, but i still didn't feel comfortable as myself. i was really depressed, and for the time i was in school like 4 different teachers talked to me after class because of how fucking devoid of life i looked. for some reason i never related this to gender, and just thought it was average school depression, and everyone was feeling like this and some people were just better at hiding it, ect. but after socially transitioning and getting as far as i could look wise with my current budget, i feel so much better as myself, and i feel like it was more in the euphoria i got from expressing how i felt than it was the dysphoria from presenting feminine. idk just my take and experience on it

As someone who's genderqueer (AMAB) I still consider myself "gay". Only recently have I started saying, "attracted to masculine" (a2m). So it's this sort of gray area for me, where both are equally valid. While I get the sentiment, telling someone they "can't" identify a particular way in regards to their gender or attraction, is stifling in a world where we're just now seeing new acronyms and words appear. Even a2m or a2f seems niche in its usage right now and I've only ever seen others use it on the rarest of occasions.

About the "genderfluid people can't be lesbians": Lesbian is actually defined as non-men (or non -male aligned people) attracted to other non-men. Some non-binary people identify as lesbians, because it's common for lesbians to feel a disconnect between themselves and womanhood. And when it comes to genderfluid people, not all of them are fluid across the entirety of the gender spectrum. Some are only fluid between woman and non-binary or man and non-binary. Even among those that are fluid across the entirety of the gender spectrum (woman, various non-binary genders, man), some may feel that they have a core identity, so they might still see themselves as primarily woman-aligned. So yes, genderfluid people can be lesbians.

definitely is one definition of lesbian, though other people just use the women attracted to women definition. im a lesbian, and i align more with that definition, but im not going to gatekeep what labels other people want to use. so i think its just down to the individual and what they feel most comfortable with ig

@@jessicastone2179 Sure, but they can't expect society to follow it. Funny thing is society labels people, not the people themselves. A name is just a title, but some people either nickname, shortname or even call you something else entirely. My point is that in the end society makes up their mind on how they see you, that's kind of the price of being a part of society. I'm a male, if you call me a lil' girl ima be confused but if that's how u see me then I just brush it off.

I personally identify as a non binary lesbian as I feel the most comfortable with that label.
@Ethan-ee8rv2 жыл бұрын
Are you comfortable with that, by definition, meaning you are a woman though? I believe you can lean towards women and some NB people consider themselves NB women or NB men because they aren’t 100%.

Sure. I don't think it'll come up tho in a conversation too much. I don't think to this day gender has ever come up in a conversation as mine when referring to somebody.

Quick explanation, don't mean to be rude: Although wlw is a common definition of Lesbian, another common definition is nm (non-men)lnm. As genderfluid people could be considered under the non-binary umbrella, they would be considered non-men, unless their gender identity aligns with being a man at the current moment. So genderfluid people could be considered Lesbian in the 2nd definition if they are not a man in the present, and overlapping into the 1st definition if they are a woman in the present. This is one of the arguments of why Genderfluid Lesbians can be considered Lesbians.
