Completely agree. If you want to just have your dog shaved down every couple of months, I can do that. When the dog is clearly being neglected, then we have a problem. Grooming is expensive and life is freaking hard lately. I'm human too. Have some compassion and understanding. We both want what's best for your dog!

I agree completely! I had a client who had a doodle puppy. We watched this guy grow up for a full year in our daycare and he never once was groomed. After he’s a year old (still unneutered fyi) mom makes a grooming appointment and it’s obviously going to be a complete shave down. She cursed me out on the phone and told me 1) her dog can’t go naked and 2) I’m making her daughter very upset with the news. She ended up picking up the dog without it getting groomed. The dog came back for daycare next week and I think she ended up going with a different groomer who finally shaved it to its skivvies.

That undercoat is where the hair needs to be in the greatest shape. The bootie is the problem when his hair is so long!

I have an Aussie Shep. mix that has shorter hair like a lab. Most of his hair does not need to be brushed daily. His bootie hair needs daily brushing to avoid matting. He has a short tail. I body brush him 3 times a week to disperse the oil in his hair. As he is shedding I brush daily. He gets groomed 2 x a year at the groomers. I trim his paw pads and ears myself. He gets his nails trimmed at his yearly check up with the vet as he does the 2 x a year at the groomer. He is very active and keeps his nails at an acceptable length. If they happen to get a bit longer I trim them, I was taught by the vet. I have found that being able to do simple grooming techniques at home can better their lives in between grooms,

I have a question. I've been a pet groomer for 20 years. I had my own business 5 years ago. I took time off from it for about 4 years. My husband passed away in Feb 2024. Now I am opening back up. Before I didn't have anyone sign a release form, but now I have the forms. Do you recommend clients signing one? Please let me know what you do or think. Thank you so much. Oh! I am enjoying your videos.
