I am back with another addition to the discussing common unpopular opinions series.
In this video I will be discussing common unpopular Red Velvet opinions.

I think Korean reveluvs have different taste from international reveluvs. I have noticed that international reveluvs liked peek-a-boo and bad boy for example but I don't think k fans liked it as much as we do. While rookie and power up did not that much appeal from international fans, it was a bop to kfans rookie and power up even had the most number of wins while peek-a-boo (which I think is a bop) got only few wins (idk but I think it's less than or near 5).

Sterotypes are false information that lazy people use instead of actually doing research or getting to know a black person. She used a prejudice statement to say an ignorant statement and got burn by people WHO CARE for it. I did not call her racist I said prejudice please read clearly next time for the future. Also some other kpop has did a black face game and eating watermelon is that ok too? Should black people and yourself still support them and not care for someone to mock your own race?? I honestly don't care. I'm 40. Educated. Got a nice 401K and made it to 40 without letting people who are afraid of me or assume the worst of me bring me down. I have been on the same job being the only black in two departments for 15 years. Yes, I felt discriminated against and went through a lot to finally be in the position that I'm in, but never did I let them run me away nor let the color of my skin stop me from advancing in my career. I'm well aware of what stereotypes can do, but I am also a fair person. If blacks can imitate other cultures and people can laugh, then I'm not going to get upset at others imitating a stereotype about my culture. We simply can't have double standards like that. I've done stereotypes myself. I guess I'm racist as well. I don't go around looking for racism matters to argue about over the internet. I simply was not offended nor get offended by stereotypes. I AM black. And where are all you nonblack people in America to stand up for my culture? I feel like if you're not black, then you shouldn't be trying to speak for all black people. We don't need you to fight our battles for us. And on the flip side there are plenty of black fans NOT offended, but some of you don't seem to get that. At the end of the day I still love and support Wendy, Mamamoo, and Henry and all the other Kpop idols that imitate black culture, like 90% of Kpop. I guess I should hate Seulgi for laughing at Wendy's impersonation. She should have told Wendy to stop, right? But no one wants to hate Seulgi. I find it funny that no one seems to care when the male idols do things like imitate black rappers and put dreads in their hair and sag their pants and all the other things associated with black males, but Wendy purses her lips and snaps her fingers and all of a sudden she thinks ALL black women are mean and confrontational and insert other projections from those offended that she wasn't even intending to do with that stereotype. Wendy has a swag about her that I don't think she got by watching us in videos. My guess is she truly did have some black friends and they behaved that way around her. And I'm sorry, but some black people DO act like that stereotype. Stereotypes exist for a reason. And just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I don't understand. I simply don't agree with you. You act like you have some racist behavior in you from trying to project things into what Wendy did. That's why I said let's blame her for slavery while you're at it. I shouldn't be hearing about hundreds of years of oppression on black people over this incident. Its effing ridiculous to expect one person to educate Korea on how black people act. And as a black woman I can tell you there are people in my culture that embarrass me and perpetuate the stereotype. And like Wendy, I know we all aren't like that, just like I know not all white girls are Valley girls. It was a damn joke that sensitive ass people are blowing way out of proportion.

@lay day Wendy always gets me into Red Velvet performances! She did an awesome double wink yesterday at their Taipei concert when she said #CookieJar during Cookie Jar and I was smiling from cheek to cheek at how she's able to do little things like that to get the crowd going! She may not be the best dancer in the group, but she's got amazing charisma and stage presence that I just love watching so much!

As a dancer, I can tell you that the choreography doesn't really have anything to do with it. Especially not the ones in question. It's what you do with the choreography that determines if the performance is boring or not. The simplest steps can be entertaining to watch if you make them. Some of the members simply have to work on their stage presence. Seulgi and Wendy usually have a great stage presence, for example, despite Wendy not being the strongest dancer of the group. Just wanted to add that :)

Lillz i 100% agree. i personally think its because yeri isn't as experienced as others and so when she's sick she might not be able to handle as well as other idols and perform with illnesses. and also the fact that she is getting so much hate to the point of death threats and even petitioning for her to be removed and that may have given her a lot of stress,depression or even just the thought of giving up. As for irene i think she may just be tired as for when she go's on reality shows she is super energetic so maybe after giving all her energy in places like that it might be hard to give her all in live performances aswell. ^^

When you hear a stereotype about white girls people easily disregard it. It never gets the same attention as a black persons stereotype. The white stereotype is not at all harmful, it’s more of a mean girls impression than anything.* *but with black stereotypes people are really easy to believe them. Most stereotypes come from movie depictions or more low income communities due to them usually not getting the proper jobs for a handful of reasons that aren’t always their fault.* In short a lot of people already have a bad image of black people. Hearing it from your idol could easily influence you or make you think that they are real when 99.99% they are just rude.*

The way you perform the choreo, it's a make it or break it, as much as the choreo is bad or good, it fits or not. Thier last 2 comebacks they didn't really deliver in stage presence as much as they used to it. Especially in Bad Boy, but people are not taking into consideration what Yeri has been going through, plus she gest hate left and right, even if she does a good job. I love Red Velvet and I do agree to an extent that they are not really deliviring as much in the live performances, they still make AMAZING music, they are experimental and they ALWAYS deliver AMAZING music, plus their sidetracks are always AMAZING and most of the times even better than the tittle tracks.

If you take the chorus out of Rookie I don’t think anyone would strongly hate it. I like the aesthetics and all other parts of the song. I don’t mind the repetition, it’s the pronunciation of Rookie. Wendy must have been a bit annoyed too. I do not think Wendy is racist, she just used inappropriate humor. The majority of normal people have done this type of joke. It’s like saying Asian people are math nerds and bad at driving by default. It was not the right thing to do in the context of broadcasting as a celebrity, but it is not so bad that people need to witchhunt her and threaten death upon people who defend her. I’m not saying nothing is wrong, I’m just saying “chill out, she’s not mutilating puppies.” The white girl behavior that was also seen as offensive... Over half of RV acted like that on their Level Up trip to Slovenia. Honestly I found the black girl impression not as bad as the “bad driver Asian” stereotype or the “drug dealer” Mexican stereotypes that people are less offended by. Low-key offended by Power Up hate... Wendy is the most energetic I’ve seen her in a long time and Seulgi always gives 100%, none of the others look like they’re purposely being lazy. They’re trying hard but people get tired and it’s not even that noticable unless you squint at it. I like how all of the opinions are thought out and explained from all angles.

i like this comment. but for me, i think it's the song that people don't really like about Rookie. but i think a lot of the people disliking it come from Western culture, where music like Rookie isn't very popularized. it's like how Rookie and Power Up got the most wins for Red Velvet in Korea, and Peek a Boo got the least, but Peek a Boo is one of the most loved songs by Westerners. i like the choreography a lot, and i personally see no problem with it, but i also see no problem with the song, so i might just be biased. i just think it's the difference in music culture(?). their Red songs are a lot more common in Korea, whereas their Velvet songs i think are a lot more common in the West, and that's probably why some Westerners don't like Rookie cuz they aren't as used to hearing it. another example would probably be BlackPink's popularity in the US, and Twice's popularity in Korea and Japan. their music appeals to the US, and Korea and Japan, respectively, and that kinda pushes me to believe that it's just the difference of culture rather than the song or choreography of Rookie itself (not saying that Twice isn't popular in the US, and BlackPink isn't popular in Korea and Japan, but they are just seem more popular in the countries i related to them above). but that's just my take on it.

Unpopular red velvet opinions: - Red velvet has one of the best and unique discography in the 3rd gen of kpop, every choreo is different and you can never predict how their dance is going to go. - All of red velvets b-side tracks can be their title track. I agree with everything u said.. But they really don't have stage presence except for wendy and seulgi.. They feel the music and thus express it through their dancing and singing. They connect with the audience.. Joy can but yeri and Irene don't. When Irene smiles it seems forced and with yeri it seems uncomfortable and like she has to remember too.. However I love red velvets discography it is top tier and off the stage all of them have the most wonderful personalities.

Regarding Irene and Yeri not having that good of a stage presence, many factors come into account, one of them being that they have the least lines. Since, most of the time they have to be silent, it makes them look like they are not into the performance. At some point or other, everyone have no expression at all when they are not singing, but Irene and Yeri stand out because the time they stay silent is more.
