Speaking from experience, these guys are essential. I've been living outside of South Africa for over 14 years, done the financial emigration (got the papers to prove it), and yet I've been trying for nearly two years to get a tax clearance certificate from SARS in order to move funds out of South Africa. They keep sending me in circles requesting different documents, then 6 weeks later denying the clearance certificate, requesting more documents, deny, request, deny, request, etc........... I'm still fighting!!

@@HPLKNND I am in a similar situation to you, where I emigrated in 2020 to Europe, on an European Passport. I am "waiting" for SARS to give me my clearance certificate for the last 10 months to move my pension.

@@gregwochlik9233 Yup, that's what I'm trying to move - my RAs. I decided to wait another 10 months when I turn 55. I can then withdraw the funds from the RAs without "permission" from SARS. Fighting with SARS seems to be way too much effort.
