He nailed it ! exactly what you see KZbinrs do , promote a camera system , and then purchase another … lol …

The worst ones promote one system but *at the same time* they actually use a different system for all their work and private photography. (I'm admittedly thinking of a particular, German-language, photography channel. The guy's promoting Nikon but exclusively uses Sony 😂)

@@CC3GROUNDZERO I think the point he’s trying to make is to not get easily swayed by “hype “ . as a photographer we use the tools that get the jobs done . And are not necessarily one particular system because it’s what KZbin sold us . I have the canon 5ds , Fuji 50sii , & Sony a7r5 . I have no loyalty to one or the other . They simply fulfill different tasks . But unfortunately many fall for what’s recommended rather than what is needed . That’s what I got from this video …

This is getting so obnoxious. Everyone who hyped up the insta360 Ace and called it the death of GoPro still uses a GoPro. You'll find this in the instrument/microphone community too. No one seems to use the "best" guitar or mic after two weeks even if they are allowed to keep them. KZbin reviews are worthless unless it's from someone who bought it from their money and has no monetary gain from their review.

That jolly old ROI thing. If there's no positive return on the investment, it has no place in the business. As a photojournalist, I used a Leica M kit. It made sense. It was the perfect tool for the job I was doing. When digital came about I sold the Leica gear and went with what was needed at that time - DSLR. It was a gutwrenching move personally, but right for my business. Today I use Sony, not because I like a camera with the ergonomics of a toaster, but it's the right tool. Keep up the great work bringing common sense to KZbin.

How are you ahead if you don't get a final result you wanted out of your camera? I think pics SOOC on Leica's are great and it's fine to adjust some things as needed. When you use filters to take away the cameras characteristics and make the photos appear as though they were taken with a less expensive camera system just seems counterintuitive. That's what I like about my Fuji's and Lumix. My point is that I don't care what one does with their camera or photos but when someone gloats about doing this I just think they could have saved some money buy using a less expensive camera and then post process the files. To each their own.@@RandomTask1207

Definitely not from a business POV, but it definitely scratches that creative itch I enjoy from film. God, "recipes" and the ability to create your own is so enjoyable and it keeps me focused on what I want to shoot vs being too concerned about editing. Take a shot, looks great, on to the next one. Fuji is top tier.

100%. Fuji made me a JPEG shooter. I have my 6 preset recipes - and nearly all images I take are simply catalogued in Lightroom, and used without any edits - straight from the camera. I still also save the RAWs, but that is as a failsafe in case I really messed up the exposure and need to save an image. (Plus, in a given year, I have 2-5 shoots such as the northern lights, landscapes, ...) where I use the Raws and spend more time editing the photos. The recipes make the cameras so much more than what they should be.

I disagree that everyone wants a Haselblad. It's good that is your dream camera. But I learned to shoot on a Minolta T301. I love the reflex system and the fact the light that I see is the light that enters through the lens. The simplicity of putting the eye to the viewfinder, matching the aperture and speed to the meter indicator, and pressing the shutter. And while my Minolta is absolutely no ergonomic at all, my Nikons are.

I love kit and learning how to use it. That's my foolish things - like the older Mercedes. It's so great to have and use. In my 40 years I have acquired lots of gear and I use it. Not all the time, but it's there when I need it. My photography is what I enjoy in my personal life and I use it to make money too. I guess you can say I don't have a life outside of photography. Been on the fuji system for well over a decade and my reason for choosing it over the big three was Colour and the dials. It always came down to colour for me; but the Dials on the older Fuji systems were a preference; I think about my light in thirds and the XT1 & XH1 at the time were the best that could offer me that and I still use the XH1 as my main camera. The only cameras right now that could realistically get me off Fuji is the Nikon Z9, Hasselblad X2D the Leica SL2 But I cannot justify the price of any of their lenses either for the work I do.

It all depends on what you do. Nikon, Canon, Sony ,Fuji and Panasonic all scratch the itch of the various professions like sports, wildlife, wedding ,landscape hybrid, travel etc. It's nice to have so much choice as well as the super high end lica, phase 1 etc. the glass is a whole different game for sports, wildlife and god forbid film, where vintage movie lenses cost as much as a house. Really glad to hear you really like Fuji for your business. They make great kit

I always describe it as: When I had a Canon it felt like using a hammer, but when I use a Fuji it feels like using a fine paintbrush. The Canon feels like a highly functional piece of gear but it's only nice for doing work, whereas the Fuji is a joy to use on its own. I do occasionally wonder if my actual photography has deteriorated because I now use Fuji, as I no longer have full frame and a less simple interface (autofocus + start up times suck). Canon would be: turn it on and shoot and go, whereas with Fuji it often lose my autofocus point to give an example. At the same time the job feels more fun, artistic and wholesome. I guess every camera has its pros and cons and the best thing we can do is be honest with ourselves :) For me I needed to get that Fuji bug out of my system and I could now switch back to Canon with peace in my heart. But I just came back from nature working with a model with an old film camera and man, my inner artist just really loves impractical gear :D Even using a nice fuji felt like a stap back from the snap that the film camera makes. The finality of it. The commitment.

I miss my M6. It’s the horrendous cost of film/processing/scanning that makes it less attainable in my opinion, not the actual camera and hence my reason for selling it. The X100V doesn’t come slightly close to the experience of shooting an M6 but at least each time I press the shutter it’s not draining my bank account.

Brilliant and exactly right. That being said, I recently bought my dream camera (Nikon F2) with a number of lenses. But, in my defence, it´s for "fun" use only. That, and it is a sh*tload cheaper than an M6. It´s my 18mpg Mercedes... and I love it. I love the feel of it, the sounds it makes, and the images I get from it. No regrets. Now I just need a "Hassy". 😎 Love your videos and your honesty. I learn more from you than most other KZbinrs about photography and I don´t even shoot commercial. Keep doing what you are doing.

I love my GFX100. It’s five years old and still going strong. Hasselblad is trailing Fujifilm by years (and of course uses the same 102MP Sony sensor as Fujifilm). And Leica is no where near competitive on medium format. Phase One is wonderful but I can’t see its value outside of a studio.

Hey there - excellent video and thx for sharing. I actually went through the journey from Fuji X to GFX to Hasselblad X Systems and back to a Fuji X. I am a hobbyist and even there, the practicality of film simulations kind of meant more to me than the 102 MP excellent color of the X2D and it’s excellent lenses. Let alone the need for a lot faster hardware and more NAS files. I may get that M6 or rather a 500cm but even for private use, when you don’t want to miss a shot - use the 100vi 😂🎉

I haven't upgraded cameras, but I have been going through a kit upgrade. First is the sensible, which was a set of manual primes I'm cinemodding for video. They all look amazing, and most of them have been dirt cheap and easy to CLA myself in under a half hour. The quality smashes my Zeiss Contax lenses, and I picked up a set of ten for less than the three cheapest Zeiss Contax lenses everyone buys to mod. Clear win in the ROI department. Then there's the significantly less sensible, which is that I bought myself a Canon dream lens. I'll probably never make any money back on it unless I sell it, but I've wanted one for over a decade, and I finally let myself shell out that cash.

The thing that I love about my XT-4 is that has all the retro dials and manual controls I want. Not only is it great to use (semi-professionally for what I do, hopefully professionally if this year goes well) but the tactile feel is just amazing. I actually really like the Fuji menu system (after moving from a Canon 60D) and there are only some confusing parts to it now that I have used it for awhile. The image quality is fantastic despite it being a 26mp aps-c sensor and the style is very pleasing. It feels like I am doing photography when I use it, not doing work. I'll be upgrading to the Xh-2 or maybe Xh-3 by the time I have enough cash for it but Fuji offers the almost* perfect system for my needs. Canon also sucks ass as a company so if anything, I'd go Nikon or maaaaybe Sony if I ever switch. Maybe even OM Systems if they get off the M4/3 only train and offer an aps-c or FF sensor.

If we look at the timeline, I am now in an age group closer to a hundred than 20. So you should know I have had time to use many camera brands. However, a few years ago, after losing all my professional camera gear on a white water adventure, I chose to buy my next gear from Fuji. I decided for three reasons: The first (and the most important) Fuji was the cheapest on the Finnish market. The second reason was that Fuji updated the software on slightly older cameras. The other brands were updated by buying a new model. The third was a simple and easy-to-use menu. Today, the differences are so minor that all the brands on the market are excellent. So the gist of it all is that I use Fujifilm in my daily work as a photographer... but Hasselblad is still my favourite.

I should have made a video of this, but over the weekend I did a photo shoot and I used my old vintage MC Rokkor-x 50mm f1.4 lens, and a old Konica Minolta 70-210mm f3.5, attached to my 45 megapixel EOS R5 And this was kind of an audition, so to speak, for a much more experienced and fully self-employed photographer, and the pictures came out utterly perfect. And I have used my 50 mm for some product shots also. It's just such a distinctive look. Damn I really should have made a video on that

Very interesting exposé. I have been a photographer for over 40 years and I was weaned on analog cameras, including the Hassy. Nonetheless, I use pretty much all of the medium format cameras out there, and I find that the. Blad slow and cumbersome I love the output of the GFX cameras I own three of them and I particularly love the XT series cameras. I use them for the likes of VOGUE magazine, Harpers Bazaar, ELLE, GRAZIA,etc. in fact, I sold off all four bodies of my Nikon, full frame, system and lenses and now work exclusively with Fujifilm so my dream camera is not a slow and cumbersome Blad digital back which I used in fact for the Swarovski world Christmas ad campaign and it was so slow. in terms of ergonomics and aesthetics I know it’s all very subjective, but I much prefer the Fujifilm design philosophy. There’s my two cents worth. 🤓🙏🏻💝

So far I have resisted the move to mirrorless, not.a fan of the EVF as a portrait photographer, enthusiastic amateur. The new Hasselblad 907x 100, however, gives me a digital option for my 503 for an OVF solution, and I can use my H system glass via an adapter. A more cost effective solution to replacing my 5DSR with an R5.

I had a 500cm with a digital back... Sold it because it was completely impractical for work, and the camera I swapped to is infinitely better for what I shoot. Seeing the price of Hasselblads only a couple of years on makes me wish I held onto it for a little while longer, but it was time for it to go. I think when you shoot with a camera for work, the "wonderful shoot process" and all the marketing gumph that comes with those cameras becomes an expensive novelty quite quickly. That's why Leica's are call dentist's cameras. The only people that can afford to shoot one. ...having said all that, I sold my 500cm and bought a Leica q2... go figure.

Lots of people chose Fuji because color science, no matter pro or an amateur. Fuji has good color science and minimal tweaks/adjustments needed. And this is very attractive to the ones who a) don’t know how to work with color in post and have zero desire to learn b) don’t want to edit and get it straight out of the camera pretty much And there is nothing wrong with either. If having certain camera improves the workflow I’m all about it. Having Fuji will not turn someone to color wizard, but it will definitely help. I’m only talking from color science perspective. Btw I don’t own any Fuji, I mean if only an old 35mm Fujica counts 🤣

I think it is still the Instax division propping Fuji up however (and by a BIG margin), I wonder how well they'd actually be doing without that division... For me, I like the XH2S's, I need stacked sensor tech for my line of work. $3k is a lot for an ASP-C sensor but it actually is a pretty brilliant camera packed with a lot of bite.

Absolute nonsense, they’re killing it with their Apc cameras, particularly the X100v, they can’t make them fast enough and there’s a three month waiting list. They’re about to cash in and release an updated one that’s hardly updated and will cost more because they know from the second hand market that people are paying more than the new price for the X100V.

I enjoy the X-H2S and don't need a stacked sensor as I shoot purely for fun. What I enjoy is having a blazing fast camera that gives you the option of relatively inexpensive premium lenses, and optional tiny lenses that are still VERY good. Once you realize you don't have to spend 3k on a lens the 3k on the body is very reasonable.

Thank you for a provocative video. I am, however, going to provide what I consider to be a reality check. We are lucky to live in a golden age of digital photography. All brands are great. In response to your video, what facts do you have to support your claim that "Everyones Switching to Fuji Cameras"? There are no facts to prove this. Sales figures show the exact opposite. Fuji has been and still is a solid *FOURTH* in sales. This has not changed. Please don't take my comment the wrong way ... your channel is great and Fuji cameras are excellent. We just need to base statements on reality and not on our wishes.

The Fuji GFX, fully agree, it’s a great tool for the job, secondhand it’s a steal. It might not be the fastest but it’s I think it suis your work perfectly. The Fuji x100, not so sensible if you ask me. The price is pretty steep, even if you can find one at retail price and it’s not the “best” camera at that price point.i think a secondhand Leica would be cheaper than a secondhand x100v. A leica m4p with a voightlander is roughly the same cost if you can snatch a good deal, which is more likely than getting a good deal on the Fuji x100. Sure, film is pretty expensive so the leica isn’t really sensible either, but at least it feels like a m6 (it is part from the light meter). The X100v just tickles the brain, it looks nice and might get you the same feeling (to me it didn’t so I sold mine) and it’s digital. A more sensible choice would probably be a Fuji xe3/4 or any entry mirrorless at this point. Getting the same results for less money, but yeah, the itch..

Later we use a Nikon FM2 - much more usefull. How ever: My dream today is a Leica Q3. Cos its more usefull than a M6 today. And it gets this feeling...

If they ever produced a square digital back, I would have kept my 500cm (or my Bronica SQA's for that matter). Having a digital back that is always in landscape when one is using the waist level viewfinder becomes completely impractical when shooting in a portrait orientation. If only they would create a 56mm square sensor (anywhere between 24-60mp), now that would be amazing. Of course, it would be more expensive than the Merc and the petrol!

To be fair the x100 series was sold out in 2012 as well, I bought mine on eBay from Japan. I had to preorder the F. The hype is real but it’s not a new issue either. As a long time convert but recent GFX owner, they have a certain beauty to them. I could just stick to my Sony and be fine but Fuji does have something about it.

X100 series is a bit oddball. Yes, it definitely has the "old school film rangefinder look" (well, I had a X100S and T). But starting from F, it became more and more expensive. Perhaps a XE3 + 23 f/2 lens is more affordable. And the GFX is definitely a more affordable medium format kit.

I'm a hobbyist, and I've waisted a lot of money scratch the itch. This being said, I'v got an X-E3 with a 25mm TTartinsan lens, and a Canon P with a 50mm f/1.4 LTM lens. Almost traded them to get a X100F and a Leica M3/M4. But, I couldn't justify the insane amount of money those costed and cancelled. I realized I've already spent too much money on cameras, lenses, and gear for very little gain. So I went the sensible way and realized my Canon P is as good as a M3, and to my eye, more "atractive". I see a lot of hobbyist going after the youtube hype of the moment and always lusting gear when they have a perfectly usable, fantastic bit of kit already. I'm sharing this video with them now :-)

I had the Hasselblad 500c, really enjoyed it, it was me but couldn't get to like the 80mm lens. I had 2 Leica M6- one with the 0.85 viewfinder. Within the 28-90mm focal length range the Leica imho was the finest photographic picture making camera ever, the practice of 'placing' the viewfinder frame over the subject, once experienced never forgotten, Its 'heritage' bequeathed it with an annoying fiddly film loading system but thereafter magnifique.
