UNREAL DAY!! Creek Wading for FAT Smallmouth Bass

Went to a creek in the Cherokee National forest in east Tennessee in search of some smallmouth bass. I fished several places on the upper part of the creek and only caught a few. Decided to wade downstream close to the river and it was ON. Ended up catching a bunch of good size smallmouth on the hellgrammite.

Your videos are an inspiration to me here in Northern Va. They also make me incredibly jealous! Our filthy, brown, polluted fisheries are depleted and ultra educated. Even north west Va and upper mid west Va which are rural along the mountains. I have driven almost 2hr to find bronze backs this year and still have had little luck. Getting so frustrated, living vicariously through you and your awesome fishing adventures. Never forget how blessed you are in where you live! I basically live in hell, in the suburbs out side DC. Plenty of water, most often brown, polluted, super pressured, depleted of game fish, expensive boats basically required. It just sucks all around. It was so much better 30 years ago when I was a kid here, even then your area was much healthier but we still had fish back then before the cleaners moved in..... Keep up the good work for the rest of us! Your awesome!

Psh... Lews lost me. I have had two brand new spinning reels crap out on me in just the last year. The bail system fails on them and the bail won't stay open. It happened on one so I returned it, bought a more expensive one and it did the same thing in less than 6 months. I'm using Pfluger and Diawa right now. Might try some others.

The coloration on these Smallmouth were extraordinary! The gplds and bronzes were exceptionally well defined. The dark one you caught looked as if it were coming out of spawning dress. They, like Rock Bass tend to blacken on their bellies during spawning season. Nice day for you!

I would absolutely love to fish at the places you do, very beautiful creeks. Seems like there are so many options there to fish. Where I'm from we have nothing to offer but a Dark color River and a Reservoir which is very difficult to catch fish in. This was a great Video your an amazing Fisherman.

Here is Arkansas, the Hellgramite is a smallmouth favorite, too. I’ve also had great luck on black hair (marabou) jigs. I tie my own but they are pretty easy to find. Seem to get bit sometimes when nothing else will. Something to try sometime. Great videos and love the Scriptures.

If you ever get over to eastern Oklahoma, try Sallisaw Creek in Adair and Sequoyah counties or the upper Illinois River above Ten Killer lake. Both streams are excellent for multi species panfish and catfish.

Nice bass! I fly fish for trout nearly exclusively now but when I was young I did it all! Being a carpenter I often times still had my hammer hoop on my belt when stopping to fish after work and found it was great for putting your rod handle in to hold it while you unhook a big one or tie on lures! The metal type hoop is best, few bucks lasts years.

I've always heard the Elkhork Creek is one of the best Smallmouth waters in Kentucky. It starts with South Elkhorn Creek and flows west by north west, by Gerogetown and Frankfort, changing into the North Elkhorn Creek and finally Elkhorn Creek before it empties into the Kentucky River. I've been wanting to give it a try for years. You might want to check it out yourself.
