I have a question (edit: 3 questions) - I want to have a menu that have 5 squares inside that represent different menues and those to be selected randomly from lets say 100 different squares. So random 5 need to pop in the menu when I open it and when I select one to call new random 5 squares from the pool. Another thing I want is to have a text above the 5 squares and want to change it somehow everytime I choose a square. Another very important thing is that these 5 squares need to have a unique picture, not just simple plain color. This will be a whole game with random events where you select your actions and then random things will happen to you trough text and pictures, and some things will change and be stored in variables (rpg), please let me know also if there is a smarter way to do this because the game will not need any other things but the menu and some blueprints work.

Is this the best use for menu like ESC > Options > Video and so on ? Or it is better to use visibility on click in graph editor ?

If you're building a menu system like Bioshock Infinite using a gamepad, how would you switch focus to the sub menu when you're in it and return focus to the main menu when you're back in the main menu?

Can you do a second part that shows how to achieve this with thumbsticks and 4 or 8 way navigation? My game is gamepad centric. It was great to get how to do it with the keyboard, shoulder and face buttons, but can't figure out the thumbsticks. I'd really appreciate it.

How do you make a splash screen when you first start up your game, then go right into the game main menu where you can select different game options or different game modes to play?
Probably to late to ask... you can add animations to these, right? Between switching.

Hi, inside the WidgetSwitcher you dont have free movement for the Text box or Border? You need use the Pading?
@RyanLaley4 жыл бұрын
Yes because it is a single slot it has only relative positioning. Only a canvas panel provides absolut positioning. If you want absolute positioning in your switcher, put a canvas panel it in first

Great video, but i still don't have any idea how to implement a legit inventory. When i try to add my user created slots widget to the inventory widget it says "this widget can't have children". What am i missing?

Hey there Ryan! Thank you for providing us with this tutorial. It was really helpful. I have an issue thoguh, i enable focusable and change to visible, yet still my mouse disappears on the main menu i have created. Do you know anything about that? It really boggles my mind.

@@RyanLaley Right on. Keep up the good work. You haven't covered much in a while that I haven't figured out on own, but your work flow (especially the inventory system) really helped me establish a comfortable rhythm and I know anyone just starting with UE4 or coding in general will get a lot of use out of your vids. Honestly, you should teach professionally.
