Unreal Engine 5.1 - Setting Up Live link using VCAM

This video will help if you are getting an error connecting the Vcam app in Unreal Engine 5.1. I had some trouble with this initially and eventually figured it out. Follow the steps in sequence and it should work if not leave a comment.

As of iOS 16.4 and MacOS 13.3., none of the apps can connect. AFAIK they should ask for permission to access the LAN but they don't and there's no way to force them.

Hello! Mine isn’t working I am using unreal engine 5 early access. I get up to the point where you have to find it in the sources tab. I’ve tried My phone, iPad, friends phone and it won’t show up. My IP is correct too.

@@Greenrobotvp I did do unreal remote and that won’t show up. I don’t know if this is how it goes but on the app it says “Connecting to ######” forever loading. Plus it won’t show up under the sources

Can you test one thing I’m having a problem with. When I create my virtual camera and do my shot I connect an Xbox controller to control the player but my controller won’t send inputs anymore. Only happens after I create a virtual camera.

@@Greenrobotvp I figured out the issue the virtual camera plugin destroys the connection when i turn off the plugin it works again submitted the bug report.

I can not find a single tutorial that talks about how to interact with your game during the realtime virtual camera (i.e: opening a door). I feel like it has something to do with clicking "simulate the game" but when you do that it takes away the LiveLink UI, which is a huge disappointment. I've seen it done in videos but no one talks about how to do it. Do you know how I can achieve this?

@@Greenrobotvp yeah that’s smart I was thinking the same thing. The only reason I haven’t tried it though was just because I realized my UI disappears when I click simulate, which I use the UI to move around my camera. I suppose I could add moving functionality to the controller too, I’ve done that with a spectator cam before and it’d probably be the same thing. That would make sense, thanks for the feedback!

Doesnt work for me, tried following your tutorial and several others for many attempts and it just doesnt work. Every time I see a video on this I think I will give it another go and get the same results. Just doesnt work. Ive tried on Iphone 12 pro and iPad Pro. The workflow using two apps is just no good. One thing that you jumped over in your video is how to switch from connecting Unremote app to Livelinkvcam. You should perhaps show how this is done on the ipad or iphone. Hopefully the folks at Epic screw the nut and come up with something a bit better.
