Noise threshold just put it to some higher value like .1 then turn on denoiser. This could even be faster than any path tracing engine out there

cycles isnt actually that slow once you know how to tweak the engine settings and i assume its the same for ue path tracing
@xanzuls10 ай бұрын
Cycles is way faster than most path tracers and lumen does take much longer than realtime if you have anti aliasing turned on.

Well, just read the comment below 👇...

@radsgd The difference is Cycles was designed as a to be best by hard rendering frames, Unreal Engine was designed to run in real-time. This new path-tracing feature sounds very experimental and is probably using a lot of noise filtering, but I still think the biggest benefit is a significantly less rendering time. The disadvantage - you have to import all of your assets into UE, set up materials, particle systems, lighting, and Post-processing, and you don't have to freedom of procedural modifiers galore that can be told to render from the workspace. Blender has some amazing plugins that can be set up and rendered as-is.

Cycles looks better, but a) it STRONGLY depends on the settings used in both cases b) generally in UE I prefer using lumen w/ hardware rtx support, its faster and the results are awesome. Btw path tracing takes a lot to render in both engines

a feature that was built into a real-time rendering engine... I wish you hadn't told me that... I will keep using Unity HDRP and render phenomenal stuff is a fraction of the time. Unity is cheaper than UE (for now), and fall back on Cycles for the seriously high-caliber stuff...

Overall I prefer cycles. On the trucks, blender has nicer glass but ue5 has more reflection on chrome. On the racing car UE is way too dark and blender produces more lustre on the chrome wheels. On the Cars UE5 seems to render something weird on the background Porsche fog lights.

Blender definitely looks better, but why would you use unreal if you sre not going to use the real time capabilities?
@VejtasaArt8 ай бұрын
I prefer to use the unreal engine because I find it has a simpler workflow when creating scenes (Blender is easier when creating anything more complex) and I use Lumen for previewing but Pathtrace just looks better when rendering.
@aurelienmartineau3D7 ай бұрын
Simpler workflow? In blender you open the software and boom you start to create. In unreal you fist create an empty project that weight 30go or more and you setup a lot of thing and you create your assets in a DCC software and you import and…. Yes simpler indeed ;)
@VejtasaArt7 ай бұрын
It's literally easier to create scenes because you just open a project and start compositing assets, it's easier to work with light and you can see the whole scene in realtime from the start. It's also better optimized, because when I use complex assets in Blender, it's slow and impossible to work with and takes much longer to render than in UE. Anyway for each asset you need several software from zbrush or speedtree, blender etc then you need to make textures in Q Mixer or Substance and then you don't care if you put it in blender or UE anyway. As for the UE file it's also better because the whole project is saved in one folder where the whole project is which makes it easier to manipulate and send the file. If you have learned the whole process it's much easier. I think it's not the software but you. ;) @@aurelienmartineau3D

UE is great for games and landscapes. That's all. If you do animation, product visualisation, architecture UE is waste of time.
@VejtasaArt8 ай бұрын
I don't agree with that, realtime architecture visualization is becoming popular nowadays, because I'm working on such a project myself in one company. It's true that product animations are probably easier in other software, but architecture is definitely in demand in UE. Well, in general I see that Unreal engine is more and more desirable skill nowadays so I would say it's definitely not a waste of time on the contrary it's quite profitable.
