Unreal Engine September 2023 Free Assets

It's the first Tuesday of the month and Unreal Engine developers know what that means... free stuff! It's another Unreal Engine Marketplace giveaway, this time for September 2023. This month we have 5 "free for the month" assets, with no additions to the permanently free collection. These assets are yours to keep forever, so long as you "buy" them (for free) before the first Tuesday of September.

Hello, I'm the creator of the melee system. Sorry but I think you got the wrong one, it is my "Basic Multiplayer Melee Combat System" that was included in this month free asset rotation, not the one you showed. The link in your website also points to the wrong one.

@gamefromscratch yeah don't worry, I don't know what happened exacly but it seems that it was an mistake of the marketplace team itself, even the official blog post is showing images and referencing the wrong system. (Edit: it seems that they fixed it)

Quest Editor looks so much like a bad CS version of Narrative 3, I do wonder if they stole its code considering you get full access to the source but if not, its great to have a free-ish option

Unfortunately, hoarding is not going to be endless. If I remember correctly, you cannot have more than a 1000 items (assets, plugins etc.) in your library so, once you reach that number, you will not be able to add more and, which is honestly surprising, you cannot delete useless/old items from your library either, so you cannot make more room for new ones. Not to mention that having so many items in your library without being able to group them however you want, without being able to create custom folders or filters... man, you will lose a lot of time looking for that one particular plugin or asset if you dont remember its name.

I supose a pathwork solution, is that you could save the assets you like to use in another application like notion and find them that way

I think there are many workarounds but the underlying problem is still the same - the client design is not user friendly @@Simlo

So what's the point of assets if you will be criticized when you use them?

You are supposed to use these assets in a way that complements your own, original work and not make them your main focus. Modifying them is also a good idea so they don't look out of place. I believe that prettymuch all AAA games use stock assets in one way or another but you just couldn't tell because the devs made them fit so nicely.
