Two things: 1) Always remind yourself to be ready for the ball bouncing back. Just tell yourself "This ball is coming back so i'm going to be ready to swing with my 5 bar". 2) Position the guys on your 5 bar on the holes that are open because most likely your partner will shoot at those open holes. If the opponent moves and blocks them, then that's likely where the ball will bounce back and by the time you react with your 5 bar, hopefully you will be able to hit the ball.

Good information Zeke! I'd love to see more advanced 5-bar defense, for example, how to defense all kinds of passes, brush, stick, tic-tac, chip, etc. I believe understand the options of each pass and your opponent is very important too, can you share some info about how to understand your opponent faster? and quickly find the strategy. Thanks!

When somebody is doing that, i typically slow down, stop the ball, and make sure they aren't resetting the ball. If they aren't resetting, then I'm patient moving the ball back and forth setting up for my pass, then i'll throw a fake wall pass by letting the ball just hit the wall and bounce back. That will give you an idea if they are just trying to race the wall. If they don't react to the wall, then i'll do a "hesitation' wall pass, or another wall pass variation.

Hey Zeke, thanks so much for making these vids! You really have a talent for teaching... for example I learned the snake shot solely based on your tutorials (my friends always think I'm joking, when I tell them I learned it from youtube, but nope, 'tis true :) - it's nowhere as good as yours, but I'm getting there ;). Thanks and keep up the great work! Best of luck in your future matches

Patience my friend. Still recovering from the long weekend playing foos. I'll post the videos maybe tonight or tomorrow. I can't do a tutorial right now because I have lots of family visiting this week, so I'll do that next week.

Tony Spredaman always passes 5 bar. He is so fast.

Funny thing is that I trimmed this down from 23 min down to about 17min. It's tough for this type of tutorial because there is so much content. This is the reason why i'm making a "general concepts" tutorial and will have additional ones to cover other specific topics. In general i do like to keep the videos within 5 mins.

Hi Zeke, thanx for your videos! I also play competitive foos but in Belgium, I sometimes have troubles with passing from my 5 to my 3 if the defense just shakes really fast (not necessarily at a varying tempo). Do you have any tips for choosing the right timing in these situations for your shot (normally I shoot wall in these situations because the ball spends less time "travelling through the defence")

hey zeke, do you change your method for beginners/weak passers? I feel like I've been doing better against tour players vs weaker 5 bars. also, any more tips on grabbing and controlling the ball with the 5 would be appreciated. I have a very hard time with loose cross court balls and heavy angled catches.

+1lastrun Against weaker opponents you can try racing holes. Also i think beginners tend to fall into passing patters more often since they don't know how to read open holes. The most common patterns is to alternate between wall and lane. So it's easier to anticipate where they will pass. If you block a wall pass, most likely the next pass will be a lane and so on. Given that a beginner should not be very fast it's easier to bait and race their passes. Also beginners have tells on their passes, like a wall pass will likely be performed closer to the wall, and the lane will be further from the wall. Pros work on making their wall and lane pass look the same, but beginners by definition don't have that concept. You try to figure out their tells and then you'll be able to block them easily.

+Unreal Foos thanks zeke. So much thought involved in this game. I should clarify that the tournament players are killing me but I feel the odds are only slightly reduced with the beginners. thanks for the advice.
