It's pretty clear they simply want their foot in the door. They will then let the PGA Tour look like they are running the show for a couple of years before fully taking over the running of the professional game. The Augusta and R&A memberships are the giveaway here as to their real goals - put themselves into positions of power. It's certainly not just to play a few rounds at St. Andrews or Augusta.

If you guys would have watched the Jimmy Dunne interview from a couple of months ago none of this would have surprised you. The reason for the Tour's preemptive strike was to keep the PIF from taking over golf, just as they have done with soccer. All you had to know was that Greg Norman was involved with this. Even while trying to win majors in the 80's and 90's he was trying to find ways to destroy the PGA Tour. The only surprise here is just how completely ignorant Rich and his sources actually are, and if you had been paying attention to Jimmy Dunne not even that would have been a surprise.

Reality is... LIV was paying their golfers... The PGA tried to match and found out that they couldn't... So they sold out. FYI... I don't see the difference between Tiger taking money from NIKE or from some self righteous prince that doesn't care about human rights because to me... They both don't care about the same stuff and all those golfers that took the NIKE money are just as guilty. And another thing.... LIV is way better than PGA in their format... All they need is the top 52 golfers in the world to pay and they will have the best tournaments other than the Majors. Plus the PGA will have all their stars back because any of them that want to play will play... The banning golfers because of 10 events a year was insane.

Rich I can't go to the LIV event in Chicago in September now because I'm too late to buy a ticket. General admissions are sold out completely, and the next available tickets are upgraded tickets selling for $750 starting. That is a lot of money for a ticket which is a complete result of supply and demand. Each day of the tournament (most courses) they have 14,000 people there, and that's a very healthy attendance for a weekend event. They also sell a TON of merchandise to people at the events. And, their TV isn't helping or hurting them. They are making money.

I watched the entire thing and I did not hear any laptop mentioned let alone Hunter’s. The Greg Norman side deal was not executed. However, they did say that under the new structure there would be no need for an executive position such as what Greg currently holds. So in other words they don’t have to write him out, he just won’t be needed. They agreed to drop the lawsuits and sit down and try to create a deal.
