Jess the white belt was taught by an unknown instructor in a garage in the middle of Wyoming. Now he’s throwing black belts and brown belts. This style of Judo is called Dangerous Waters. If you want to learn how to do judo throws like this, subscribe to my martial arts page Dangerous Waters MMA and I’ll show you what I’ve been taught. • Dangerous Waters Judo ...

the main thing is, he just goes for it, other people might try a throw and halfway think "this is not going totally right" and stop. he just goes for it, full commitment is necisarry for these throws

For all those that don’t know. This is 50% Randori. The blue belt is allowing him to set in some throws and very mildly attacking. The white belt is doing a great job and is truly working to become a great judoka. I would like to see a full strength Randori video posted. How has training been going? Keep up the good work.

Training is going great, my sensei’s tell me that my mma coach taught me very well. That’s a green belt by the way, and I had four years of training at an mma gym that didn’t give out belts at this point. I do not believe that the green belt was allowing me to get throws; the white belt is an illusion.

The white belt is very good. But, be mindful that higher grades are supposed to take it easy on lower gradings to develop their technique and by the looks of it the white belt will go well in competition.

I train from ages 9 to 17 back in the 70s in Los Angeles Gardena California specifically my Dojo was about 80 members there were two white guys and one black guy I was one of the white dudes the rest were Japanese those sensei's and trainers just slaughtered us watching this clip making me think back about if we had more of a technique of teaching such as this I probably wouldn't have quit at 18 ended up going to karate in boxing stuff like that although they said I was very talented and I took second place in the Junior Olympics in Rosecrans California I didn't realize it at the time but I guess it's racism truly existed at that time in that location for whatever reasons I was trying to put myself maybe into his situation there I do recall that if you attempted a technique or throw that wasn't perfect or at least extremely heartfelt you were instantly countered hard oh well memories

Slow, laid back randori like this is acceptable in three situations. One, it's the end of a three day training camp. Two, it's a cool down after a hard practice. Three, one or both judoka have minor injuries and have been told to go 50% resistance to avoid making it worse. I'm 50 in a few months and my randori is crisper and more energetic than this (assuming I remember to take my anti-inflammatories, getting old sucks).

It can be good to be humble and "start over" when seeking training partners. I have been doing Taiji now for over 20yrs but I am looking forward to starting as a bjj white belt to have practice partners again. I have worked with several amature MMA guys and I have honestly never been taken down no matter how hard they went. I have only experienced BJJ personally when I allowed it to be shown on me for education/demonstration. I honestly want to learn BJJ and have no intent nor fantasy of besting senior students but from experience I hopefully challenge their approach at takedowns on open mat night while advancing my ability to read more complex tactics.

Jess the white belt needs to learn how to do the throws properly before you (sorry, I mean "Jess the whitebelt") "show [people] what [you've] been taught". You did some okay attempts at basic throws at a very beginner level against a *partner* (not opponent) who was co-operating in the correct spirit of randori (free practice). Perhaps Jess the whitebelt should respect his "unknown" instructor more and just train.
