A track that was and STILL is far ahead of its time.

wouldn't say so. Almost every late 90s game had a similar style, and 80-90 were a golden age of electronic music. Nowadays, try to imagine overwatch or smth with music like this... it is definetely the music of its time

I still prefer the old Unreal Tournament versus any modern incarnations of it. They totally lost the whole sense of Unreal's uniqueness and especially the atmosphere.

Good on you for doing an extended version. UT ROOOOOCKS! (this was some of the best game music from one of the best FPSs ever made).(this game got me hooked on gaming, and this track probably had a lot to do with it... the song almost describes the experience of this level, it's like it has unwritten lyrics about the euphoria of intense gladiatorial corporate sponsored combat on low G with future weapons, in a dystopian timeline, and having the bot difficulty set to auto adjust, during your warm-up round. and knowing that when you check it at the end of the level it has adjusted up to godlike,((without even running the cheap "rocket-redeemer circuit", but sticking to the "lowlands": dual pistols, flak cannon and murder frizbee ftw!) and you're ready for PVP). The lyrics are really just what your avatar says after each kill, when set to Auto-taunt: "Life is Pain! Get Over it!", and "You fight like the Nali!" ((from a later version of the game but still gold))(this game was classic, and pioneering in so many ways.... telefrags mannnn fuckin telefrags.....pure genius)

Yup, I fell in love with UT from the demo, and played Morpheus for 999999 hours, even once I got the full version of the game, it was still my go-to map for fraggage.@@randomguydoes2901

I think this one in paritcular describes arena players from late 90s and early 00s - nobody cared about shitty microtransaction/pay4win stuff every corner - everyone involved wanted to be the very best by the pure skill, money would give you nothing back then

Playing this map I always wondered who lived/worked on these last floors, the time it took an elevator to reach these floors and what ship would be able to land there in the helipad? I also remember this was one of the maps on the UT99 demo. Good simple times back there

Morpheus, Phobos, Turbine and Facing Worlds are the most iconic maps of the game. No game of today can even remotely match the atmosphere of UT99.

people tend to forget that ID software was the one to popularise the shooters as a whole with wolfenstien 3d, doom, and quake, i never played those old school games until recently, i had a chance to meet John Romero too and i even played 1v1 on doom 2 against him so uh yeah, but no doubt he has fallen off sadly too far down since daikatana's release and blackroom has never been realised, while he's making new UE5 shooter as of now with his new team romero games. also no dobut that UT and epic were their competition just like Valve were with their team fortress and cs and halflife to ID and vice versa, i do feel pissed that Epic have removed all traces of UT games on steam and didnt re release them on their launcher and are now focusing on Fortnite money, well i dont wanna hate epic but that made me pissed and full of miserable hate towards the company and tim epic fortnite guy as i REALLY wanna play UT games
