just saying, opening documentation while tutorials/guides is actually a helpful thing! I like it and I'm also used to it and I believe it to be perfect practice ;) Because we will run into trouble and to see where we could look for help or find more info is always very nice! :) Thanks a lot to all you unreal engine guys, just started again with it due to your licenses model changes and it's just a huge and awesome engine!! and what you showed in your UE5 previews is ridiculous, I'd have expected something like that in ten years or more, not right now! Keep it up, you're doing it!!! Love companies like yours truly

Keep up the good work Zak! You are still the best tutorial guy in the industry! I'm really looking forward to gaining a better understanding of cascade. So much potential for powerful effects P.S. I especially enjoyed the rainbow, jumping jack Samaritan effect. I got a good laugh from it

Gotta say, I find Zak's explanation's a lot nicer to sit and listen to as they're very simple but accurate and don't feel rushed or boring either. Great job! (The other tutorials are also great but I just personally find Zak's a lot more comfortable to listen to xD).

I still love playing Unreal Tournamentand UT 2004. With this cutting-edge engine, I'm looking forward to creating games that rock the gaming world... games that are epic, you might say. ;) it's all made possible by the insanely low subscription fee and with the obvious hard work that went into making this engine, I think 5% royalty is a small price to ask and I have no problem with it whatsoever. To me, it feels like Triple-F Studios (us) and Epic (them) are a team.

I can't find why P_cloud particle system from examples are attached to origin. If I Attach particle system to actor, particles move relatively to actor when he moves. Other particle systems work fine and accelerates/moves independently from actor as they emitted.

Using something like that green spray but focusing it in one main direction and having it spray in a direction away from a mesh(in a effect that would diminish over a short time, or until the heart that pumps the blood out stops) that has been in a strong contact with another mesh (skin) and having it possibly create a splash effect onto another texture permanently changing the texture until a complete reset of the game level save or another save would create a cool permanent blood texture that could appear. An Idea that I have that could be used for game (level/map) programming if possible (I'm not a programmer but I do understand this would be very difficult) would to have the positions and amount of contact (making a effect larger) in a spot radiate slightly outward and be remembered/rendered by the game not on top of a map but as a part of a map so that if you were to ever go to that part of a map again in that save within a realistic amount of time for the material in that location it would still be there. There could also be a decay/erosion effect to make that material look slightly different or start to decay faster if there was too many locations marked. There would of course be a limit to the amount of thing remembered so there would be a time limit to which how long a group of spawned effects in a area could be remembered.(To lower the amount of data that has to be remembered you could assign a whole group within a radius or time of creation only 1 set time limit/rate of decay that could be sped up based on the recent amount of similar (not permanent) information being stored since there would be a only a decent but likely(if possible) small allotted data cache )

@Annatar03 жыл бұрын
How does GPU particles detect different surface type/properties like water, lava, oil, grass, ice etc.?. I'd imagine the collision is taken care of by the depth buffer. Or does GPU particles only change the transform of the particle and the rest is done by the CPU?.
@Roozy_Persepolis9 жыл бұрын
I have a small question, quite silly perhaps. With particle effects, can you make a group of flies hovering around a light source? Lets say you have a light bulb, an there are flies flying around it, can you do that with particles? if not, how else would someone approach it? Cheers
@bobmarly20049 жыл бұрын
+mrroozbehm1985 Absolutely! All you need to do is replace the standard particles with a fly. If you want to make it look even better, you can make the flies have sprite sheets, where their wings will flap. As far as getting the look of a group of flies, you would use a lot of random values for position, speed, etc. Just play around with it.

Hi! I am new to Unreal Engine. I have created a smoke particle system for my project. I want the particles of the smoke to only flow/move inside an assigned mesh also which should be invisible. That means you are ready! Once its fully launched watch the tutorial step by step. It gets easier along the way.
