one of my favourite unreleased Vocaloids at the moment (apart from Ring Suzune) is the version of Big Al that was voiced by Michael King (yes, the Elvis impersonator). i find him and his voicebank to be incredibly interesting. his voice was very impressive for the time, especially for a Vocaloid 2 voicebank. his voice was incredibly clear and sharp and had a lot of detail, and he was quite versatile!! i feel like his demos don't really do this justice, but in the PowerFX slow rap demo, you can hear a bit of Big Al's vibrato singing voice and i think it sounds fantastic. Michael King's Big Al was also incredibly unique. like i literally cannot think of any other Vocaloid that sounds like him or does what he does. no other Vocaloid has that gruff low sound like he does, not even the version of Big Al that did end up getting released sounds anything like him. also i think this iteration of Big Al has such an awesome design, he's got this cool Elvis Frankenstein's monster thing going on and it's got the same painterly style as Sweet Ann's box art, which i've always enjoyed for how unique it is. unfortunately, this iteration of Big Al would never get released, as PowerFX was unsatisfied with Michael King's recordings and wanted him to record some new ones, but he was on tour at the time, so Big Al's voice provider was replaced. it's a shame, really. Big Al had so much potential to be truly unique like his counterpart, but he was deemed a disappointment by his creators, stripped of his original design before he even got released and had everything that was special about him almost completely scrapped. i'm really sad this version of Al never got to see the light of day and i actually prefer him over the Big Al that did get released. Michael King's Big Al really feels like a proper counterpart to Sweet Ann, while Frank S.'s Al feels completely disconnected from her. i miss him every day

I'm sad about Ring and Lui, they looked adorable and I really wanted to mess around with their voicebanks but... oh well... Also, while I appreciate the idea of vocaloids being used to recreate and rebirth deceased singers' voices on a fan level, as an artist I can tell you how incredibly terrifying the concept is. Our voices are already starting to be stolen and reused by AI programs and the like. IF (and that's a big if) there were a good middle ground to strike, it would put into place a very, very limited scope reward contract for the purposes of archival voice software. I would kind of refuse any other terms, myself.

With the strict no-commercialization of said data as a rule. Private is good... but I guess the idea of it still being a company's still bugs me a little?

@@WarriorKalia i meant more for those to stay private because of the fact it's based on a real person and their image. if they say made a Micheal Jackson one. it would be strange if everyone could just use Micheal's voice without a second thought. and maybe without the consent of his family. Miku is a fictional character.. tho her voice provider is not. but she's being paid to lend her voice for the samples. she consented to have her voice be used for this purpose. a deceased person of course doesn't have the say in this fact. thus should remain for private use only. or heavily restricted. your museum example only works if they got someone to do the voice samples. and they wanted to be in that database.

Yuecheng and Chuchu were half-private just since their release. You needed to make one original song or two covers a year to get permission to use them. This scheme simply didn't work, and as a result, their company went bankrupt. However, Chuchu got leaked, but I never told you anything~~

Yamaha didn't really try that with Gumi because Internet Co. tried to do their best to make Gumi a non-Miku clone with her own extensive and overall personality in her voice to rival Miku, unlike some like Stardust, Zhanyin Lorra, etc. but that does not mean these Vocaloids are not good individual singers (except Zhanyin Lorra because she's canceled). Gumi actually didn't have many marketing dollars behind her in the beginning, but by 201`, she outclassed Miku in terms of song volume, surpassing 1,000 songs on NicoNico in a faster time than Miku. Actually, Ring Suzune's design was by a contest winner named Muraichi, so it wasn't technically in the plan to make her look like Miku. But it is sad that Vocanext vanished. Personally, the concept of Miku clones is a bit over-zealous in my point of view. That's because you'd have to include IA, Gumi, SeeU, Stardust, Yuzuki Yukari, Lumi, etc, and in all honesty, looking at all of the "Miku Clones" it just means popularity, rather than by sound, design, or other things- although making a lot of the Vocaloids 16 is a bit weird when their voice providers are well over that, meaning they are indeed taking Miku's age to increase popularity among the youth because it just works. So you could definitely say that Miku is just too popular to the point that anything that even seeks to rival her is a clone because she influenced the market so much that people just expect another version of Miku over and over and over again because that's what sells. I will also say that is just one of many viewpoints on this matter, and if something was really ripping off Miku, I'm sure there would be a lot of backlashes, but I'm also sure that it would sell like hotcakes too. But after a while... people get tired of it and want something different, which is another reason why Vocaloid is becoming more barren in the development point. I hope this answered something you had because I have NO IDEA on concept designs for Vocaloids we have... might be something I need to look up though. You have teached me so much with your video's and make me so happy when I'm sad and I just wanted to thank you for that and on the Gumi thing I was not really referring to Gumi the vocaloid herself but a rythem game called Megipod The Music(Sorry I can't spell Gumi's first name...) it sadly has not been remembered as much as something like Project Diva cuz it seem to have to be overshadowed by other rythem games...I wish we could of got it fof the west tho...what happened to it kinda reminds me of a game style savvy witch is a very fun fashion game,but sadly seems to not be as popular as other franchise witch makes me a little sad cuz i think we might not get another game...but yeah i think if they would of made the game for Ring it might have flopped because he seem to have not been as popular as his counterpart(Sister maybe? Not about unreleased VOCALOIDS, but people NEED to STOP saying that MEIKA Hime and Mikoto are “canonically Non Binary”. Having a character who’s gender is unconfirmed is NOT the same as having an NB character. You can see them as NB that’s fine. I see them as girls tho, since their voices are obviously feminine and the drawings of them are too, though I give them they/them pronouns.

Now... this may be a little spammy and I don't want to encroach onto your channel, but I personally do have a video about Cancelled Vocaloids, about 7, and the only one from my list that you talked about was Lui and Ring. Others such as LUAN, with a demo, and LUCIA, Zhanyin Lorra, Big AL First & Second Development, and CV-04 are all ones that I personally could find that were not restricted (Vocaloids that were made, but just unable to be used by the public). I just bring this up because there is a lot of info on each canned Vocaloid that could be good if you wanted to make another video for your audience since you are bigger and I feel everyone needs to know about stillborn Vocaloids as to look into important facts about both the companies ideals & goals, YAMAHA's contingencies for financial restraints, and of course, the community opinion, which is what ultimately killed off LUAN & Lucia after the creator did a big NO-NO and attacked their tastes. Just being fair to myself, if it is NOT OK to place the link here, then just delete this comment, as I won't get offended. I know how I feel when people comment links to their videos. Those are series intended for a younger audience and although I am not intended for kids, the AI for KZbin could mistake me as a channel for children due to my voice and the subject matter I'm talking about. You have to sing everything for 3-5 seconds in the same tone as every recording. That's the way it is for CV anyway! I do know from my personal experience as a KZbinr who uploads, LGBT topics is often something KZbin tries to censors so I'm guessing that KZbin themselves deleted the comment? Something like this happened before when some people I knew at the time were testing the algorithm of comments on KZbin. I looked in my spam and "comments under review" sections and I didn't see your comment anywhere so I legit have no idea what the hell happened :/ Either way, I didn't see any problem with bringing to attention that Mikoto and Hime are genderless.
