She discovers many of them were allegedly enticed to Mexico with the promise of jobs, but were actually forced to work in the sex industry.

One criticism I have of this documentary is the way the journalist asks when the victim when she first had sex with a client. That’s not sex, that’s rape. The victim says herself that she was forced. Human trafficking and forced prostitution is a frightening thing for these victims and their families. I wish there was something more that could be done to save these women.

My mom is Honduran and the last time she went home(about 5years ago) my mother, her sister and her sisters step daughter were kidnapped by a taxi driver. The driver ended up having some sort of either mental break or medical emergency and crashed into a truck. No one would help them out of the car. So they were left to break windows and drag themselves out. They could have been included in the list of missing women ... its so sad and scary. Honduras is beautiful and its a tragedy that the economy and the government are broken. 💔

Human trafficking has been around since forever but yet we are still surprised it occurs. Yes, even in the US. I saw a doc not too long ago about teen girls as young as 12, 13 being prostituted in NYC. My heart goes out to the victims and loved ones. No one deserves to go through this nightmare.

My close relative was there on his best friend's request to manage a clothing company located in a remote jungle area. It took no more than 8 months to drop his deal and come back home regardless of his high salary. He said, Honduras was a real getting kidnapped or getting killed zone, mainly targeting foreigners. He told me, If you get killed in Honduras jungle, your trace of existence will be far gone.

I read, that since it is now illegal in sweden to be a prostitute's client, the human trafficking declined a lot, because now there is no money to make. I wish it would be illegal in my country too...But I'm from germany and here they idealize prostitution and ignore the problems which come with it. In my town (which is not a poor town, not at a border and in bavaria) they saved a lot of east european women/girls from several brothels, about 10 of them where underaged, like 15 years. The human traffickers told these girls the same and it wasn't a isolated case, this happens a lot in germany. It shouldn't be allowed to buy another humans body for sex. Prostitutes client's should face legal consequences. A lot of people in the comments say that the corrupt police and officials should be sentenced too, but there are a lot of men buying these victims of human trafficking and knowingly rape them.

Not all prostitutes are trafficked. What is with those who do it voluntarily? This is a very difficult topic. Who says, that by prohibiting prostitution one will not make things even worse? It is highly unlikely, that you can eradicate such things completely. It is called the oldest profession for a reason. There is a possibility, that prohibition of prostitution will cause more rape. It would make more sense to ensure that all prostitution is voluntary. Easier said than done, I suppose. Besides, if we apply the same logic, organ transplantation should also be prohibited, because there are cases of people trafficked and murdered for their organs. Some problems have no easy solutions, unfortunately.

The same thing happens in the West. There are just as many women and children getting trafficked, and the governments don't care. And if someone wants to speak up about it, they get threatened into keeping quiet. So nobody talks about it, and people don't care because people only care about themselves. There's a big difference tho. The difference is that reservations are NOT run by the US government and US authorities have NO jurisdiction there. There's NOTHING the US government can do especially since reservations have to ask the US to help and 99% of the time they refuse to ask for help. They could easily solve so many of these cases if they would ask for help from the US but they won't. So it isn't 'racsim' that is keeping these people from being found. The people in Guatemala are the victims of an evil corrupt and incompetent government who doesn't care when the people go missing. Same with Mexico. There's no one the governments could ask for help from because they're so incompetent.

@Sadie Maher This is probably obvious to say, but maybe instead of just a knife maybe you should also look into alternative options like pepper spray, a taser, and maybe taking self defense classes. A really good self defense that is recommended is lessons in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

So... in the beginning of this video, when the moms were asked to bring out the photos of their missing children, anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the faces I saw appeared to be male. the saddest thing is poor countries including developing countries as well where women and men suppose to go to other places, countries to earn money for their families in order to find a better life.
