Excellent video. Brings out the impact of the rain and wet road. Gearing and gear (rain jacket!) tips noted. You climbed with high, consistent cadence and looked a lot smoother than those around you. Well done.

Agreed Jett, I was shocked at the attendance at the Majorca 312 back in ‘22 - and assumed that was the max for any cycling event … but appear not!!

@@jett_royce at lower altitude was 264W for 60mins (c4.1W/kg) - but living at 1300m and riding to 2250m reduced that to about 240W based on my climb of the Mortirolo prior to this event . I managed 233W up the Giau

Today on geology without mercy, the composition of the Sellaronda. Fun fact, the name dolomites originates from the chemical composition of the rocks in the region, which are coincidentally made of dolomite, a compound of magnesium and calcium carbonate.

Was my second Maratona this year on the trot. Had a mechanical at the bottom of Gardena and so missed the cut off for the Giau. Awful weather for the most part and will give next year a miss. Great weekend in beautiful surroundings and will be back.

Apologies for being behind the times with this upload. Stunning location, but these huge sportives are not for me. i would want to enjoy the mountains much quieter than 8000 riders.

Cheers Greg - and thanks for watching 🙏. I enjoy the gran fondos and sportives - even with a lot of riders. But agreed, 8000 is too many …. I think a large event like this would be 4000-5000 max . And to your point it was beautiful and not too busy when I visited in early Sept 2023 with the Haute Route Dolomites (c120 riders)
