I really love how you experiment, and see alternatives to pens, fountain pens, etc. You are a great asset to our little hobby.

Jinhao 80 is a wonderful pen that accepts Lamy nibs. They write super well even with their own factory nibs... Regards.

Thanks for this info. I managed to damage my Lamy Safari feed by shoving it in the wrong way. I will purchase some Wing Sungs and try the feeds.

Instead of silicone grease, use beeswax for sealing. You melt it and apply it to the area, in this case on the inside of the section, just on the lip. You will need a minimal amount, about a teaspoon. It's a permanent solution. It doesn't wash off, which silicone grease does. Using beeswax, I have successfully repaired the cracked inner section of a Kaweco Perkeo. I also fixed the feed of a 1983 Lamy Safari. It had some play in it and, although it could have worked like that, I preferred to keep it firmly in place.

No weird interactions with the ink?
@MiguelGonzalez3657 күн бұрын
@@unsharpen Beeswax has no effect on the ink. But it is also durable, you can clean the pen without affecting the wax. I learned this from a friend who uses it not only to restore old pens, but also to ensure sealing in car engines. For the crack in the inner section of the Kaweco Perkeo I had used everything, glue, silicone grease, etc. Beeswax was a truly effective solution. There is also another advantage to consider, it is reversible, it is easily removed, unlike epoxies or superglues. its only drawback is that the application is somewhat complicated. It takes a short time from the time the wax melts until it solidifies again, you have to be quick and concentrated. For a more professional application a heat gun can be used. The wax will be distributed more evenly.

Wing Sung isn't a company, it's just a brand name licensed by Hero for other companies to use. E.g. the company which makes the excellent 601 is different from the company that makes the 3010.

Interesting. I have no idea on the details or corporate structure. I’d imagine there are a small amount of manufacturers making things for many brands.

Not perfectly but yes they do. This’ll be another overly deep, too long video
