In regards to "needing to be driven", I must add that an Italian Tune-Up is almost a must. I had a 4cyl car that started out as an automatic. The AT went bad as I knew it would, so I converted it to manual. Looking into the engine a bit later, I found that the pistons were caked with carbon from not revving more than maybe 3000rpm regularly. After raising the compression (head swap) I started using premium fuel and revving it to it's redline, and looked into the pistons again and they were clean. The only issue that could happen is that the rings hit their 3000rpm lip on the cylinder wall, but that didn't seem to be a problem if that even happened. It amazed me how that worked out.

The sun baking a car month after month is hard on everything. The paint on the outside and the plastic on the inside. The old gasoline turns to varnish and clogs up everything from the gas tank to the combustion chamber. Buy that truck that is brand new but is two or more years old? You better figure on getting many many things replaced because of old gasoline just sitting in the tank.

That new car to you is year old to banks and other buyers vs 2024 models. Better deal is to look at pre-owned, newer vehicles, so you don’t absorb the massive new vehicle depreciation.

Tires on a two-year-old new car in hot a hot climate may not be worth the weight of the synthetic rubber they are made of. Because glues inside the tire can deteriorate, I would demand a full set of new tires on one of these vehicles as part of the purchase deal. 1 quart of deisel fuel is just as effective as SeaFoam, and it is $1 a quart. If a car is setting a "cat below efficiency threshold" code, then it needs a can of Lucas fuel injector cleaner, or a can of chevron techron fuel system cleaner, or a bottle of "stp complete fuel system cleaner" from Walnuts, and it needs to be driven, and put branded gas in it for a month or so. I work in the fuel industry, I am not trying to mislead. I have used this advice on my personal stuff. Seafoam is a petroleum product.....just like deisel or kerosene. Many of these products up the temp in the cat, and the rise in converter temp burns off the crap the accumulates when a car is not driven much. The same thing can happen when you buy the cheapest gas in town. This gas is 20 cents cheaper than the branded stations, and it has very little detergent additive in it.
