This is my opinion, and I'm asian. I find it ridiculous how white people who have nothing to do with their great great great grandfather's uncle's brother's cousin's dad whatever who participated in slavery or racism to apologize now. My point is, people no matter what the colour of your skin is, shouldn't apologize for their ancestors actions, unless the person themselves are racist or did something bad. I'm brown and even my ancestors did some absolute horrible shit heck they even killed millions in my country. Yes it's shameful, but I won't apologize for something THEY did. It just annoys me that now the minority groups are expecting EVERY white person to feel guilty for something they had nothing to do with. The way I see it, ironically it feels we're the ones suppressing white people to apologize, and shaming them to get sympathy. Think of it like this: What if my dad was some crazy serial killer who killed women and kids. Does that make me a serial killer? NO. I didnt do the action I haven't done anything. Should I apologise? NO. I don't responsibility for the actions of my dad. I can acknowledged that yes he was a crazy person and needs to be brought justice but that doesn't mean I should be punished just because I'm related to him. I know its a shit example but that's what I'm saying.

Sometimes it's funny. Often it's just very upsetting. There's only so many times you can apologise for the sins of your ancestors before it becomes literal bullying. I just dont understand why it’s okay to try and force white people to feel guilty for their ancestors racism and mistreatments of coloured people. It’s great that we are acknowledging the past so it isn’t repeated in our present, but non-racist white people should not feel guilty for the words and actions that they themselves have never practiced. We are all individuals so we should be judged by those individual traits. Generalizing and stereotyping people by their ethnicity is racist no matter what ethnicity that may be. They are asking where did the “white guilt” go? Like it is a good thing!?!? Like do you hear yourself?? Do people want equality or do they want to feel victimized? It has me dumbfounded.. wouldn’t “white guilt” be borderline racist because then basically it would imply that people of colour are less than whites?? IMO it should be individual lives matter. That’s how I would assume a morally conscious person would believe. But no I guess judging people by their individual traits uses too much brain power and critical thinking smh. In the grand scheme we are all just HUMANS. Ill forever be preaching one love, one race, the human race. Fuck sakes.

@@ben9610 It is in your power to feel guilty or not, nobody can "Make" you feel guilty. SO, the real question is why do you feel guilty? Are you surprising something you've done or thought about like are you one of those secretive racist people who pretend to be cool in public but behind closed doors you have a ton of ignorant stuff to say? Guilt doesn't just come out of thin air. Just because ive seen blacks on TV robbing doesn't mean i'm a thief, so, if I take it as a shot at me, then it must be a reason why I would think that whites or Asians are calling me a criminal.

This is bullcrap. I'm white, but I'm proud of it. What have I done to you, hm? Have I been racist towards you? No. Then why should I act like I have. I'm proud of who I am. I don't feel guilty, I don't owe you or anyone else an apology. I will not be ashamed of who I am because of the color of my skin. I know racism is a problem, I see it every day, I hear it everyday. But racism wasn't created just for white people. Anyone can be racist, so why does it only focus on white people in general? Why does it focus on white people, their privilege (We ALL have moments or privilege in our lives. There are black heirs to fortunes who have more privilege then me but why should I care?), and how white people were finally owning up to racism. Why does it make it sound as though white people are the main cause of the problem? How is that stopping racism? Anyone and everyone can be racist, despite the color of your skin. So why are white people put on as the villains? And I'm talking about that random white woman riding a bike down the street, or that white boy whose playing basketball with his friends, or that white man whose just trying to get his FREAKING vaccine shot just trying to live his life. Are they the villains? Should they drop what they're doing, get down on hands and knee's and beg for forgiveness, or better yet, make a cringey apology video of it? NO And I'm sick and tired of people pushing me to "repent", or people telling me that if I'm not part of the movement then I'm racist. NO. That's not how this world works, you can't peer pressure someone into guilt, and it certainly won't work on me. Never has.

People who spew this “white guilt” and “white fragility” bullcrap are begging to be victimized. Wouldn’t “white guilt” be borderline racist because it is essentially pressuring white people to think of themselves as societally more valuable than people of colour and coloured people to think of themselves as less societally valued than whites without any individual reason other than their ancestry and skin colour? It is INCREDIBLY toxic and in the grand scheme is creating MORE divide between ethnicity 🤦♂️

White guilt is soul damaging. Just like mothers guilt or any other kind of guilt. My mother always used to say. “ once you ask for forgiveness it is like slapping Jesus in the face if you carry the guilt “. The country as a group and individually has made many apologies and gave the “extra” for decades in order to try and make up for the atrocities of th3 past. And now they suffer from white guilt fatigue and they drew the line when they started calling eVERYBODY a racist. Calling so many people a racist that it has actually lost its power as a word. Now when you call someone a racist people just chuckle because they know it’s just a shut down word when someone is not doing well in a debate or argument.

USA is literally a country made by different people (after terrorizing the actual Americans - native people) and still they have trouble uniting as a nation no matter their color, ethnicity, sexuality, spirituality etc! I can say this with outmost confidence, being a "white" Mediterranean girl where my country's people are mostly of the same origin, even though our skin types are immensely different, from rather pale to quite darker tones, we face similar problems in our system (police brutality, legal irregularities and injustices, double standards between different groups). So maybe we should start consider if this is a predominantly race issue or a humanity issue! Where we can't actually rise above our animalistic nature, respect every person for their uniqueness and differences, use our power (money, social status or whatever) to support one another and stop using any kind of violence (except from actual cases to defend ourselves). Here it's socio-economic differences that earn us the right to be above the law, the right to proper living. We suffer under the very few people left gathering our nation's wealth and dictating our lives. There it's race or whatever occurs. America is so large and so diverse that everything is multiplied (bad events included) and people can't find common denominators to fight for a better living. And this never ending circle will unfortunately continue, because the restrictions and the injustices and the pressure and the violence will be met with more of the same, when the next group of people is in power! Rightfully so? Maybe... But if noone rises above our nature, there won't be an actual change as human history has realistically proven many times! As a species we don't need to keep tipping the scale on our side or the others, we finally have to come to terms with common sacrifices, finding balance amongst us and the rest of the environment that we're also torturing.

In Minnesota, our governor was just on TV saying the reason police change isn't happening is because of the Republican legislature of our state. We used to be a progressive state, in the '40s. Many states can't get past their lawmakers, and McConnell filled many judge seats with conservatives. BTW besides minorities helping get Biden elected. The younger vote gave the big push. They are tired of this, so there is hope for a change.
