I feel like the one reason it was so bad is because anyone with an outdated java version who played multiplayer (which is a lot of people since when you download java it doesn't prompt you to download the latest version) was at the complete mercy of everyone else. Absolutely ANYONE in a lobby could use it and there was nothing you could do about it once it happened, unless you had already updated.

NOTE: 2FA wouldn't help at all as tokens were stolen and not passwords. Logging in with tokens bypasses 2FA. Edit: I also doubt that antiviruses would detect the malware. I got log4j-ed like 2 times and my antivirus was like: "yOU'Re SaFe"

if a person has RCE to your entire computer, surely you would want to enable 2FA for accounts OTHER than Minecraft and Discord, such as a password vault application? 2-factor authentication is one of the most essential safety settings to enable; no matter how effective it is against log4j, there is no reason not to enable it if you can. It's not only there to protect your accounts against the exploit, but also against any other sort of malware that may be installed through the exploit. Also, which antivirus were you using? Each anti-virus ranges in effectiveness, so just because yours personally didn't detect malware doesn't mean others won't. Additionally, when your system was compromised 2 times, were any cryto-mining malwares, remote access tools, or botnet malwares installed into your device? Again, the antivirus may not detect you were compromised, but depending on the antivirus you are using, they may be helpful in detecting harmful malware installed through the log4j exploit...

YAY thank you so much for watching again! :D you're one of the first people to notice the description haha, a few months ago I was watching jschlatt (specifically this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3m0famqmtytbqs) and noticed he was including high-ranking SEO tags in his description, so I tried to replicate a similar-style description but for Minecraft! idk if it actually works or if it's just a placebo effect because I've never posted a video without those tags so i have no idea how a video would perform without them, might have to try that for the next upload! :D

I know most of it is solved but, in the part when you ask everyone to activate TFA, couldn't the exploit get into things like your discord acc with your private token no matter if you had TFA or not?

yeah of course they could but at that point everything's pretty much vulnerable. However, I am obviously still going to advise for 2FA to be turned on because two-factor authentication is great to have enabled on any account regardless as it provides 1 additional crucial layer of protection that requires little work to set up and has saved my minecraft account from getting stolen multiple times :D
