During the final days of the Battle of Berlin, Adolf Hitler's cook disappeared as the city became surrounded by the Red Army. It was incredibly dangerous and Constanze Manziarly was a loyal cook to Hitler who served him for a number of years. She had been told to leave the bunker but chose not to and she then following Hitler's death attempted a breakout alongside a number of other women and SS officers.
But Manziarly disappeared and she went missing from the breakout group. There has been a lot of speculation as to what happened to her and still today the mystery of her demise has not been solved.

Make of this what you will - in the 1980’s my business partner and I worked as contract builders on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. We were building new houses in various subdivisions. There was another pair of builders of European origin, IIRC Dutch, doing the same. One of them was known to be married to Hitler’s cook. He would have been in his 60’s and maybe even 70-something then, anyway of comparable age to my father, a WW2 vet. I always assumed this to mean one of Hitler’s cooks, as to me it made sense he would have had many and various household staff, as befits a national leader anywhere. But there it is, and the only thing I can tell you for sure is that this was accepted as fact among our small segment of the building trade and it was not regarded as anything other than a curiosity. And no, this is vicarious information and we were too busy trying to make a buck to give much thought to it, so it may have been a complete fabrication, but why bother?

That may be the "clue" that breaks this story wide open. There are so many little 'coincidences' here and there that when delved into further, reveal some fantastic knowledge that had been "lost to history."

Thanks for this! I have always wondered what happened to Fräulein Manziarly. I never understood why the women broke out in military dress, as I would think that civilian clothing would have been safer, as there were no women in the Heer. Obviously, anyone in the government district, male or female, would have come under great suspicion, as there were few apartments in that area. I assume her “papers” would have shown she lived in Berchtesgaden, or, if she had “ab/angemeldet” to Berlin, would have shown she lived at the Reichskanzlei. Both possibilities would have clearly tied her to Hitler. I have never heard that falsified papers/identities were made for the women.

Well, we can be sure of one thing. By now, Hitler is most assuredly dead. I remember reading all kinds of "stories" in the 1960's "Hitler Sighted! Hiding In ... (insert name of South American city here) It was rather uniquely interesting that they caught Adolf Eichmann. Avner Less (Israeli police officer) wrote a pretty interesting book about his interrogation of Eichmann. I'd bet there could be some fantastic books that could be written from the Russian interrogator's notes from their "interview" with the high-level Nazis they caught.

I've always been interested in what happened to Hitlers vegetable gardener, Rudolf Möhrenkopf. Of course there are rumours he spent his days after 1945 in a Soviet agricultural institute with other German vegetable experts taken prisoner as part of Operation Parsnip, but this has never been proven. Some say he escaped via the ratlines to Peru and is responsible for the marketing and proliferation of iceberg lettuce in the western hemisphere. I would love it if you could research Möhrenkopfs story and do a video that might shine some light on his actual fate. Thank you!

She could have released by the Soviet soldiers after they checked her papers. After all, she wasn't an infamous "celebrity" like Gobbels or Himmler. She was likely among many civilians questioned and told to move on during the chaotic Battle of Berlin. Then again if they intended to assault her, she could have used her cyanide capsule. Alas, I have to agree that this is the most likely explanation.

Following a theory that Hitler fled to Argentina, in the region of Bariloche, many exponents of Nazism fled in submarines to the coasts of Argentina, also on the coast of the extreme south of Brazil, depending on the autonomy of the submarine. When they disembarked, they sank the submarines off the coast in a deep region. Those who landed in the south of Brazil, in the coastal city of Torres in Rio Grande do Sul, were taken by tire smugglers to the border with Argentina. Tires produced in Brazil during the war were smuggled to Argentina, from there sent to Germany.

I think Martin Bormann escaped Berlin after Hitler's suicide. I think he was able to make it to south America and died there. Then the West German government found out where he was buried, brought his remains back to Germany, and buried them close to where he supposedly died and where they were digging a construction ditch. The dirt/clay that was stuck to Bormanns skull didn't match the soil where his remains we're supposedly found. The dirt/clay looked a lot more like what you would find in South America. The West German government didn't test the soil, or let anyone else test it before they cremated the remains. The supposed crushed glass cyanide capsule that was found in the mouth of the skull didn't match the types of cyanide capsules that the Nazis used at the time of world war 2. There's other inconsistencies with the whole story too. I do believe that Hitler killed himself in the Berlin bunker though.

I agree with that explanation. For a start, finding a random body in Berlin and suddenly somebody thinks 'oh that's Martin Borman'. How likely is that? In fact, his secretary ended up in the UK married to a man who worked for MI6. Some people in the bunker did escape.

If shelling and cross-fire didn't get her; with her body being dumped into a mass grave, unknown, then she probably was either kidnapped by occupying Soviet troops, raped, abused, and finally MURDERED, a fate that befell many Berliner "Frauleins" in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Berlin, OR, she assumed a new identity, as being associated that closely with Hitler would put her in extreme danger. She was simply a COOK, and for all we known, had no meaningful contributions to the Nazi regime, save for satisfying Hitler's dietary whims. He was known to have a "sweet tooth, and, until the bombing incident of 20 July 1944, had put on quite a bit of weight on his frame which, over his lifetime until then, he was actually slim . The many drugs that his quack physician, Theodore Morell, probably contributed to both Hitler's puffy facial appearance and weight gain as did poor dietary choices, and Hitler had, up to about 1942, walked a lot for exercise and relaxation, but busy with the war, stayed a lot within his various command bunkers, mostly at Rastenburg in East Prussia, where the bomb plot took place. After the bomb plot, Hitler became, for a time, a recluse, leading to speculation, both at the time and later, that the post-bombing "Hitler" was a DOUBLE, as well as the Soviet claims, once they took Berlin and the Fuhrerbunker, of having his body not being supported by forensic evidence. Manziarly has been portrayed in several films relating to the Fuhrerbunker, by Phyllida Law in the 1973 Hitler: the Last Ten Days, which starred Alec Guinness in the title role, and by Bettina Redlich in the 2004 film "Downfall".' The reason that the Soviets and/or Allies would prioritize finding Manziarly is simple: as his cook, she'd know what she'd prepared for him the day he purported committed suicide, 30 April 1945. As Hitler was considered to be a vegetarian, others, like his butler and bodyguard, Heinz Linge, reported that Hitler had some pasta and a spinach salad for lunch, a few hours prior to when he shot himself, about 3:30 pm, local time (Central European Wartime Daylight Savings Time). Either would have wanted to interrogate her to confirm what Hitler's last meal was, and compare it to the badly burned remains found in the Chancellery garden shell hole. Evidently the condition of the male's remains did have a fairly intact GI tract, though blackened by fire, with the contents identifiable.

Another person crucial in identification of the body would be Hitler's dentist/assistant.

I always wondered what happened to AH’s loyal cat Peter.Eye witness reports noted how AH enjoyed having loyal Peter purring on his lap.Peter had the important job of controlling the rodent population at Rastenburg.😼Peter’s feline antics entertained the senior German leadership.Yet the Allies made no effort to capture this 😼Why?What happened to Peter the Cat😼?

The body wasn't there when area searched. Years later a body was found BUT CAKED IN ORANGE/RED MUD - that is not found in Berlin BUT IS FOUND IN ARGENTINA. Plenty of post War sightings of him there and certainly access to loot.
