Hi, I'm a Shetlander and my first ancestor is from Unst, a man called Hendrich Hendrichsson. We might not speak pure Norse anymore but the blood is still in us and we have more than a few Norse words still in use. Sjalder, Ern, Teisti, Katty-Ugle, Spooie, Smyrl, Maa, Svartbak, Longvi, Riten, Musbrödir, Sistiemus, Hegri, Skarf, Solan, Loom are just some of our Norse bird names.

Hi, it's from Unst in Shetland, not the Hebrides.

Unst is not pronounced oonst. The U is as in up in English, rhyming with cup, hut, muck, duck. Nice singing.
