the real current block F-35s can't be modeled correctly in DCS because it's still classified, but the general idea is that the current F-35 is better than the F-16, F/A-18 and the F-15 whether it's BVR or WVR. there's a rumor that they tested an F-22 vs F-35 and the result was both jets can't find each other.

@Sparruh9 Жыл бұрын
the funny thing is the viper isn't the best 2 circle fighter in DCS, sadly. F-18, M2K and f-15 all out-rate with clean jets. With ordinance on wings is where the viper is better but you're likely to drop tanks and a/g weapons when getting into a dogfight. This is able to be overcome using the speed of the jet to force mistakes, like GS is good at doing, he baits the other jet into getting slow then uses the excess speed to pull hard. This is more difficult with G effects enabled though.
@Sparruh9 Жыл бұрын
@@OscarZheng50 f-18 max sustained turn rate is around 21 degrees/second while the F-16 is around 19 degrees/second, of course these numbers only mean so much when actually flying against somebody but in true max performance the f-18 still will rate faster.

In previous videos what he has done in this sort of situation is offset the circle. Climb on one side of the circle, descend on the other side, this way you shift the circle until it no longer overlaps, giving you high aspect passes which open up opportunities for high aspect shots or reversing into 1C. This can in turn be countered by the F-16 by matching the climbing and descending so that its turn circle also shifts in the same direction.

How well do you think the F-16 would do against any of the Flanker variants in a fox-2 fight though? Seems like it could have completely different results honestly. Or rather, is there ever a situation where 2 circle fighting is actually relevant in a fox-2 fight?
@wurfyy Жыл бұрын
In a HOBS Fox-2 fight there isn't a lot of room to 2-circle fight because if there's separation, you can usually pull the nose towards the bandit enough to get a lock. However, if we're talking non-HOBS, such as AIM-9L/M and R-60M, the same doesn't apply. You can't really go 2C at the beginning of the fight because in that case the turn circles are offset and it'll most likely be a mutual kill, but you can get into a 2C fight where the circles overlap because then you don't have a moment where you're nose-to-nose.
@GrowlingSidewinder Жыл бұрын
Flankers would probably win BVR and HOBS fox2 assuming the viper mismanaged energy even slightly when executing counter HOBS manoeuvres.
@MemeGnome Жыл бұрын
@@GrowlingSidewinder That's what I thought. The F-16 *can* stay in 1 circle fights, but not for long. Just don't see 2 circle fighting utilized in counter HOBS maneuvering.

Who gets to choose (and how) whether the dogfight evolves as one-circle or two-circle? Presumably the Flanker pilot wants a one-circle, and the Viper pilot wants a two-circle. How are you able to force the two-circle, despite your opponent's intention, seemingly every time? What could you do in the Flanker to make a one-circle more likely? FANTASTIC CHANNEL, by the way!
@firebald2915 Жыл бұрын
F-16 starts and stays by initiating the circle and staying in it. Jinking when he can and hunts that tail.
@therobert9521 Жыл бұрын
He basically stays in a fast circle chasing the tail of the opponent. If the opponent tryst to pull him in the hud , he pulls up so the guy shoots under him. The guy doing the one circle will always be low energy because he's trying to point the nose at the 16. So if the 16 stays high energy, sooner or later the fight will go to the ground where his opponent has no choice but to two circle fight. The key is keeping the F-16 fast (400-450) and don't get into a low energy state where you're trying to point the nose at the opponent.
@n.w.1803 Жыл бұрын
Great analogy, the Viper as a python, tightening its coils until the other guy is outta energy and outta options. That's exactly what the jet was designed to do, to anything then flying, and it's still just about the best at it..
