In this video I show you one of my favourite shots, "Tom's unstoppable forehand attack".
This is a shot I play when my opponent puts the ball to my wide forehand position. I then attack to a very wide position on my opponent's side. This can be done as a drive or with topspin. The key is to take the ball early and play very wide. It is extremely difficult for your opponent to return.
In the video I show footage of me using this shot against a variety of opponent's over the past 12 months.
The rubber I am using in this video is JOOLA Dynaryz AGR bribartt.co.uk/product/joola-...

Very nice, I especially like that it's all about placement and not just hitting strong. BTW a similar shot with the backhand can also be very effective, possibly even easier to execute as backhands are naturally taken more in front (thus it can be more natural to take the ball early than on forehand).

Nice Tom! It must have felt good to win those points against Liam Pitchford. I love that sly grin to the camera afterwards.😄

I love that Tom isn't afraid of making himself look a bit of a fool, which is bound to happen when you're practising against top talent, but it's great to see what a potent force he can be at times for a change.

Seen that shot a few times myself. Normally flying past thinking good angle or OH bugger! 😃😃 Nice Tom. Even managed to get one past Mr Pitch this time in the demo! 👍

Actually, you are one of the very few people who can get this shot back!

Great tip. What I do is I get my players to their warm up with all balls wide for 1 month. Counter hit both wide first then one blocking one looping on both forehand and then on backhand side wide. This gets them used to hitting wide balls. Then it can transfer into match.

I catch myself sometimes drawing a triangle in my mind (vertices are: left edge of net, halfway of left edge of opponent's table half, halfway from net centre to the left edge of the net), and I try to land a few balls there. My opponents don't quite like, when I find out, that they left their forehand side too wide open. Well done pulling that off against Liam Pitchford :)

I think the most impressive thing is how you don't use your hip to rotate and still make that shot :D I can't even hit that angle without using my hips to turn.

You don’t expect the ball to go there even in replays. Very cool shot.

There is nothing wrong with not using body rotation for a soft forehand like this. Good tip! BTW, your index finger is sticking out too much in the middle of the rubber when you play forehand. It makes your stroke looks awkward. :)

Ahh. Something I love to do and I'm getting fairly good at it. And since I'm left-handed, it can drive right-handed players nuts.
