Thanks for posting this. I've loved it for over 50 years and it still sounds fresh to me. The explanation before the performance was very interesting.

Incredible performance- this is an insanely difficult piece for all performers- the score is absolute 1st circle of hell type stuff but once you have mastered it, it is the most thrilling piece to sing- this choir and ensemble make it sound really beautiful.

This post is special to me in multipe ways. It is a wonderful performance of a work I have loved for over 45 years, since I sang it in college. The initial "lesson" provides background that adds to the listeners understanding and appreciation. But what surprised me was realizing who the conductor was: Richard Sparks. I sang under Richard in the late 70's in one of his earliest gigs: Seattle Pro Musica, which he formed while an undergraduate at University of Washington (or so I read online - didn't know it at the time). Two performances with him of that time were experiences for me that have never been surpassed: the Montiverdi Vespers and Mozart's Great Mass in C minor. He's a master of choral music and a great conductor and it's great to see him now still exposing young singers to this special, but not often performed, repertoire.
