what's annoying about using aliases in Apple loops is that you can't use the Arrow keys go back to the user loops folder, cuz you don't go back to the folder with the alias folder, instead you go back to were the real file is stored. It'll work with onscreen back and forward buttons, but extremely unintuitive and confusing. Unfortunately It works the same in the logic Pro file browser.

Hey Chris, do you leave external drives mounted and plugged in at all times and what would you recommend? Also, have you ever gotten the "disk not ejected properly'' message when waking your Mac from sleep?

It's unfortunate that the audio quality degrades so badly when doing this. Good thing is that it's great for just getting quick ideas.

When attemptiong to leave the loops on an external drive and therefore creating an alias in the loop browser, can we create multiole folders? Samples 1, Samples 2, etc. ThaNKS - tremendous content as always.

Loved this video ! Thank you so much Chris!!! This may not be the place to post this question but: I would like to 'slave' Logic to my Maschine+. Can't figure a way to get Logic to 'slave' successfully. Maschine can receive MTC and will follow Logic if Logic is the master. However I would like to do the opposite. Maschine+ (master clock) Logic (receive and slave). Is there any way to do this??? I have tried it several ways with no success.

I don't understand why when you select an untagged loop and then another one they start playing immediately. In my Logic untagged loops it takes always at least 2 seconds before I hear the selected loop. I thought this was related to plugins that cause latency but even in an empty project with a buffer set to 64 the preview is always lagging, way slower than in your video.

Is dragging the folder in from finder the _only_ way to do this?

These have a big problem. When you use samples and loops which are at a different sample rate than your project, in case you don’t want logic to automatically adjust its tempo to the session tempo via flex, it messes up the audio file via warping it and having a sample rate mismatch (faster or slower both time and pitch)

Hi Chris, thank you. I have my entire soundlibrary on an external drive. When I start Logic it first automatically mounts this volume. Wonderful. Is it possible to have the entire Apple Loops folder reside on an external drive, not just the untagged ones? I tried this a couple of times but ran into various issues. Curious to hear your thoughts.

My untagged loops wont play and Logic wont allow me to add in details like tempo to untagged loops. :(

Why don't we all go to and submit a feature request to revamp the Browser. Untagged loops must disappear and Apple must come with a different approach for playing third party loops in tempo from the browser. I already submit a feature request long time ago, but more people is needed :S

sorry for my english, i've been using logic for ages, but the sample management is really frustrating, obsolete, unusable, even the Apple Loops are slow, sometimes they don't even synchronize, i think i've made dozens of requests on this topic, but it seems that for Apple this is not important, while it continues to add useless plugins, instead of fixing the countless problems, i'm sorry to leave logic, but if you try Studio One for a moment, you get scared bro! it's very fast, i don't want to give any spoilers, but why doesn't Apple do anything useful for Logic?!

So untagged loops saved this way will change to project tempo, but WON’T change pitch to match project key, correct? Is the only workaround for this to import into Apple Loops and pick them from the My Loops tag? My only issue with this is the time being taken to organize these, plus as far as I know they can’t be arranged into different sub folders. Any thoughts?

one think I don't like about the sample browser is you can't preview one shot while the logic is in playback like Ableton. the delay is so a workflow killer...
