When knitting color work - there are 2 things I do that has made it much easier for me. 1) place a marker after every pattern repeat. It helps you know you’ve made a mistake sooner rather than later. 2) I use the Knitting Companion app for charts. I download a PDF of the chart, the app will add a ruler and row counter to help you keep on track. It’s much easier to use that a piece of paper and some sort of ruler. I use an iPad but you can use any tablet or phone as long as it uses iOS or Android

Give me strength! Can you believe I was already tempted YESTERDAY?! One of my co-test knitters posted the most gorgeous skein and I just be-bopped over to the website and was like, WAIT. LOL This is going to be harder than I thought!

Your yarn combos are an inspiration for me! Lately I’ve been analyzing my projects and I think what I’m wanting is a more complex fabric. I haven’t really experimented with combining different colors. So will try that in 2023!

I'm so glad! I love a marl, and stripes are also a really inspiring way to combine colors and textures! Love to hear what you make next :)

Best wishes for your marathon! I surprisingly to me took up running in 2016 when I was 56....never did anything athletic in my life! Also surprising to me...I just love entering races! Fall of 2019 was a special time....I ran my only half marathon here in Ontario at Niagara Falls. The finish line was right at the brink of the falls. Two weeks before that I did a personal best at the Loch Ness 10k in Scotland (and there was a marathon, hint hint). I had tears in my eyes at the starting gate...thinking there I was in Scotland doing this thing 90 years after my granny had emigrated to Canada 🇨🇦. Sadly, I've totally lost my mojo, but I'll get it back 😁

Sandra, your story touched me so strongly. Thank you for sharing--you are super inspiring. I actually teared up myself thinking about that beautiful connection you had with your granny. The good news is that our hobbies are all ways there, as you say! And I just love your energy and sprit. Thank you!

Happy New Year Lilly! Have a wonderful marathon! Can’t wait to hear about it. Loved your knits this episode. You have inspired me to purchase Laine issue 11. It took 3 weeks to get here. Totally worth the wait. Every sweater in this issue is calling me. I had already purchased yarn for a Lento. This will be jumping on my needles very soon. I love that you are local to me. I listen to so many podcasters from all over the world. So when bring up the Bay Area. You feel like home. 😊 0:03 I recently went to Pacifica to visit The Royal Bee yarn shop. Super cute, she has a lovely courtyard in the back. Added bonus she owns the coffee shop next door! Happy knitting

Happy 2023 Lilly! I’m excited to follow along on the podcast name change, your knitting journey & the blending with your work. What can that mean….can’t wait to see. This past year I’ve rekindled my love for knitting. I’m a graphic designer & am beginning to think on the possibilities of blending graphic design into my knitting. 🧶🧶 Best success in the marathon. 🔆〽️

I just found you and really enjoyed your podcast! 😊I am definitely inspired by your choice to not buy any yarn online this year. I’ve already committed to a subscription, but other than that, I might just do the same! I’ve been trying to be more present in my consumerism (laying off the Amazon prime, etc.)…it’s a process for sure! Happy New Year, and happy knitting!

Firstly, I think the idea of trademarking words (unless it's taking the word out of its associated contexts, like "Apple" to designate computers and smart phones) is ridiculous, and I think this is a legal fight you could win. Though I also understand why you wouldn't want to go through it. Ugh. I do know people who've come out other side, but with the support of pro-bono lawyers and an entire community of herbalists. And three years later! That being said, this does appear to be an opportunity. "Curate" is a favorite word and "curation" is a process in which I'm actively engaged. I have been long inspired by the French wardrobe, so small compared to the average American woman's, yet so much more versatile, and spectacular. I often joke that I don't have very much in the way of clothing and accessories, but everything I have is amazing. For years I lived in a neighborhood of Boston that had a wine store the size of a shoebox. Yet you could have walked in blindfolded, picked anything off any shelf, and gone home happy, that's how well curated the selection was. All by way of saying I think it would so cool to listen to a podcast that foregrounded this word, this approach. I'm a slow knitter with not much time to knit, so I really need to be selective about my projects, and about my yarns (so I end up loving my creations). But I can still get caught up in trends, wanting to knit what others are knitting, even if I have no need for that thing/that color, etc. in my wardrobe. Would be nice to have a wise guide such as yourself. Look forward to seeing what you come up with for a new name.

Thank you so much for these kind and thoughtful words, Elizabeth! I couldn't agree more--with all of it! I aspire to have a capsule or smaller wardrobe where each item makes me feel really great. It's definitely something I'd like to bring more of into the podcast and now I'm just playing around with names! Thank you again, I really appreciate your support and your insights!
