I’m sorry, but if there’s no snow, no mountain lodge, and no Wendigos, then it’s not Until Dawn.

This is an adaptation of a game mechanic, not an adaptation of the story. I don't understand why they're even calling it Until Dawn if the story isn't getting adapted.

It's nothing like the game. This is a script someone wrote and they needed to attach an IP to sell it.

@ryhanon7Күн бұрын
I think the trailer looked good, and the concept sounds good - but it's Until Dawn in name only. It clearly has nothing to do with the game. I'm not sure that's a bad thing though because the story in the game wasn't very good and often didn't make sense - staying faithful to that story would make for a terrible movie. That said, this is still a Sony movie - so it's got at least an 80% chance of being terrible anyway.

From what I saw this is an adaptation in name only. Hollywood needs to stop this nonsense. The game has a built in audience and all you need to do is give them the game on the big screen.

I dunno why they chose to use ‘until dawn’ as the title when this isn’t what the first game is even about or set in?? Coz This really should be a tv show called ‘The Dark Pictures Anthology’ or a play on that coz that’s what its little series is called… so you could do an anthology show that adapts the games then also does original stories too in its season

Yeah, the "choose your own adventure" type thing on a streaming platform would be by far the closest adaptation from game to movie, but it would be quite costly to do it well, so I guess I understand why they're doing a Groundhog Day type of deal... Whether that works or not remains to be seen; the original game was already basically an interactive movie, so I fear this might have even more of a feel of "why am I watching this instead of playing the game" element so many videogame movies often fall victim to for quite a few people.
@Duuke95Күн бұрын
the Until dawn video game is incredible on its own, but the way the describing the spin of this movie version could be crazy if executed well!!!! Sounds like some type of cabin in the woods meets groundhog day mash up "Every time you die you wake up in a different horror genre, if you can survive without dying until dawn" 🔥 that's hard
@SleepingTroubles12 сағат бұрын
The best idea for an Until Dawn movie would be an intentionally cliche horror movie and leave the most thoughtful creative part to the psychologist guy that is death ot something and the interconnective universe that this anthology series tried to do and do something great interconnecting what essentially could be a cinematic universe There is material there that with some adaptation and top directors could actually make this legit better than the games because the premise is great, they just never fully delivered. This movie could actually go many ways, it's like a Lego for a horror movie director to deliver with the cookie cutter characters and a decent plot, it's already a famous franchise in gaming so they'd have instant eyes on them

This movie is insulting because it gets completely rid of the idea of a faithful adaptation for the foreseaable future, and that is kinda messed up for fans that wanted to see something resembling the IP lol. Besides, it looks visually worse than the game. The game's cold blue tinted aesthetic was atmospheric and still holds up. This looks like a normal horror movie. They didn't even bother getting the visuals right. The groundhog day mechanic is meant to give out a videogamey feel, but until dawn is one of the few modern story based games where each character's death is permanent in order to raise stakes. They picked the worst possible game to pull that gimmick with. Sure, a big part of why people like Until Dawn are the choices, but people remember the wendigos because those were genuinely a good twist to what seemed like a normal slasher. People remember Rami Malek as Josh because his arc is genuinely decently written. I fail to see who this movie is for. The fans won't see something that has zero to do with the game, and the general audience has heard about happy death day.
