Emily is a great character for me. With not boring attitude and actually was useful, memorable lines, iconic chase scene. Satisfying to see her as a sole survivor tbh. After all the shit she's been through in the mines and overall, with a bite on her shoulder, but still standing.

One thing I love about this game is how it throws us off with the monsters and Josh’s plan On the one hand we think theirs some kind of crazed serial killer picking us off, on the other were like what is able to move that quickly and pull someone out a freaking window, then move so fast? Our early assumptions can be the serial killer is mystic and their fore magic in some nature or that their his minions are collecting the people for later Then when we realize the truth of what Josh was doing we’re still left wondering- Wait then who and what was attacking them in the woods then? A double sided story within a story, nice touch.

There's also the triple side of the flamethrower guy being framed as villainous for most of it, and the game misleads us into not knowing whether he's also the psycho or he's a different person who might be bad or might not be (the clues for the stranger and the psycho are in the same "Mystery Man" category)

I love how in different chapters you can see how and where hannah and beth died, matt fell on the same rock that beth broke her spine on, emily got a POV from the mines perspective at the height they fell from, the detail of the game is absolutely fantastic.

My opinions on the characters: Chris & Ashley’s relationship is honestly amazing, and definitely one of the highlights. Mike on the other hand goes through an incredible character arc and becomes awesome. Matt is one of the most underrated of the characters, and him, Sam and Ash are arguably some of the kindest characters. Emily stinks and you can’t convince me otherwise, and you gotta feel bad for jess by the end of it all. Lastly josh is tragic, while he was in the wrong (as many characters were at times) he definitely didn’t deserve his fate. Overall, as winy as some characters are, and as bad/cliche as the dialogue is at times, this game has awesome characters and monsters. Truly one of my favorites

I can't prove that Mike and Emily are aware of the situation at the beginning, but I believe she's telling him to not do anything stupid. Mike does not turn into Nathan Drake by accident. He knows what is going to happen to Jessica if he doesn't get to her. .. don't shoot the monster.. shoot the man... Emily is pissed because here we go again... This fool(Matt)is going to get her strung up alive, skinned, and her organs eaten.. again, unless they can break the curse. And I will forever believe Chris is leading Ashley to her death.

Also, an early scene between Matt and Emily that helps you understand/like both of them better was cut from the vanilla release and the scene was only made available to people who pre-ordered, an entire chunk of the exposition and character building! It's insane to me that they did that, and honestly, it's not fair to Nichole Bloom and Jordan Fisher. I think without this scene, Emily seems way more awful and Matt seems way more pathetic. I hope that future re-releases contain the game in its entirety as the creators meant for it to be seen.

Honestly, I dislike Emily because of her attitude but you gotta give her props for her survival skills and some of her lines are iconic. Ashley is someone I’d keep my eyes on. With Emily and Jessica, yes they are bitches but they feel guilty for something they’ve created by default in the game dialogue. Meanwhile with Ashley it’s like you get to pick and choose whether to be sentimental or just shallow. Even with one of her choices of being insensitive it leads to Chris getting hit by a plank somewhere in the basement depths. Everyone else is cool and have their dynamic and growth. I do wish that Matt had more screen time, he’s been gone for most of the game. I wish that there was a way that we could save Josh and have him carry on throughout the end with the gang. But hey that’s what fanfiction is for right? I’ve watched and played this game so many times. I don’t think I could get bored lol.

Agreed and you could add that even though she loves chris shed be ready to let him be killed, because he chose to shoot her (even though she literally begged him). Another example could be where she freaked out when emily got bitten and was ready to kill her (not directly). She comes of as shy but really its just a mask, in my opinion.

​​​​@@C0riummm Nah, I don't think it's a mask. Ashley is just really panicky and mortified, understandably so with everything she's put through. I think her mind snaps if Chris decides to shoot her right after confessing his feelings for her and literally telling her "I won't let you die", so she doesn't open the door. Regardless of whether she was trying to get him to shoot her, you never know how something like that is going to affect you and your outlook, especially if you survive it. I personally see the situation as either Chris and Ashley both going back on their words or they both continue to have each other's back. The two of them basically live or die by each other, a theme that gets restated in Chapter 9 with the Left Behind butterfly effect too. And she wasn't "ready to kill" Emily. She just wanted her to leave the basement, which is also what Chris wants in that situation too. Mike is the only one who goes too far and considers actually killing Emily. And tbh, if I saw those creatures and one of the people with me had been bitten by them, I wouldn't want to be near that person either.

My personal opinion on every character (hope anyone will be interested) Matt, Chris, Ashley and Sam are best ones. Seriously, they're smartest, bravest and can give a joke sometimes that makes me feel good for their development. I'd spend them some time irl, seriously. Mike was a goddamn bastard at the beginning who was the main character that made Hannah run away. He also cheated on Jessica and was really annoying. But at the end I started to love him as he really tried to help some of them and became a bit pleasent. And Jess was just a little dumb but funny, so I never hated her but never loved. Josh was the one who wasn't lucky. He lost his mind after sister's death and meetings with Dr. Hill. But I really liked him at the beginning so I felt sorry for him at the end, but hated in middlegame And Emily... Ok, she's the worst. She cheated on the best and kindest character and was such an ungrateful one. My final opinion on her made the moment when she kicked Ashley while they were running away from the basement. Anyway, it's really cool that devs made me remember all the characters and feel sorry for them

A lot of people really dislike Emily and I’m not disagreeing. However after playing this many times around she slowly became my favourite. I mean girly over here gave us iconic lines, survivor skills, independence, resourceful, smart, confident, honest, tough, complexity, etc. She’s literally the whole reason why they got rescued at the end. If it wasn’t for Em suggesting to go to the tower to call for help what would have happened after the lodge?! Is she the most favoured character, no. Is she the kindest, no. Is she the most generous, no. That’s the whole point every single movie/tv show/game we all have watched/played there is bound to be a character that is “bitchy”. However most of the time it makes them the most diverse/complex! Without them the game would be such a flop. You need those characters to spice it up a bit. Characters like Ash for example (not my fav but don’t hate her). Came off as boring, whiney, petty, and arrogant. Those characters without much complexity aren’t as liked as others. Em is my favourite because of how she can survive. She also can be nice depending on how you play the game. Most of these fights in the game wouldn’t even occur depending on your choices! Overall I understand Em’s hate, but we can’t just ignore what she has done for the group. Literally everyone has their faults and I can list them all lol. Jess got with Mike after him and Em broke up (btw awful move as a friend). Ashley can kill Chris (even tho she asked him too). Josh pulled that prank (he was hurting because of what happened to his sisters, which makes sense but he did go too far). Chris was legit asleep during the prank and also was traumatized after seeing the flamethrower guy die in front of him. Mike is lowkey a slut. Matt doesn’t stand up for himself and walks around like a lost puppy. Hannah and Beth were just in the wrong place wrong time and didn’t deserve to die (I still think it was dumb that they ran outside when they should have just went to there room). Sam is literally just there lol, she’s the one that calms everyone down and thinks before acting. To sum it up every character has flaws/faults. Even tho Em maybe has the most wrong takes/choices she still doesn’t need too much hate when other characters can be just as bad.

He really did. All of his meds were for depression if you're really paying attention. It's pretty obvious that josh is actually schizophrenic and all of the meds that he's on can actually make it worse. His conversations with his shrink aren't real throughout the game, but the ones in the text messages are very real and aren't helpful either. Game Theory did a whole thing on it.

@@iamtrusfrated6319 My first time I got them all to the last chapter, but I was drinking and shit the bed and get everyone but Sam, Chris, and Emily killed lol (and technically Josh), I failed the QTE to save Matt and Jessica and then ran out of the lodge too early because I didn't realize I'd kill Mike and Ashley. Still, from a narrative standpoint, I think that works. Samantha, Mike, Chris, and Emily fight the hardest to stay alive, imo.

Ashley is my least fave, I hate the whining coward sweetie pie routine, but I don't dislike her because she's angry Chris chose himself- I dislike that she TELLS you to shoot her and then kills you, if Chris just tried to shoot her I wouldn't blame her as much for letting him die (still wrong, obviously), but she INSISTS he do it, and then turns on him. She does the same thing with Mike and Emily in the lodge basement, she wants Mike to shoot Emily and gives him shit if he doesn't, but if he does her relationship with Mike bottoms out and she won't speak to him. She's a coward and a hypocrite, which is why I don't like her, but that's fine in a story! What really scares me are her defenders lol, those people are crazy, just because she acts like she's an innocent wide-eyed baby doesn't mean she's not a bad person.

I've played this games multiple times, and the worst character is actually Ashley. Emily grew on me, even the psychiatrist tells you she's just a manipulative bitch because she's insecure- not that that's okay, but as annoying as she is, she's strong and a fighter. Ashley is a coward; not only will she kill Chris and lie about it, she also practically demands Mike murder Emily in cold blood because she's scared and hysterical. Ashley even gives Mike shit for not pulling the trigger! As shitty as Emily can be, she never does anything in the game as evil and craven as that, and that scene makes me think less of Mike, Ashley, Chris, and even Sam for not stepping in. After playing through the game so many times, I think Emily may be a bitch and Jessica might be an airhead, but they're not monsters- in fact, they're the only two characters who don't give players an option to decide if they feel bad about the prank, it's written into their dialogue that these two specifically are truly remorseful for what they did to Hannah. Ashley, on the other hand, shows herself to be a truly bad person masquerading as someone sweet and innocent.

​​​@@brendanfoehr5086 Ashley's sympathy meter is high which proves there are times where she is actually compassion and caring towards someone. Ashley is someone who is emotional. When it comes to sweet and compasaionate people they get a lot of hate when they make a horrible mistake and seen as manipulative for it. Sweet people can make mistakes as well. There tons of fictional and real people who killed someone. For example Lee Everett depending on how you play him. But they won't excuse how Emily acts. A person may have a history of killing someone out a selfish desire, but that does not mean the person who did not murder is better than them. A former murder can be more caring than people who never murdered someone, but acts neglectful towards others. Ashley is not perfect but it does not mean all the kind parts of her were fake. Everyone is capable of killing someone, whether it's on purpose or not. You have to do more than being helpful and being smart to be considered a good person. If you continue to be inconsiderate towards others while being helpful, you are only helping people out of convienience not because you care. Even narcissist can save and help people too, but that does not change who they are on the inside.

A lot of people would be mean if your friend literally made a decision to date with your ex right after you broke up with your ex. That’s really stupid move as a friend.
