Untitled Motorcycles Zero XP custom electric motorcycle

When Zero motorcycles approached Hugo Eccles of Untitled Motorcycles to see what his take on a custom build of their new SR/F would be, he took it back to the drawing board.
Reimagining how he would design and build a motorcycle if their petrol engined counterparts had never existed.
The result is the Zero XP, machined from billet aluminium and ABS pieced meticulously around an electric motor packing 110hp of instantaneous power.

Wow, a lot of negative comments. Happen to think it's a well executed idea and the fit and finish is amazing! People think it's easy to make a bike this clean... Also nice to see a custom that takes the lighting seriously, rather than just assuming it isn't that important. Not 100% on the front winglets, as why aero on a naked bike? but what a great job of showing off the powerplant, with the rest of the bike sort of just floating around it. Looks like something straight off a movie set, yet you could ride it on the roads, no problem! Amazing work.

Power being of function of torque and rpm, how can you get 100HP @0rpm?

He's wrong at that part. It's possible to get full torque from zero rpm, but even that'll tapers down after 40% of the rpm range, while accelerating. Full power of 110 hp might come around 80%-90% of the rpm range, so it's not possible to get either peak power or peak torque for the whole rpm range.

Great insight regarding design language... for me, that has always been a thing that I can 'internally grasp', but have no means to put into words. Small reminder: you do NOT have the full 110 hp or kW on tap from zero revs. What you DO have is (the sort of constant & high) torque of the electric motor, FROM that follows the enjoyable acceleration. Keep doing what you do! 👌

G009 conventional bikes have bombs on them, too, we call them gas tanks. Many more of these catch fire and explode every year than people realize, but since it doesn't make the news, people don't give it a second thought.

I think he means Motor controller or Inverter also it would have been nice if he mentioned the EXRO inverter instead of just meaningless esthetics about the bike. Lots to like. Like the lighting, the wheels and controls. Don't like the straight seat, some of the angles look a bit haphazard and it looks like it's been left in undercoat. Give it some NICE paint.

Air input is for cooling controller and motor (although you have to push both very hard to make them hot) and passive cooling when charging. Drain holes for rain. Rain tends to wash the 'mud' away.

@@mauron4608 battery sizes are measured in kWh, not kW If a battery was marked 14.4kW that would mean that is the peak power it can put out and then you can plug it into a 50kW motor; you will still only get 14.4kW out of that motor, because you are not pumping enough current into it to get it to put out it's 50kW potential.

Apologies for the incorrect spec- tired after the 5 week intensive build followed by the launch at Goodwood. The 82kW motor produces 140ftlb/190Nm of torque capable of accelerating the XP to 200kph in 7sec

Interesting design concept object to draw attention as a talking point with looks reminiscent of the Zundapp K800 and Triumph T6. But overall to me the visual appeal of the looks to me are slab sided, over weight with an air of 1940's agricultural machinery. It would have been interesting to see a design that gets out of this electric motorcycles following the pattern internal combustion motorcycles. There is so much more that could have been done to actually push the envelope of design.

I love everything about that bike except the tubular frame! A tube frame does not fit a beautiful futuristic bike that has so many sharp angles and flat surfaces. But i guess they had to work with the original frame design of the donor bike Anyway great build👍
