You are correct... This was propaganda by the British to defame Ranjit Singh, so that muslims and Sikhs fight with each other. The fact that Farsi was the official language during his reign, not Punjabi, shows his liberal and all-encompassing attitude. ❤

Maharaja Ranjit singh trained and commanded ist modern army of asia consisting of Sikhs , Punjabi Hindus , Punjabi Mussalmans, Dogras , Gurkhas , pushtoon. pathans , he was the ist ruler in 1000 yrs who was able to push back Afghans fm punjab and even took many areas belonging to Afghan rulers, His Generals included Hari Singh Nalwa, Gulab Singh,Dewan Mokham Chand,Veer Singh Dillon,Sham Singh Atariwala,Zorawar Singh,Chattar Singh Attariwalla,Mahan Singh Mirpuri[ my ancestor],Misr Diwan Chand, DEWAN MULRAJ last sikh rebellion against the British was led by Dewan Mulraj Governor of Multan.

As life long history student from India I must appreciate that podcast dealt with many historical facts. Tej Singh was born brahmin from Meerut. Dogras were mainly responsible for decline of Sikh empire. The murder of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's sons Kharak Singh and Sher Singh and grandson Naunihal Singh was the handiwork of treacherous dogras.

Moreover, war happened much later the assassination of Naunihal Singh was orchestrated by treacherous dogras at the behest of Britishers much before that.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh showed that an ideal King must see all his subjects equally without any discrimination on any grounds. Thus secularism became a basis of modern nation state. Article 14 of Indian constitution is the mark of respect to such Kings ruled in this subcontinent.
