The hardest part of Canada isn’t even that you’re crushed economically by the high cost of living, but the fact that people are non very sociable. The people that are sociable is very surface level. There’s hardly any time or money to spend to be sociable and just really hurts spirit.

14 years in canada. I have ZERO canadian ( white and non white) friends. I'm now old enough and too independent to want superficial friendships. Message to immigrants: do what you came here to do...get ahead in life, save, invest and take care of yourself, your family and community. Keep your culture and heritage close cos you'll never know... you might have to return to them one day

Very true. You said it all . Many more need to hear this. Canada is no more the Canada I use to know. More reasons why I always advise people to start a business back home . Loneliness is another terrible thing to deal with in the west and high cost of living as well. Abroad is crazy .
@faridabdulhamidmohamed17173 ай бұрын
The biggest issue in Canada is not simply jobs. It is the high cost of living. Even if you land a well paying job, you'll still struggle to pay the bills, especially housing as renting a one bedroom apartment in Toronto can cost you anywhere between $2500, $3000 and upwards. This is driven by mass immigration as the high demand for housing cannot catch up with the supply. Landlords have taken full advantage of the situation jerking up rental prices. Food is also expensive given that the price of groceries has drastically gone up by 30% or more in the last few years. The stiff competition for jobs is driving the wages down and the low wages are not adjusting to the high rate of inflation. The healthcare system is also in crisis and it is difficult to find a primary care physician. Basically, the skyrocketing cost of living in Canada should be the biggest concern for newcomers.

I have lived here for decades. You are so honest and right. Winter is worse for socializing. Summer is better because there is a lot going on. Another problem that causes the lack of social interaction is the diverse population that are here from around the world, because people tend to stick to their own circles. You will be told you don't have Canadian experience when looking for a job and are new to the country. It is a country that you have to spend a few years to establish yourself to get the type of life that you are accustomed to. You will eventually overcome the culture shock. Just be prepared to work hard and not keep up with the Joneses.

It is the same as the UK, really HIGH COST OF LIVING! When they opened the doors for the Eastern Europe expansion of the European Union (EU), within the first month there was like 2 million people from Poland alone swamping into the UK, then the rest of the other countries, it was hell! Within the 1st 6 months schools couldn't cope with the large intake of kids who couldn't speak English, then there was an issue of housing, rent skyrocketed everywhere, next was the minimum wage which was by then 9 pounds / hour... The new immigrants were ready to work for 5 pounds an hour and this automatically made the UK born citizens redundant! People had enough, and poured into the streets for change & finally a referendum came... We all voted for BREXIT and the UK is today not part of the EU, immigrants have since gone! All thi is done by design since its part of the elite rulers of this earth agenda 2030 - The New World Order!!

The book "A Place called Heaven- the meaning of being black in Canada" gave me an insight into the system. As someone who has lived in majuu for close to 15 years now, I can tell you for a fact that back home is the best. You come here and get stuck in the rat race. The expectation and pressure from family make most of us continue staying so we are not labeled losers. Some of us who came as students suffer the most because you have to be in the system for so long before you attain the rights to stay indefinitely or as a citizen. I advise people to get into farming, invest in real estate while you're back home to create enough revenue to become even richer than many of us in majuu. You chose the most expensive province to live in. Immigrants flood Ontario but there are better opportunities in places like Saskatchewan or Quebec. As a Canadian i believe you have to do your research. Also, Canadians are hard workers and dont have time or money to socialize. My parents came here from Jamaica in the 80s and miss back home because my mom would have a castle in Jamaica. My mom makes good money here but you have to work hard. I recommend trying to work as a PSW. You can go to school for a few months and already be working. Best of luck to you but you came at the wrong time.

Western countries come with a fixed cost that everyone have to pay no matter what. You cannot go back to the village and not have to pay rent, energy, tax and communication bills and these are usually fixed. The funny thing is if you don't have a job, the companies don't care they will still drag you to court for not paying 😂😂😂 And of course Social life suffers as you have to be busy finding the money to cover the expenditure and no time to build any friendship. I don't like the weather either; the sun hardly shines in many Western countries and this affects people's mood as well. I am over 50 yrs old and once you hit 50 there are no jobs. Can you imagine being retired at 50? This country is not for us at all. I have to leave because there is only pain and frustration to look forward to.

My sister Every where in this world, success needs to be patient. Problems for Africans they want short cut. I arrived here in 2018,was during what Africans called fucking jobs ,after my studies in 2022,I got what I was looking for,making $120000 per year. I am able to help my relatives, now building VIP house back home. I am so happy

But if you are ready to fight for your dreams, those challenges will be there.just be ready. Opportunities are there but it takes time,start with smaller jobs at the plate then you to invest not to stay on any pay cheque.then study because to earn more you must learn more.

Maybe the style of narration is different depending on culture... it takes a LOOONG time for the narrator to get to the point and start talking about the core issue. Lots of beating around the bush :D

Work on you accent abit, buy a wig and cover that our hair, create a Canadian CV aligned with the entry jobs in your field, give it up.to 3months of intense search on indeed. Whatever you do, do NOT come to Ottawa, Ontario and more specifically Barrhaven. It is packed and horrible and everyone has moved there and yet nobody is social or nice. It’s just a pain to be there and the cell service is terrible. Stay back home where you can have social fun because it is not fun here
