Unused sounds from Hal-Life: Alyx. These are marked to be fore the original Half-Life 2 Overwatch Soldiers, there is also a new overwatch soldier model that was never used and it just and HD version of Half-Life 2 soldiers, never seen in-game or in trailers. A few references to freeman.

If I understand correctly, this is a developer repeating lines from HL2 in the early development of HLA to test the vocode effect. It's not unused Half-Life 3 sounds, although the fact that the developer said "Freeman Three" instead of just "Freeman" as they do in HL2 can't be a coincidence...

The game files include these unused lines and an unused Overwatch Soldier model which is an exact HD remake of the Half-Life 2 counterpart. Never seen or heard within Half-Life: Alyx including trailers. Image in the video is an Overwatch Grunt, not what the sounds were used on. You can download the files in the description.

Freeman 3? Is that supposed to hint towards something or was there a designation like that in Half-Life 2 as well?

most of these sounds are re-recordings of default hl2 combine lines. the reason I think he says freeman 3 is because it's the name of the soundfile in hl2 (freeman3.wav). in half-life 2 the combine just say "freeman".

I think it's essentially a designation for Gordon and everyone closely involved with him from Black Mesa. Gordon would be Freeman 1, Eli would be Freeman 2, and Alyx would be Freeman 3.

It's one of the entries for the OICW program, it's a real firearm prototype. You're also probably thinking of the XM-25, which was also a weapon entered into the program.

It's xm28 you almost had it tho and good eye for seeing a weapon that not used in video games that much the only games come to mind is James bond nightfire 2 ghost recon future Soldier maybe one of the early far cry games that all I can think of no other games ues it for some reason.

They had multiple different variations on what HLVR was going to be. They bounced around the ideas of HL3 and HLA for a bit and obviously decided on HLA.

TheMagicLawnMower A lot of the actual lines are the same, yes. But it’s clearly re-recorded and has different post processing and was within hla game files. I know valve already removed the unused metro police lines from the files idk if these are still in. They still have an unused model of the remake of the Overwatch Soldier you saw in hl2 as well in the files.
