You said when your controller cuts out then you have to reset it , is that a difficult task ?
@Yahgiggle3 жыл бұрын
if its cutting out it most likely be the BMS in the battery to protect it from drawing more amps than it can handle, just upgrade your BMS, in fact that bike battery compartment would be perfect for making a 60v battery out of the 36 and 48 cells
@joc18623 жыл бұрын
Yes, BMS not chunky enough. 60v battery will be another project for me. Thanks.

Can a 36v 20amp work on a 36v 10.4amp 500w battery what would we have to change we're thinking about converting it like you thanks.
@joc18623 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you can fit a much larger battery on your bike.. More amps is ok. More volts can cause problems.

Hi I have a Michael Blast bike with a Bafang 350v rear hub motor and are going to replace with a 500v motor I have will have to lace it into rear wheel as the inside seems different size tried but wont fit, have a new 48 controller and need to upgrade battery from 36v to 48v battery any suggestions on adding to the 36v battery as looking at $1000 plus to buy a new one just want to add more cells if that can be done ??? thanks
@joc18622 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can add a separate 12 volt pack in series with the 36v to bring it up to 48v. A bit of fiddling with the wiring of the 36v needs to be done to bring out a connection as I've done in the video. The 12v pack can then be fitted to bike where you have space. One important factor is that the amperage of the 12v pack needs to be the same, or bigger than the 36v pack and the batteries need to be of high current output. You also need a separate 12v charger. Trying to add more cells internally to the cells in the existing pack is far more difficult, especially if the pack is in a hard case. A new BMS is required, and the cells all need to be rewired to suit the new additions. A separate pack connected in series is the simpler option unless you know what you're doing.

hi jo can you tell me what voltage the controller is, i have a 48v 1000w bike will the control take 52v battery cheers
@joc18622 жыл бұрын
The controller is rated at 48v but I checked inside and the capacitators are rated at 63v, so yes, my 48v controller can handle a 52v battery which charges to 58.8v. Your's probably will too, but check caps to be sure.

I have ebike MATE X-750W. Battery 48V/14.0Ah fail. When turn key to ignition position volage drop to 0V. What can i do?
@joc18623 жыл бұрын
Six possibilities: Very simple one: Battery may have a fuse holder. Check if fuse is blown and replace. Simple one - a wire has come loose on the battery output contacts (happened to me once - easily fixed by pulling battery out and resoldering wire). Less simple one: The key switch is dead - needs replacing. Difficult one: BMS in battery is blown - but can be replaced. More difficult one: some batteries are dead. Check the voltage at the charging port. If it reads good voltage there, batteries are ok and look at one of the other problems. Last problem: Controller may have developed a fault - but then your display would probably not work.

Looks good interesting on the battery hook up. Will look into that more and see deeper how that works. Try Bolton Bikes (USA) upgrade kit w/monitor for Rad Rover and RadMini. This kit is plug and play for RadMini and may be more willing or able to adapt to the bike you have . The Motan is similar to the RadMini in looks. Can’t speak for the wiring but thought to pass this along.

Thanks. Have looked at Bolton bikes on youtube. Yes, bike looks similar. Too expensive to get USA stuff here and am quite happy with the way bike works now - can climb mountains!!

Lol the wires are usually coulared coordinated and also you could have fitted your battery in that little space if you drilled holes for the bracket that sits on the battery amounted to the chair post or to whatever post was sticking up in that space you could have made it work should see my beast got a kids green machine and put a gokart cheer on: gokart wheels: 48V20AH battery witch for some reason charges to 55v: Just put a key barrel in: 3 speed throttle as it's to powerful at full throttle: 😂 Got these super mad super bright led light for night riding it's safe haha its legit a death trap and all taped up and zipped tied up looks like a mess haha call her the mean green machine my favorite project so far haha just unfortunate that I never shared it on KZbin cool vidoe anyways keep it up 😎💪

Be VERY careful with that battery setup. Those batteries are used in RC planes and quads can and will blow up like a bomb it damaged at all. At a min. you should put them in a housing that keeps them from being hit. If you drop the bike on a trail and the open packs get a stick or anything it will burn your bike to the ground. shock damage can be seen as the cell will expand and swell. At this point they are tashed and need the wires cut and the battery put in a saltwater filled tub so they drain to 0. Be Safe and have fun.
@joc18623 жыл бұрын
Yes, experienced that once already. On another bike, a Lipo pack fell off, got caught in the spokes and damaged the casing. It spluttered and sizzled furiosly. I didn't show it, but on the bike in the video I encase the pack in foam and strap it very securely. Thanks.

@@joc1862 They're a lot safer than folk think, if a pack ever swells up on you just gently stick a pin in it at a very shallow angle "so not to puncture cell" then squeeze /push the gasses out with your thumb, of course if it's hugely swollen you can still bleed off the build up of gasses but sometimes the cells often fail anyway /don't last long/lack guts, anyways you take it easy mate and av a gud'n, I run a 250w geared brushless motor with a 36/48 22 amp controller, with a 54v 13ah lion battery, it's perfect, I'm 6'2" 18 stone and I get over 20mph and a good 20miles 😎💪👍🙋/ put a kit on my mtb and total bike weight is now 45 pounds which is brilliant for an ebike, I always wanted a FAT BIKE, so much fun.

@@ianmangham4570 Always seal pinhole with good tape afterwards. Sounds like you've got a very good motor to get that kind of performance from a 250 watter (probably pulls 700+w on full power with your controller and battery). Agreed, ebikes are great fun - you still get your excercise but the hills are far more enjoyable to ride up....

@@joc1862 Just your standard 250w minimal/ geared brushed hub motor, I've been over clocking motors all my life 😄"rc cars/planes" all you gotta do is be careful of the heat, and believe me over here in England that's not a problem ,I bought a 36v kit about 6 years ago now, had ya basic 10amp controller with only 50v capacitors so I bought a 36/48v 22amp controller off ebayUK for £22 and that has 80v capacitors and larger /more mosfets, so I'm safe. 😎👍

It appears that you have broken every rule of lithium battery configuration and don't seem to have run into any of the problems they warn you about when connecting batteries in series. By all accounts those lipos should have exploded a long time ago.
@joc18623 жыл бұрын
Yep, you're right... started the experiment very carefully but had no problems at all. Lipos don't even get warm.Trick for the series connection is to make sure the lower voltage batteries have a higher amp capacity than the LiOn pack so as not to stress them. Lipo 'c' ratings are usually higher than LiOn anyway... and always charge separately.
