I adjusted the brakes on mine, took up the free play on the levers with an allen key, and unwittingly activated the cut off to the motor !!!! When you pull the brake lever, it cuts power to the motor for safety, by adjusting the brakes a little too much, the cut off switch was permanently engaged. Just backed it off a little and all was fine.

Our Aventon Pace bikes were flooded in Ft. Myers Hurricane Ian. We rescued them the next day and washed them off. The batteries were destroyed. Took them to a bike shop....they cant get them to turn on and advised trashing them. Any thoughts on how to proceed? They are just trying to get us to buy a new bike.

Johnny love your videos. I have a question on a new build with a bafang 750 mid drive. Everything seems to be working, but only for like 1 second then motor slows way down, if let off of throttle when hit I again get full power for about a second then it cuts back to barely working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated , I do have another bike with all the same parts so I will change 1 piece at a time to try and find the problem but you might have seen this before.

Thanks for the video! In my case the situation was the battery tabs, after 700km my girl friend Bird bike started acting like intermittent power, I use a very small flat head screwdriver to push the tabs back and it looks like fixing it. I notice when the bike is getting a bump we observe the issue, I guess the frequent bumps make the contact to be loose. I now use a velcro strap to tie down the battery, hopefully it might help.

We bought two Lectric XPs. If yours arrives and works out of the box count yourself lucky. If it does not you'll spend a few hours underneath a brand new bike following emailed trouble shooting guides. If you fix your brand new bike you're lucky again because it's a high hurdle to get Lectric to get a new, working bike sent to you for the good money you've already paid. Things happen, we all understand that. The true measure of a company is how well it puts things on track, and makes a customer happy when things do go wrong. Lectric e-Bikes has a ways to go on this count. Be advised.

Hi Johnny, some good advice there. Yet although I think my issue is probably simple, I found myself without options. I have a Skott-E Sub Tour, the controller displays everything except the speed indication, so I naturally check that the magnet on the back wheel is in-line and that the battery is ok. I hang up the bike to test the speed, yet still no graphic or indication with the large speed info? The controller seems to be fine, yet wonder if an internal battery in it is low on power? Apart from this I have no idea, I also checked the wires. Any tips? 🙏

Question: my ecotric rocket is 3 years old and recently the motor always operates at approximately level 4. It has 0-5 levels. But even at level 0 it runs up to 17mph as if it's in level 4. This happened recently I believe after a rear tire change.

I bought an e-bike with the same interface about 9 months ago and recently it randomly stopped going full speed of 50km/h and only reaches a top speed of 24.5 km/h. What could have caused that and what can be done to repair it? I tried to reach the company but didn't have any success. They stated that I needed to reset the bike and gave me reset instructions that didn't work. I found a video on YT instructions for a reset which worked to reset the bike but the speed problem remains the same. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Johnny. I got the isinwheel M10 Commuter Ebike only 10 days ago. My battery is fully charged, the problem is when I turn the throttle, the motor just lurches for 1-2 seconds then stops. If I get off the bike and lift the back wheel, it works fine, but when I sit on it, the motor stops after a second. I'm only 130lbs and the specs say up to 330lbs, so its not my weight. any suggestions?

I was all bummed my bike crapped out and was looking for more technical troubleshooting, thought what a worthless video, Duh who wouldn't have checked their connectors and cables, stoopid! Been through the continuity testing of the mosfets, etc. I totally thought I wasted my time watching your video! Decided to go back out in the garage and check all my connections... Eh, you nailed it brother! I'm eating crow. Sure enough the axle wasn't quite tight enough so it spun a bit and kinked the cable that goes through it, I straightened it all out and she fired right up! @JohnnyNerdOut for the WIN!

You should plug into your battery first, then plug the charger into the wall/ power source, it will prolong the life of your battery

I read a comment that said the problem could be faulty wiring in the battery however the bike ran perfectly for over a hundred miles before this happened.. I've been checking wires and other things and I discovered a sensor on the crank I'm guessing controls the on/off when peddling or not so my next question is should it be freely riding or should it be in some way held in place

I have a rear motor on my ebike. I was riding and my brake line to the back wheel snapped at the lever, then the motor stopped working. I'm going to try what you said about disconnecting break cutoffs and see if that fixes the problem... will report back...

Mine gets error 16 so cuts when doing both breaks and it only supports in a certain gear also its a brand new bike . Replaces many things including the speed sensor and new shifters but still acts like that?

Hey, I have an Oraimo scrmabler 100 and it was working perfectly. I turned it on for a second and the screen went off, I thought it was dead and charged it back up and it wont come one at all. Looked at all the cables and wires and connetors and it looks good. any advice

Put a multimeter on your battery. Make sure it’s good and all the physical switches and fuses are good.

My custom built e bike died when I was braking the regen came on for half a second then gone I look down to a blank display it will not power on anymore the battery is fine and at about 80% -85% charge my 12v system gets it's power from the controller and all the lights work just fine. I've only done limited testing on the controller but I think it is the display because the on/off is connected to it and if turning the key off cuts power to the display then that on/off button may do the same.

Hi, I bought a battery and charger for a pre-owned Geliesen Ebike. When I received the battery, the bottom doesn’t have the pin connectors. It’s just metal on the bottom. Is it possible to still use the battery with this bike?

thank you Johnny. I just removed the broken brake cable plus some small components, and while just started to riding the biycle, I pressed the brake and suddenly no throttle. I opened the youtube immediately, watch your video and you mentioned something about the brake. I reinstalled the brake component... whatever it is called in place, and walla, the bicycle ran again.

Hi. Maybe you can help me troubleshoot. I have a converted e-trike with an MXUS motor hub that uses a 52v battery. Recently, any time I'd ride it, the e-trike turns itself off, then I turn it back it turns off again, then I turn it back on but won't come on unless I press the button 10x. Then it will come back on but none of the sensors work, then it just dies completely. To get it to remotely work again, I have to unplug the battery then replug it in, but it will not stay on long. The batteries are still good, (trust me, I spent $600 on a brand new battery and it's still doing that), they're fully charged, the voltage is fine, and so far the shop that did the conversions have found nothing wrong with it and it works PERFECTLY fine when they use it, but it immediately starts doing it to me when I bring it home. I tend to ride it at max speed, but this has never happened before, and even when it's not max speed it still does it. Is it something wrong with the hub, the motor, the display, the wiring? I need help figuring this out because this trike is my ONLY mode of reliable transportation.

What if the key lock component is housed separately such that when the top cover four screws are removed, the key lock component is residing in a separate compartment housed in plastic cover adjacent to the main plastic casing? And battery is slided into the battery holder bracket of the ebike?

Do you know when your battery has like 10% and it gives those moments when it gives energy and It's all fine but after seconds it cuts off energy so pedals make that noise... My battery is fully charged, i have changed connectors both, inside the battery and inside the racket. It goes smooth for 30m and then again it interrupts as im riding, interrupts the current and then goes well, display stays always on, only the pedal assist stop and starts in fraction of seconds, then it goes 10s and then all over again 😭 any idea?

One of the contact points on my cradle is mostly burned away with even the plastic surrounding it being deformed. Is it possible to buy a new contact point or if not, perhaps just the cradle itself? Thanks

I have a Phantomgogo R1 36v scooter. When I tested the 5v red wire coming out of the controller I found that the 5 volt Red Wire is pushing 17.44 volts. I am afraid of connectiing the.controller to the throttle because I do not want to damage the throttle. Is this high voltage normal or is it a defect? Will it destroy my throttle?

Help...Brake light wont come on even with headlight on. Error 25 came up for just a second then went away and we noticed the rear brake light didnt work at all. I checked the wires into the brake light and also unplugged all the brake light Leeds and put them back on, still not working. Bike runs great with no error code now but brake activation or headlight turned on there still is no NO BRAKE LIGHT Thoughts? Guess I need to see if the brake light itself went out.. Himiway Bike has 5 hours max on it... The nubbies are still on the tires.

Well I did a volt check to the rear light and NO POWER. Again checked all the leads and all connection pins look good... Himiway wants a video of the problem. I think this is their way to make me go away.... Why a video, brake light doesnt work when brakes are applied or when headlight is on. Can I ask about the k800 fat bike? I just swapped out the display because the other one. The screen was half burnt out. It's the M5 e bike works with the old display as soon as I put on the new display the bike does nothing. I've adjusted the setting and still nothing what am I doing wrong

Thank you 👍My issue might be severed cord. It seems only the black outer covering is cut in three places. I don't know how that could have happened but that cord seems responsible for my front break. My problem is that the wheels don't move as easily as before and the pedal assist isn't as strong as it was, as well as the throttle slows to a stop. When the wheels kind of lock and are hard to turn, the assist doesn't work and sometimes it works suddenly causing it to jerk. I wonder who I can take my bike to to look at it. Are there places that take care of bikes?

Hello, I have no idea what it could be, but my fat bike (ouxie v8) is working perfectly, charges well and everything works, etc. until the battery drops below a certain percentage, approximately after 15 km of riding, then it still shows on my screen It seems to have around 46 volt output, but as soon as the support starts working it cuts out after a second and the lights that indicate how full the battery is no longer work, I have never actually had this problem but it came out of nowhere. Do you know if something like this can be solved and if you have any tips, that would be great!

i received a new battery which was too big and the bike shop had to move the thing the battery plugs into and now when i switch it on the lcd will light up and go off but generally if i switch the battery off and on again it will light up and its powered up sometimes i have to do this multiple times before it powers up. You may have an idea about what I'm experiencing. I have an electric bike that shuts off after a few seconds of riding. In both cases, using the pedal accelerator or the throttle control button, it happens. The bike display indicates the battery is full and there are no issues.

I am having the same problem. Another channel suggested taking the battery off and adjusting the connector prongs on the base of battery so connectors would fit more tightly. I haven’t tried it yet, but am hopeful it works. Let me know if you were able to get yours working again, please.

I'm having similar problems, I lost power assist but still had throttle. So checked my sensor and magnetic ring. Swapped out sensor for a new one and didn't work. Yesterday i went a mile down the road and it shut down. Powered back up with full display but touched the throttle and it cuts out. Motor is fine, display, battery is good and all cables are good. It can only be the controller.

Mine stopped working after a wash 😤 so im assuming the control thing on the handlebar was not fully waterproof. Now it wont turn on but the front light in always ON and i cant turn it off. So i just unplug the display for now to turn off the light but obviously the main concern is i cant turn on the motor..

I bought my son an SMLRO ebike I've changed the throttle the display and the rear wheel where the motor is. The led shows no codes and allows me to put peddle assist on. When I turn the throttle it makes a very faint beep and the wheel will slightly move. It's been a headache don't know what else to try.

Hi. I'm having trouble with my fuell flluid-1s. Belt drive ebike. The company haven't been able to help me with the issue. I think the chain ring bolt might be lose? The pedal crank has about 1/4 inch of slack on mostly the right pedal when it's at the highest postion. It's this way with or with out the motor turn on. And pedal it backwards there a light blockage of some kind. It pedals past the blockage but it's there. Any suggestions? Thanks. Steve

So this happened with two of my e bikes no clue how to fix them. One is a ancheer full electric bike and the other is a 36v hyper e bike. hello. my nakto camel 250w 36v bike has a good battery 41 volts as shown on ohm meter, and shows full charge on throttle lights. once i go to ride it will start to run down quickly. then it will cut out. once i turn the key off and back on it does fine but then will cut out again. could it be a bad battery but still read 41 volts? or coud it be another issue? the bike is 2019 and hasnt been rode much, but also was not charged regularly as it should have been. thanks for any help. i just bought a pair of these bikes from elderly couple on marketplace. whats weird is that they are both the same model but have different battery pack sizes. one bike is older than the other. both bikes read 41 volts and the other bike does fine, but the older bike (2019)model is the one with issue. im new to ebikes and i know nothing about them. very sad that i have trouble before i can enjoy the bikes

i have a skylark so i don’t think i can remove the battery but everytime i try to twist the gear to go forward, it works for 1 second then stops. What do i do about that? thanks !

Hey John, I have a question. can l replace any lcd display with throttle on my ebike? My ebikes now doesnt have throttle. i want to upgrade and put throttle on it. is there any points you can give me before doing the upgrade? last thing, changing my display will it affect my controller?

Not just any display with work. You will need to make sure it’s compatible with your controller first. If you bought it complete. Ask the manufacturer (brand) what options you have. Replacing controllers can be a headache especially if the brand is not helpful.

Hi Jonny, I have an L750 pro step through, fat tire, rattan e bike. I had a back tire blow out, my ex fixed it but was unaware of the wire attached to back tire & yanked on it. Now my bike powers off if I go into any gear higher than first. I checked connections but don't know anything about ebike maintenance (yet). The display stays on, the battery is fully charged, but if I push the throttle in gear 2 or higher, it powers off. Sometimes if I take battery out then put right back in, it will power back on but as soon as I take off, it powers off again. Can you help? I'm a single mother, with no extra money & this bike is my only transportation. Thank you.

It sounds like possibly the yank may have pulled a wire out of either the controller or the motor. I’d start with a new controller as that is cheaper and easier to replace than the motor. If that doesn’t fix it, get new “motor guts”. It’s about 30-60 min job to replace the guts by a professional.

had an error code 31 (communications error ) the lcd screen lit up like normal but i noticed the battery level indicator normaly like 5 bars or batteries in the battery shaped indicator on lcd was just an empty rectangle. took m620 bfang out checked everything . now no power at all to the display .....help ? thanks

I have a 2019 Giant Trance electric. It suddenly wont turn off. I’ve removed the battery and checked the fittings but still having the issue. Any idea? Thanks!

My battery works(checked with a voltmeter), my display turns on, I tried unplugging brake sensors, my motor does not run at all, what could be the issue? Is there a way to check that motor is working ?

That happened to my bike what you have to do is the display say 21h that means it is the speed sensor

Really appreciate all your videos! Not sure if you're still replying to videos, but I have a problem I have yet to see a video on. My bike has de-rated itself from 42km/h to 21km/h. Was like that for the first 500km as well. Then like a flip of a switch back to how it was. I don't know how I got it to go fast the first time, it just kind of did it on its own. Messed with display settings to try and get it back with no luck. Controller, display and motor inside all look good to me. Any ideas?

I’d do a firmware refresh (assuming you have a Bafang bbsxx?)

Hey Johnny I just got an ebike. So my problem is two things, my throttle only works when I push the ebike up to 4mph or when I use the pedals, but it doesn’t work when ebike is stationary, the throttle is useless at this point. Second problem is the lcd display Keeps shutting off the first 5 minutes of riding the ebike as well as the battery bars on the display jumps from 5 bars to 2 bars to one bar back to 5 bars like in seconds, when it’s actually 4 bars or fully charged. can this be that my battery doesn’t have enough voltage ? Or faulty battery ?

@@JohnnyNerdOut yeah! right now I’m in that process as we speak, they got me speaking to one of their mechanics. He had me inspect the Ebike just like you suggested on your video’ everything looks normal to me’ motor works’ throttle works besides from what I told you, the breaks works’ pedal assist seems to be working fine. I disconnected the breaks and see what happens’ same behavior..
