Thanks for this video Brian, I also wanted one of these cars as a kid. When Lionel brought it back in the 80’s I immediately bought one. Still have it today!

Yeah, the aquarium car is one of my favorites as well! It's a great car and had to do an episode on it! Love the older footage of the mockup!. Thanks, Brian

Nightime shot, showing the paint chips with light showing thru clear shell is cool. I knew the shell was clear, but never saw a nightime illuminated image. Thanks.

Goal of this channel is not only try and show some of the cool stuff Lionel made, but also do it a little differently than before!. Love shots like that as well!! Thanks, Brian

Definitely one of best cars Lionel made, also the loudest, but I love it anyway. Great video Brian!

I will soon, as always, the layout is not done yet!!! CCT wants me to do one as well, so will probably do it in the spring. Keep an eye out. Thanks, Brian

@@BriansTrainRoom I would like to learn about the brown bottle smoke pellets from (I think) 1966. I watched your other two videos on smoke pellets and I am looking for that white box now. I am also a fan of Berkshire’s, especially 1950. Getting psyched that my family room layout is around the corner. I only have track rights from the Macy’s Day Parade until the second week in February.🙂

Great! Always thought the 3435 was one of the more interesting cars put out at that time period. Finally tracked down my own Aquarium car recently.

Awesome video showing this car. I’m on the hunt now for one to add to my collection! I’m in the process of building my first large layout and trying to keep it mostly postwar. I just discovered your channel and it’s giving me the motivation I need! Keep it up!
@BriansTrainRoom23 күн бұрын
Glad to hear it. Love the postwar stuff, it just makes for such an interesting layout. There are some great "New" items out there, but Im pretty old school. Have fun with it and remember a layout is never finished!. Got to get you an aquarium car for sure!. Brian

One of a few cars I haven't obtained yet,but I don't get the box fascination. I'm never selling my trains,and just took 200 lionell engines,off the market forever.

Definitely one of the pieces worth getting, a really cool operating car and has some collectable variations as well. Everyone collects differently, and some people really appreciate and value the boxes. It is what makes the hobby so great and robust. Appreciate the comment, enjoy! Brian

I got a HO Lionel train set in 1961 for Christmas. It had a Alco FA in Chesapeake and Ohio, a pipe flat car with load, a helicopter launch car with a Bell helicopter, a Radioactive waist car, and a work Caboose in C&O. Still have the Radioactive waist car (that still works) and the Caboose (missing a truck and a tool box).

Great pieces, crazy the engineering that went into each of those pieces and the fact that they still work is amazing! Thanks for the note. Brian

Interesting comment, I wonder if the animator did some work for Lionel, I will look into it!. Brian

I too have bought one when Lionel reissued this car. Like you I always wanted one due to that great fish motion both while running on the layout or on a powered siding that can activate the action. I do not care about variations since I am an operator and not a collector other than wanting interesting action cars or cars of unique design that interest me.
@BriansTrainRoom21 күн бұрын
yeah, its a great car and perfect addition to any layout. Amazing the engineering that went into a toy back in 1959! Thanks ,Brian

If you want to fix those paint chips to hide them, paint the inside of the shell black, don't try and touch up the outside You can also do that with any locomotives that have light bleeding inside the shell, so you can see it through it, helps a lot. Swap to LED's to reduce built up heat however, don't risk it, not worth it at all.
@BriansTrainRoom21 күн бұрын
Great suggestions. Early variations of the car actually had black or sliver paint on the inside of the shell to reduce light from escaping. They know that was an issue from the start. Thanks, Brian

Brian, I have an idea for a future video. How about the "mint cars"? I got my first fort Knox car at york this year. It is postwar.
