have been following ur stuff real closely as well as the newsletters! I’ve learnt a lot from all of them but would love to hear more about advanced strategy tips in a video or breakdowns of pro/rec plays more. I wish I could do the 5 day intensive but I live in socal as a student. Would also love to see some DUPR guessing, some tips for the mental game, and more podcasts!! I love listening to your podcasts over a meal or when I’m about to sleep/commuting. Keep up the good work Jordan!

Thanks so much man! Please follow our podcast channel and also our Real Pickleball channel. We’ll be doing lots of breakdowns there!

❤love this high level strategy! Where to dink, how to hit topspin dinks, how to hit backhand slice dinks. You keep me coming back for more Jorden! Next video, Right-side player tips please 🙏 😊
Excellent video, Jordan! In our informal PB group of about 20 rec players, nobody except me and my drill partners (2 of them) use topspin. We are using your training videos to perfect our topspin shots. I'm teaching my partners how to do it. We will be incorporating this specific drill in our next sessions. Excellent video!

The best way to develop topspin is honestly just to play tennis. I'm a tennis player that likes the occasional casual day and I have so much topspin that nobody even hits my ball thinking it's going out.
@BrionesPickleball2 ай бұрын
For new players playing the game, I would not send them to tennis just to learn topspin
@kalo85242 ай бұрын
@@BrionesPickleball Ya that's fair enough lol
@PatrickDeBoard19462 ай бұрын
@@kalo8524 I don't need to play tennis in order to learn how to hit topspin in PB. I have already learned how to do it. My serves and drives all dive sharply before going out long, because of my topspin. I also have three other very spinny serves: low and fast pace screwball that curves in the air and bounces right, a high arc and slower screwball that curves in the air and bounces hard right, and a backhand slice drop serve that curves in the sir and bounces left. I hit these various serves to backhand of my opponents. On good days, when I execute them well, maybe half of them are not returned.

This is exactly what I needed. I very much prefer to play on the left. But in general working to get my footwork 1% better every day

Footwork first is such an underrated concept. It’s helped my dinking a lot.

Definitely!

Yes. That's where I'm spending my time right now. If you think your footwork is good, video yourself playing. Harsh reality.

Awesome vid Jordan, can we get a video on right side dinking breakdown as well
Great video. You posted this yesterday. The link to sign up for the free Master Class is already closed! A one day window to sign up for your "free" offering doesn't seem right. How about you open that up again?

Another great vid. I'm almost at the point where these strategies and techniques will become the focus of my practice. Footwork is improving.

Jordan, what grip are you using on your forehand topspin shots?
@BrionesPickleball2 ай бұрын
Eastern
@johnandcindyandlulu2 ай бұрын
@@BrionesPickleballFor clarity - your ready position grip is continental for volleys and backhand slice dinks and flicks. But if to your forehand you are actively closing your paddle a little (to Eastern) to hit the topspin dink and speed up. I suppose if you choose a forehand slice dink, then you’ll stay in continental. Sound about right? Thank you!

9:05 and specifically waiting for the apex/ fall is sooo CRUCIAL. So many players dont understand this concept to hit topspin shots

Now that more players are using two hands to hold the paddle if the ball hits the off hand is that still a legal shot? does the off hand have to be gripping the handle?
@BrionesPickleball2 ай бұрын
Hand has to be on the grip

Have you ever heard a junior instructor who is rating you tell you that you play to aggressively, even though you win all the time at the 3.5 level. He says it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Oh really???? Then why are we all taking lessons and clinics if we don’t want to improve and win matches. Any advise would be appreciated.
@BrionesPickleball2 ай бұрын
Not sure about the exact scenario, but winning matches does count for something in my book.
@LeeCabell2 ай бұрын
@@BrionesPickleball Absolutely, why play if that’s not your goal.
@NathanBrantley2 ай бұрын
I’m guessing, that you’re winning lots of shots and thus games, off plays that are not going to work above 4.0. I can’t even count how many games I’ve lost because my partner is doing moves he made a habit of after years of 3.5 play. Most commonly is speed ups and lunging side drives (where a soft dead dink to middle to reset would be 110% wiser). Honestly it’s hard to explain over text.
@joshc.6706Ай бұрын
So what I think is going on here was mentioned in another comment. If you want to get better, you may be winning at 3.5, but the tactics that you’re using to win will actually cause you to lose at the 4.0-4.5 level. I heard it described as learning how to win for tomorrow. You may lose early on by using newer tactics but it’ll actually benefit you in the long run as these tactics are going to what you need to be successful at the higher levels.
