Jesus is not a substitute. He saved himself as well as those who believe. He prayed to the God who could save him from death and also entered the Most Holy having received eternal redemption. Read the Bible.

@@11304800 I think that would be sin and it's effects. By living a sinless life, Jesus saved himself and the human race from the the condemnation of sin. If Jesus would have sinned he would have been condemned with us. Therefore, he saved himself from potential condemnation, and the rest of the human race from actual condemnation.
