Wow Elyssa you have done it again, another great video and insight in to another new place for us to learn about when we return to Rome, To see everything you have told us about we need to come to Rome for a month never mind a few days. Your knowledge and perfect way of telling us about these magnificent places is second to none. Thank you so much

Thanks so much Peter, as always. I know this particular place is quite esoteric. I debated about sharing it since it's not possible to visit it, but I love sharing some of these lesser known sites in Rome and their fascinating history. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for another interesting video. P.S. Christianity had gotten to Rome by the middle of the first century. Paul wrote to the church in Rome in the 50s.

Thanks for watching. Yes, you are right. I should have clarified that it was barely known and had not yet begun to be practiced widely.

Thank your videos, Elyssa. You present the information really well and your research shows 🙂 Hubby and I are coming to Rome for 7 nights in May. I really want to visit Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este while we are there. Just wondering if you could do a video about how to get there by public transport and information about booking tickets.

We were looking for entrance to this basilica in small square (approx where you stayed) but we haven't found it. It is keep secret?
@Romewise10 ай бұрын
Well the basilica is almost never open, so that may be why you don't see the entrance. But if you stand in front of Porta Maggiore where the baker's tomb is, with the tomb to your back, the entrance to this basilica is to your left and across the street. Please see my note in the description that it IS open for visits on Fridays through April. So maybe you can go if you are here then!

@@Romewise Thank you very much! We will try! It is rarety, as Gothic Hall in Santi Quattro Coronati.

Yes, that's indeed one of my favorite sites in Rome. It's too bad they forbid all photos (and video) inside. Otherwise, I'd love to share it, as well! @@Amaryllis-r5z

I'm so jealous. I've wanted to do this, but it's never been open.

I understand! Even living here, it's been very difficult to see. It was only opened briefly in 2015 and 2016, then closed and then open for 3 days in January 2024. Even then it was sold out and I just kept the page open and kept refreshing it and one day, 7 tickets were finally available! I was so grateful! I hope they'll open it again and I hope you get to see it!

Great video as always.However,the ancient religions didn`t die out in favour of Christianity they were supressed and crushed by said religion.
